FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

I was driving and a variety of failure warnings popped up on my screen along with a total brake failure, unable to stop, had to coast until the vehicle was no longer moving. No accident resulted, but it could have been very serious. Mechanics diagnosed it as a loose battery cable.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

The Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system activates unexpectedly and dangerously. Incident 1 5/7/2026: While driving approximately 2 mph in a drive-thru and rounding a curve, the vehicle suddenly applied full braking without warning. The braking force was severe enough that I struck my face on the steering wheel and my child was thrown forward in a secured car seat. Incident 2 5/19/2026: While merging onto a busy road behind a semi truck, the vehicle again applied sudden hard braking after I safely merged. This caused the vehicle behind me to nearly rear-end me, creating a high-risk traffic situation. These events occurred with no obstacle or reason that would justify emergency braking. In addition, the vehicle developed a coolant leak around 20,000 miles, raising concerns about overall reliability and potential related system issues. The unexpected braking presents a serious safety hazard and increases the risk of rear-end collisions and injury. The vehicle is being brought to a dealer for inspection, but the issue is intermittent and may not be easily reproduced.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

The contact owns a 2025 Buick Enclave. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the cruise control mode became inoperable, and the vehicle unexpectedly shut off. The contact also stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, messages related to the braking system, forward collision system and the ABS were displayed. Additionally, the ABS was inoperable during inclement weather, and the vehicle became unsafe to drive. The contact pulled over to the side of the road because children were also inside the vehicle. The contact’s husband then drove the vehicle to the dealer, where the failure was duplicated, and several diagnostic trouble codes were retrieved. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was a known issue and that several technical service bulletins related to the failure had been issued. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive and posed a risk to the contact and other drivers. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING

The car frequently just slams on the brakes on its own when reversing. Doesn’t matter the speed, and nothing is behind me at all. It also triggers a check engine light with transmission errors if you get a car wash and it is even mildly cold. Transmission errors when it gets too cold or snow in the grill.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS

Driving down the street after a short trip this morning with no one on the road in front of us the vehicle had an alert like we were about to impact someone and braked pretty hard 2x back to back with the collision alert popping up. The person behind us had to slam on their brakes and BARELY avoid hitting us. There was NOTHING in front of us. This vehicle is dangerous to everyone around us and should be taken off the road.

LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION

The contact owns a 2025 Buick Enclave. The contact stated that while attempting to switch lanes, the blind spot indicator on the passenger’s side mirror failed to illuminate to signal a nearby vehicle or object. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer four times; however, the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The mirror was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and informed the contact that the mirror was designed for the sensor to activate within a certain proximity, and if the vehicle or object was not within that range, the driver would not receive a signal. The contact was referred to the dealer, who confirmed that the indicator was working intermittently. The failure mileage was unknown.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

Super Cruise system malfunctioned and is available for inspection. The vehicle came close to colliding with a guardrail as explained below. Since I believe the issue is not with the vehicle itself, but with Road Information used by Super Cruise, I have reported this to GM Customer Service but not to a dealer. Monday August 25, 2025 Canada – Nova Scotia and New Brunswick While driving on Super Cruise (SC) at 75 MPH in the right lane of a 4 lane freeway (2 lanes each direction), three times the vehicle attempted to enter a non-existent right lane, driving onto the right shoulder and heading for a guardrail. In each case SC warned me of the lane change with normal alerts of seat vibration, right turn signal activation and the DIC display showing an image of a right lane, in green, indicating the lane was safe to enter. However, in each case there was only a partial lane or no lane at time the vehicle crossed the white line. I was alert, and surprised of its action which I did not initiate; and before taking control I waited about 3 seconds to see if SC would stop the maneuver and return to the proper lane. But in each case the vehicle entered the shoulder and appeared to continue, getting close to a guardrail. •The 1st incident occurred on Nova Scotia Hwy 104 at exit 29 where the vehicle attempted to enter the entrance lane at the point where it ended, at 9 AM ADT. •The 2nd incident occurred on New Brunswick Hwy 2 at exit 211 where the vehicle attempted to enter the entrance lane at the point where it ended, at 12 PM ADT. •The 3rd incident occurred again on New Brunswick Hwy 2, at exit175 where the vehicle attempted to enter the exit lane at the point where it ended at, 12:30PM ADT. Weather was sunny and dry with good visibility. Traffic was extremely light. I have since driven on SC approximately 400 miles without incident. And since most of my driving is on freeways, I have probably driven on Super Cruise for over 4,000 miles without incident.
