If this were to occur, it could result in an inoperative switch, heat damage to the driver's door, and/or ignition of components in the driver's door and a subsequent vehicle fire without prior warning. Certain extended cab pickup trucks equipped with high-back bucket seats may have the seat recliner to seat frame attaching bolts loosen, fatigue and fracture, allowing the seat back to suddenly recline. If this were to occur on the driver's seat while the vehicle was in motion, it could lead to sudden loss of vehicle control and a crash without prior warning. Correction: Dealers will remove all foam and/or fabric sandwiched between the recliner assembly and the seat frame, install washers between the seat recliner and the seat frame at each attachment point, and install new attaching bolts torqued to a higher specification.
On certain C1500, TAhoe and Yukon vehicles, the rear brake front pipe may contact the the left front fender wheelhouse inner panel just above the chassis frame. This could eventually wear a hole in the brake pipe which would result in brake fluid loss and reduced braking effectiveness. Correction: Rear brake pipe positioning clip will be relocated, brake pipe will be inspected for wear and replaced if necessary.

Certain vehicles do not comply with CMVSS 1103 - Exhaust Emissions. Vehicles may been built with the ignition coil wire too close to metal brackets or the transmission fluid fill tube (M/L van only). If the coil wire is too close to these metal objects, arcing may occur and cause failure of the wires which can in turn lead to a stalling/no start condition and/or catalytic converter failures. Correction: coil wire will be repositioned to assure adequate clearance from metal brackets and/or transmission fluid fill tubes.

On certain vehicles, the lower steering shaft to steering gear pinch bolt may be "finger loose" or missing. A "finger loose" bolt could continue to loosen and fall out. With the bolt missing, the steering shaft yoke could wear and jump spines on the steering gear shaft causing an off centre steering wheel. Relative movement between the chassis and cab could cause the steering shaft to separate from the steering gear resulting in loss of steering control. Correction: Dealers will inspect for the presence of a pinch bolt and ensure it is torqued to specification.
Certain vehicles exhibit a condition in which a pinch bolt exists in the recliner mechanism that could trap and pinch a person's hand or finger(s) when the easy entry feature is activated. On certain vehicles, the crankshaft balancer centre attaching bolt was under-torqued. This bolt secures the balancer, which is pressed onto the crankshaft, and the accessory drive pulley which is attached to the balancer, to the engine crankshaft. If this bolt were to loosen, the balancer and drive belt pulley would eventually loosen and the drive belt could come off the pulley or break, causing a loss of drive to engine accessories such as the alternator and power steering pump. Correction: Crankshaft balancer centre bolt will be torqued to specification.

The damage to the tire reinforcing structure in the bead "toe" area would likely manifest itself as a bulge in the sidewall after the tire is inflated. This damage could result in rapid air loss, which could cause injuries to anyone if they were handling the tire when this occurred. Correction: Tires will be demounted and inspected for bead damage. If bead damage is present, the tire will be replaced.

Certain vehicles may not comply with CMVSS 124 - Accelerator Control Systems. Vehicles may have been assembled with the throttle cable contacting the dash mat. The dash mat may bind the throttle cable such that the throttle return time may not meet the requirements of the standard. Correction: Dealers will inspect for adequate throttle cable to dash mat clearance, and if there is insufficient clearance, a portion of the dash mat will be cut out to provide clearance.

The nut could detach allowing the through bolt that secures the upper intermediate shaft to the lower steering column shaft to fall out. This could result in possible shaft separation, loss of steering control and a vehicle crash. Correction: Suspect fasteners will be torqued to specification.
On certain vehicles, the seat recliner to seat frame attaching bolts could loosen, fatigue and fracture, allowing the seat back to suddenly recline. If this were to occur to the driver's seat, sudden loss of vehicle control could result with the possibility of a crash without prior warning. Correction: Washers will be installed between the seat recliner and the seat frame at each attachment point and new attaching bolts will be installed and torqued to a higher specification. These corrections will be performed on both the driver's and passenger's seat.
Certain vehicles may experience a fuel leak at the fuel rail assembly end plug due to an improperly crimped end retainer clip. If this condition were to occur, and an ignition source was present, an engine compartment fire could occur. Correction: Defective fuel rail assemblies will be replaced.
On certain vehicles, the transmission shift cable lock clip may back out of its installed position resulting in loss of cable adjustment. This could cause the transmission to not obtain mechanical PARK when the shift lever is placed in the PARK position. If the driver fails to apply the parking brake, unwanted vehicle movement could occur. Correction: The shift cable will be adjusted and a redundant lock clip will be installed.
Certain vehicles may experience an external transmission fluid leak at the lube feed passage due to thin case casting in the cooler boss area. This condition could allow transmission oil to spray onto the exhaust system which could result in a vehicle fire. Correction: Vehicles will be inspected and transmission replaced if required.
Certain crew cab pick ups do not comply with CMVSS 207 - Anchorage of Seats. Rear bench seat latch mechanism was riveted to the back frame lower cross tube instead of bolted as specified and thus will not meet the requirements of the standard. Correction: Rivets will be replaced with the required bolts.

On certain vehicles, the pivot bolt, which holds the brake pedal to its support bracket, could disengage from the bracket weld nut resulting in loss of braking action. This could result in a vehicle crash without prior warning. Correction: Brake pedal pivot bolts will be torqued to specificaiton.
On certain vehicles with diesel engines, the front fuel feed and/or return lines can contact the automatic transmission shift linkage cordon shaft and/or, on k models, the front propshaft. The fuel line could wear through allowing diesel fuel to leak near the exhaust crossover pipe possibly resulting in an engine compartment fire. Correction: A newly designed fuel line routing bracket will be installed. Additionally, the fuel lines will be inspected for wear and if necessary, replaced.

Certain C3500 and K1500 vehicles may not comply with CMVSS 110 - Tire Selection and Rims (incorrect tire size infomation on compliance label).
Certain C1500, C3500, K1500 and K3500 vehicles may have below specified torque on the optional trailer hitch attaching fasteners. This could allow the trailer hitch to move under towing loads and eventually lead to failure of the fasteners. If this occurs while a trailer is being pulled, the hitch and trailer could separate and a crash could occur without prior warning. Correction: Trailer hitch will be inspected for evidence of hitch movement and if movement has occurred, the fasteners will be replaced and correctly torqued. If no movement has occurred, the attaching fasteners will be tightened to the specified torque.
Certain C2500 and K2500 vehicles with 6.2 Litre diesel engines and thm700 r-4 transmissions the rear antilock brake system could become disabled by an electrical malfunction. The front and rear brakes will continue to function but the brake warning indicator light will not inform the driver of the rear wheel antilock failure.(non-compliance With CMVSS 105 - hydraulic brake systems). Correction: electrical malfunction will be corrected by installing a jumper wire harness between the transmission connection and the engine wire harness.
