Accessories

On certain travel trailers equipped with Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. On certain fifth wheel and travel trailers, the HSM Quad Steps rivets that hold the steps together could loosen and fail. If the rivets were to fail, the steps could collapse which could cause a person to fall, resulting in injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect and replace the rivets with shoulder bolts.

On certain fifth wheel trailers, the axles may have been installed too far forward, which could affect weight distribution. Incorrectly distributed trailer weight could adversely affect vehicle stability and potentially cause an uncontrolled swaying motion, which could result in a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Heartland will either relocate the axles rearward, or install a ballast to the pin box and upgrade the axles to offset the increased ballast, depending on the model involved. Each trailer will also be weighed and tire, axle and cargo capacity labels bearing updated information will be applied.
