The brake pedal arm may loosen, rotate around its shaft, and swing in front of the accelerator pedal. Should the brake pedal arm contact and engage the accelerator pedal, it could result in extended stopping distances and a vehicle crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: KPPS will provide a clamp assembly kit along with installation instructions.

Engine

On certain motorhomes equipped with a Cummins engine, improper installation of a boss plug during engine assembly could create stresses in the cylinder block casting. These stresses could eventually create open cracks in the cylinder block or result in less than adequate clamping pressure around the plug. When the plug loses it's clamping pressure, it will loosen from the cavity, causing an oil leak. This leakage of oil near the exhaust manifold and turbocharger has the potential to ignite and cause a fire in the engine compartment. Correction: Dealers will install a steel cup plug boss cap which is attached over the boss/cup plug location with an industrial sealant.

On certain fifth wheel travel trailers, a deficiency in the structural integrity of the main frame rails could cause the frame rails to crack, allowing the axles to separate. Axle shifting could cause the fifth wheel to pull erratically, which could cause the driver of the tow vehicle to loose control and create the potential for an crash resulting in personal injury. Correction: Dealers will install gusset plates and cross tubes to strengthen the axle spring hangers.

Seats And Restraints

On certain vehicles, the seat belt buckle anchorage on the driver and passenger seats can separate from the seat frame. This failure could result in unrestrained occupants during a crash which could lead to personal injury. Correction: Dealer will install a reinforcement bushing and a grade 5 bolt to the seatbelt anchorage system.
