STEERING

No "incident" happened. When I purchased my vehicle, the body/fender/hood did not match up on either side. As soon as I purchased my car brand new, I started having multiple noises ( I am still hearing) when I turn my car, I got the steering gearbox recall over a year ago and the noise went away and came back. The sharper I turn, the squeakier the noise. My wastegate actuator makes a metal rattle noise when I drive, it is loose which I was told is normal but I can still hear the rattle at highway speeds..does not sound reassuring. I have taken it to 3 hondas...gave up last year. Its concerning seeing the gearbox recall keep coming out on other vehicles especially not seeing a recall come up for me...as they cannot just perform the remedy again. I do not plan on keeping this car past my warranty as I fear something terrible will happen and fall on me. Most dealership visits they have not been able to duplicate the concern, I reached out to american honda and they were of no assistance as they told me to deal with the dealership directly. The latest noise I am hearing...no longer the wastegate rattle but more of a constant clanking. Everyone says to buy Honda for ease of mind but in the first year alone the dealership saw it more for concerns than maintenance..

STEERING

While driving I'm having difficulting staying in the center of my lane because my steering wheel is not allowing minor steering adjustments without sticking in place temporarily. I need to apply more pressure than expected to turn the wheel before it unsticks. My local Honda dealer recently replicated this behavior on a test drive and is recommending I replace my EPS gearbox, outlined in a service bulletin issued by Honda related to this symptom (Service Bulletin/Manufacturer communication: 23-037). Honda has agreed to pay 50% of the repair since I am out of warranty - my mileage on my vehicle is a little over 41K. I am asking Honda to pay for the full repair given the related EPS saftey recall they have issued, but they have not agreed to do this yet. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to experiencing these steering problems.

I bought my car brand new from Honda in 2023. When the car had about 20,000 miles on it I took it in to my dealer for a steering issue “sticky steering” they said they could not reproduce the issue. Fast forward about a year they finally came out with a recall for the issue. I took the car in for the recall the repaired it and it was fixed for about a year and now the issues with the steering have come back. The dealership told me they performed the recall again and it did not fix the issue this time and they said I need a new steering rack. Honda is not wanting to replace the steering rack they want me to pay part of the cost. How am I responsible for paying for repairs on something they have a recall on and they admitted that should not have to. But yet they are still wanting me to pay for 30% of the repair bill which is over $1,000.

2025 Honda Civic SI Palm Springs, FL

STEERING

The steering on the vehicle exhibits unusual resistance when on center above 40mph - sort of a 'sticking' feeling. To properly correct the vehicles lane position at Hwy speeds, driver needs both hands. To move the steering in these situations requires significantly more torque than normal, and when you have applied enough torque, the steering will suddenly move, making it easy to overcorrect.

I am writing to bring to your attention a safety recall on my vehicle. On several occasions, I have visited the Lancaster Honda Dealership, located at 43244 Drivers Way, Lancaster, CA 93534, to request an appointment for the necessary repair. However, I was informed that, as I am not a customer of their dealership—meaning I did not purchase my vehicle there and have not had it serviced recently—they are unable to assist me. I was told that they only receive two repair kits per week, and these are prioritized for their customers. The last Honda dealership where I had my vehicle serviced is located in Long Beach, CA, approximately 90 miles away. Since I now reside in Lancaster, CA, I believe it is unreasonable to expect me to travel that distance to address this safety recall. I kindly request that this matter be investigated further to ensure proper resolution.

What sense does it make to issue recalls on cars and then there are no parts available to repair the vehicle. When you contact manufacture to get car repaired. There are not parts available nor can they tell you when they may even have. So okay I have an issue with my car but no idea when it can be repaired. This is 2nd recall for my car last one my steering rack had failed. That one too no one could tell me when part would even come. I had to wait 6 months to even get it repaired. Someone needs to look at why these parts are not available for things that need to be fixed. Some are not safe as in my last recall.

A few months ago this started. Power steering is sticky, at highway speeds the steering wheel can be turned at a 45 degree angle and stick. at one point i can take my hands off the wheel and it will not return to center at highway speeds. Starts sticking at 20+ MPH and requires small increments to unstick the steering wheel.
