Isuzu NPR recalls in Canada

Transport Canada runs its own recall programme. Its campaigns do not always mirror the American ones, so a Canadian owner reading a US-only list is reading about a different car than the one on their driveway.

2013 Isuzu NPR Recall 2017173 24 Mar 2017 4,539 units in Canada

Suspension

On certain vehicles, the left rear wheel bearing hub locking bolts may not have been properly torqued during assembly. This could cause the bolts to loosen and break, which could allow the wheel assembly to move outwards from the axle housing. If this occurs, the vehicle could become more difficult to control and braking distances would increase which could result in a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect and tighten the rear left wheel bearing hub locking bolts as necessary.

2015 Isuzu NPR Recall 2016545 4 Nov 2016 873 units in Canada

Powertrain

On certain vehicles with gasoline powered engines, the accelerator pedal could move laterally, allowing the accelerator pedal bracket to be hung up on the stopper bolt on the floor panel bracket. This would cause the accelerator pedal to remain in the open position, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will remove and replace the stopper bolt with a flanged plate that will be bolted to the floor bracket to prevent lateral movement of the accelerator pedal.

2008 Isuzu NPR Recall 2015503 23 Oct 2015 101 units in Canada

Fuel System

Certain vehicles with gasoline powered engines may be equipped with a fuel tank that could prematurely corrode and leak. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the fuel tank.

2013 Isuzu NPR Recall 2013165 16 May 2013 9 units in Canada

Powertrain

Certain trucks equipped with an automatic transmission could experience a sudden transmission failure. This would result in a loss of vehicle propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver’s reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the transmission assembly.

2012 Isuzu NPR Recall 2011321 25 Aug 2011 2 units in Canada

Electrical

On certain vehicles, the Electronic Control Module (ECM) software may not detect a brake pedal switch failure. If the brake pedal switch malfunctions, application of the brake pedal would fail to deactivate the cruise control. The driver would, however, be able to disengage the cruise control by other means such as; pressing the cruise control main switch located on the instrument panel, shifting the transmission into neutral or another gear, lowering the speed of the vehicle by more than 48 km/h (30 mph) through braking and/or shifting gears, or by turning the engine OFF. Failure or delay in disengaging the cruise control can increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will update the ECM software.

2008 Isuzu NPR Recall 2009026 28 Jan 2009 118 units in Canada

Other

On certain trucks, the propeller shaft may not have received adequate heat treatment during the manufacturing process. As a result, the shaft may break and fall off while the vehicle is being driven. Separation of the driveshaft would result in lost propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash. In addition, once separated from the vehicle the driveshaft could cause vehicle damage or damage to other vehicles and property, and could potentially result in personal injury or death to bystanders. Correction: Dealers will replace the propeller shaft.
