The worst model year for it is 2021.
When I first got my Mazda CX30 2024 New lease ,my Breaks were very weak & didn't perform as new. Only 2 years later w 9K miles on it, Mazda states my breaks need to be replaced. My rotors need to be shave. A whole list of services on a car thats 2 years old. My concern is, break service at 9K confirm my car wasn't new and that Mazda put my Safety at risk w Old Breaks... Mazda is hiding somerhing about my breaks playing games...in the mean time I feel my safety is in jeopardy with defective breaks that maza should fully cover under warranty. Which they won't honor. Putting my safety in jeopardy

The wiper settings cannot be adjusted every speed is high- (meaning, the wipers always go super fast) unless, its on auto. I dont alwaus want to use auto. My dealership tech now has "refused" to work with me anymore- or has encouraged me to find another dealership bc of all the random little things ive brought up aboht the car. Seems to frustrate him. Just 2 days ago- the car started leaking water thru the top of the liftgate when going through the car wash. (I do opt for touchless- btw)
NHTSA complaint #11747292 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
While driving, on approach to a stop signal, at an intersection the car stopped moving. The display said engine malfunction, have inspected. The electronics and engine continued to operate, but the car would not move when gas pedal was depressed. I shut off and restarted my vehicle numerous times, with no effect on the problem, the car still would not move. The vehicle behind me had to brake unexpectedly, and I could have been hit by others in the intersection, there could have been an accident.(I put car in neutral and the driver behind me, pushed my vehicle, manually, out of the intersection) AAA towed vehicle to the dealer I purchased it from, they were unable to reproduce the problem or retrieve codes to identify problem.( AAA did something under the hood before towing and I was able to drive vehicle to nearby parking lot to be towed) No other inspection has been conducted. Over prior week I noted intermittent engine revving while driving for very brief seconds and this occurred just prior to the incident that resulted in the inability to move the vehicle.

While driving down the road a vehicle in front of me braked to stop for a bus loading kids, as I stepped on the brakes nothing happened and the vehicle surged forward. After the accident I viewed the vehicles onboard system status and it had logged several errors including errors to the activsense driver assist control. I used the vehicle’s emergency assist button and contacted 911, and reported the incident to ride share and contact my spouse. Police report lists the wrong time and vehicle but does have the correct vin number

While driving on the highway our sunroof exploded with no impact. The glass blew up outwards causing a loud gunshot like sound. We had the sunroof closed (not in use) and there were no vehicles around us for any asphalt or rocks to cause impact.
NHTSA complaint #11723409 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
The left and/or right side sun visor does not stay in the fully retracted position and may lower slightly due to its own weight. The problem is attributed to a broken connection point where the sun visor attaches to the vehicle. Impaired visibility, particularly in bright sunlight.

My 2023 Mazda CX-30, which is currently under full manufacturer warranty, was brought to the dealer on October 10, 2025, specifically to address a safety defect involving white chemical particulates blowing through the HVAC vents. The dealership confirmed the failure of the "evaporative coating", which resulted in unidentified chemical byproduct being discharged directly into the passenger cabin. The vehicle remained out of service for 103 days due to this manufacturing defect. Upon receiving the Repair order (RO# 77004584) today, January 20, 2026, I discovered a significant safety concern that violates standard warranty repair protocols: the technician admitted to receiving two separate heater unit boxes that were damaged during shipping and subsequently 'transferred all salvageable items "from one damaged unit to the other to make one complete unit". As a consumer with a vehicle under warranty, I am entitled to a repair using new, undamaged factory parts. I am extremely concerned about the structural and functional integrity of a "reconstructed" HVAC system assembled from damaged components. Furthermore, despite the confirmed chemical emission, no professional decontamination of the interior was performed. The manufactures is now using financial threats of storage and rental car fees to force me to accept this substandard, "cannibalized" repair.

It seems like the computer has defaulted to receive the lowest possible gas mileage- if this is somehow communicating with the fuel system- its definitely affecting how much mileage I could be getting and robbing me of up to 100 miles per tank.
NHTSA complaint #11703823 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
Car is forecasted to get 290 miles off a full tank after doing nothing but highway driving. 10 miles less than when I first drove it (off the lot and primary highway driving) and 60 miles less than it should according to Mazda statement of 21-30mpg.
NHTSA complaint #11703502 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
Dash button for lift gate not working. Occasionally the doors dont autolock Both of these things have happened multiple times since I drove the car off the lot .

Component/System: Automatic transmission (requires full replacement). The vehicle is currently located at Safford Mazda of Fredericksburg, 10653 Patriot Hwy, Fredericksburg, VA, 22408, and is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: The transmission developed a loud whining and grinding noise while driving, indicating imminent risk of sudden loss of motive power or seizure. This creates a severe crash hazard, especially on highways or during acceleration/merging. Sudden loss of propulsion without warning can leave the driver unable to accelerate, maintain speed, or move out of harm’s way. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by Safford Mazda (authorized Mazda dealer). On October 16, 2025, they diagnosed the vehicle as requiring a complete transmission replacement (Repair Order/Multi-Point Inspection Video is available). The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives, but remains at the dealership awaiting parts. Starting approximately in late August, a transmission whine started zero warning lights or alerts ever appearing. Noise rapidly worsened. [XXX]: expert friend drove it once, instantly recognized imminent failure, and ordered me to stop driving immediately. At ~20,000 miles, the dealer confirmed the drive unit must be fully replaced, still with no dashboard warning ever triggered. Had I kept driving while trusting the silent system, this critical component could have seized at any moment, causing sudden total loss of propulsion at highway speed or in traffic with my young child on board. The complete absence of any alert during a proven, progressive failure is an urgent, unacceptable safety defect that demands immediate investigation and recall before a family is injured or killed. As of [XXX] , the vehicle has been out of service for 33+ calendar days. The dealer informed me I am #60 in Mazda’s national transmission replacement backlog. Had this Mazda CX30 as a rental car for about a week. Was pulling into the driveway, hit the brakes, and the vehicle took off full speed causing a crash. The engine was revving at max and the vehicle was accelerating as if the gas pedal was floored. No matter what pedal I hit the car just kept going until the crash and being shut off.

The initial sensor alarm indication was low oil pressure and within less then an hour engine malfunction was detected and the vehicle stopped functioning. This incident occurred on [XXX] in SanAntonio and thereafter it was towed to the Mazda Dealership for inspection upon request. I was driving from Dallas to SanAntonio with my [XXX] and [XXX] children when the vehicle started making strange noise and It the notification on dashboard stated I need to immediately stop the vehicle for safety. Middle of nowhere I had to find a nearest safe place for my children. This vehicle put me and my kids in an unsafe environment due to the faulty engine that was installed by the Mazda company. I was afraid thinking the car will start on fire because it was an engine alert. Yes the vehicle has been inspected by the North Park Mazda dealership on 5/12/25 with an initial quote of engine repair for $7905.88. The first time I noted which was few weeks back prior to this incident when the vehicle stalled at me while I arrived and stopped the vehicle at UT Southwestern Medical Center were I work as a nurse to badge into my parking lot. I got worried for a moment thinking could it be battery issue? I turned off the vehicle and turned it back on and the vehicle starting working. I parked the car and completed a 12 hr shift and thereafter did few weeks of work without any alerts or issue on the vehicle until the day off [XXX]. NHTSA complaint #11636130 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
I purchased a brand new 2023 Mazda CX – 30 from Cooley Mazda on September 27, 2023. I was excited to upgrade from my 2011 Mazda 3, however I have had issues early on. On June 7, 2024, I brought my 2023 Mazda CX – 30 in for diagnostic testing for front end noise and a shifting issue. I went out for a drive with the Technician and was told the noise I was hearing was from the weight of the car on the suspension, I disagreed. The Technician also experienced the shifting issue I spoke of, and I was told that the car needed to learn my driving technique, again I disagreed. At this point the vehicle only had 4014 miles on it. On July 25, 2024, I brought the vehicle in for its 1st oil change and tire rotation, as well as for the same noise and shifting issues. This time they found an issue with the front driver side front wheel bearing. They did not have the part in stock, so I had to wait for a call to schedule to come back once the part came in. Again, they claimed there was no shifting issue with the vehicle. At this point the vehicle only had 5079 miles on it. On August 7, 2024, I brought the vehicle in for replacement of the front driver side front wheel bearing. On my drive home I heard the same noise I brought it in for repair for. At this point the vehicle only had 5468 miles on it. On September 4, 2024, I brought the vehicle in for a NYS Inspection and for diagnostic testing on the noise and shifting issues, again they took the car out, did not experience the issue, but put it on the lift and did some testing which determined the car needs a new rear differential. At this point the vehicle only had 6219 miles on it. The rear differential was replaced and the vehicle still has shifting issues. It hesitates, sometimes doesn't advance when the gas pedal is pressed. The vehicle also hesitates at 38-40 and 58-60 mph while just holding your foot steady on the gas pedal.
