AIR BAGS:SIDE/WINDOW:THORAX

BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2025 MINI Countryman S ALL4 and JCW Countryman ALL4 vehicles. The armrest support bracket on the rear side door panel may be improperly secured, allowing the armrest to detach during an air bag deployment.

Risk: A detached armrest can strike a rear seat occupant or prevent the thorax air bag from deploying properly, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the left and right rear side door panels, free of charge. The vehicles have not been sold from dealer inventory and therefore no owner letters will be mailed. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC)

BMW of North America, LLC. (BMW) is recalling certain 2023-2025 BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce vehicles. Please see the recall report for a complete list of models and model years. The integrated brake (IB) system may malfunction and result in a loss of power brake assist or cause the Antilock Brake (ABS) and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) systems to not function properly.

Risk: A loss of power brake assist can extend the distance required to stop the vehicle. Additionally, malfunctioning ABS and/or DSC systems can cause a loss of vehicle control. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the integrated brake system, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed between June and December 2024. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 or Rolls Royce customer service at 1-877-877-3735.

Mini Countryman recalls in Canada

Issue: On certain vehicles, a motor in the integrated brake control module could fail and cause reduced power brake assist and a loss of rear hydraulic brakes. As a result, there may be reduced braking, and the antilock braking system (ABS) and dynamic stability control (DSC) may not work. Additionally, antilock brake and stability control systems that don't work could increase the risk of a crash. Steering

Issue: On certain vehicles, the steering tie rod ends may not be assembled correctly and could be missing a washer. Over time, this may cause excessive wear to the tie rod ends and cause them to break. This could result in a loss of steering control. Corrective Actions: BMW will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to inspect, and if necessary, replace the tie rods and ball joints.

Certain vehicles, which were parked at the port of entry in Halifax during the ice storms in February 2015, may have been exposed to excessive standing water and salt for an extended period due to this isolated environmental incident. Certain MINI models could have corrosion at the starter motor power supply cable connectors, which could lead to the inability to restart the engine following an engine shutdown by the start-stop (MSA) system, increasing the risk of crash causing injury in a traffic situation. On certain BMW models, the lubrication of some internal components within the steering rack may have been exposed to excessive water or salt which could result in higher than normal steering effort or steering binding, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. In addition, electrical wires and/or connectors in all affected vehicles may have been exposed to water or salt, which could lead to increased electrical system resistance, and increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Owners should contact their selling Retailer regarding this recall. Affected vehicles will be inspected. Some vehicles will be taken out of service immediately and owners will be provided with temporary transportation until a new replacement vehicle is available.
