Transport Canada runs its own recall programme. Its campaigns do not always
mirror the American ones, so a Canadian owner reading a US-only list is
reading about a different car than the one on their driveway.

Recall 2016022
18 Jan 2016
8,504 units in Canada
Electrical
On certain motorcycles, the regulator/rectifier assembly may have been produced with insufficient adhesion between the power module (circuit board) and the rectifier case. Due to this insufficient adhesion, heat generated on the power module circuit board can cause the circuit board to deform. This could cause excessive heat on the circuit board and uncontrolled electric current output, which can result in insufficient charging current being provided to the vehicle's battery. Battery discharge could lead to engine stalling and/or a no-start condition. Lost propulsion, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the rider's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the regulator/rectifier assembly. Note: This recall may supersede recall 2011-071 for certain model motorcycles, which will require re-inspection and repair.

Brakes
On certain motorcycles, corrosion could form inside the front brake master cylinder, which could cause a spongy brake feel. This could potentially lead to extended stopping distances, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will install a redesigned front brake master cylinder.

Fuel System
On certain motorcycles, the gasket between the fuel tank and the fuel pump mounting plate can lose its ability to provide a tight seal, allowing fuel to drip from the gasket. In the presence of an ignition source, leaked fuel can cause a fire. Correction: A redesigned fuel pump gasket will be installed on affected motorcycles. On TL1000S models, the fuel tank will also be replace with a redesigned fuel tank that incorporates a different tank mounting system.
