EXTERIOR LIGHTING:TURN SIGNAL

Subaru of America, Inc. (Subaru) is recalling certain 2022 BRZ and Toyota GR86 vehicles. The rear turn signals may intermittently become inoperative.

Risk: Inoperative rear turn signals may not notify other drivers of a turning vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace both rear combination lamp assemblies, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 8, 2024. Subaru owners may contact Subaru's customer service at 1-844-373-6614. Toyota owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Subaru's number for this recall is WRM-23.

Transport Canada runs its own recall programme. Its campaigns do not always mirror the American ones, so a Canadian owner reading a US-only list is reading about a different car than the one on their driveway.

Lights And Instruments

Issue: On certain vehicles, the rear turn signals may suddenly turn off if a bright light (such as bright sunlight) shines directly on them. Safety Risk: Turn signals that don't work properly may cause a person not to recognize when a driver intends to turn or change lanes. Hazard lights that don't work could make the vehicle less visible. Both could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Toyota will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace both rear combination lamp assemblies.
