My Bosch CP4 fuel pump failed causing my engine to stall while turning at a very busy/fast intersection. This can occur at speed without any warning of sudden failure, putting everyone on the road at risk. Fault code P0087 and P0191 were present, along with a flashing glow plug. Following EA No.: EA11-003 I removed the fuel metering valve and observed and documented metal shavings. The failed component is still installed on my vehicle as I will be having it serviced shortly. The fact that this same component has been recalled very recently in many domestic trucks, but not in the 600,000 VW/Audi vehicles it is installed in is concerning. EA No.: EA11-003 Date Opened: 7-Feb-2011 Date Closed: 27-Mar-2015 The date this analysis was closed was months before the Dieselgate Scandal broke, leads me to question its credibility. This repair is very expensive as a whole new fuel system needs to be installed, with the same questionable pump.

I was looking at the GMC Duramax diesel and it has the same problem as the Volkswagen Jetta TDI fuel pump failure due to American Diesel in the pump is designed for foreign diesel which is very expensive to repair can we please have some help with this where they can come out with a replacement pump that can resist American diesel

The contact depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact continued driving to his destination however, the vehicle failed to accelerate above 30 MPH. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent but had become a recurring failure. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer where a diagnostic test was performed; however, the results had not been shared with the contact. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The contact researched online and became aware of a failure of the high-pressure fuel pump. The contact related the failure to the high-pressure fuel pump. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

Twice since hitting 50k miles, my high pressure fuel pump has failed, resulting in complete and sudden loss of power midst driving. VW says that it is a warranty issue, but, has no real guidance or promise that it will be fixed. The car stalls in traffic and is slow to accelerate. The service department attributes the cause from a problem with a contaminated fuel system. However, the car has had a series of problems with the electrical system where I was told the "radio is draining the battery". The car would be parked without the keys in the ignition and it failed to start and the cause being the radio draining the battery. The issue is both electrical and diesel engine related.

In June of 2021 my car had a warning light for the DPF filter come on and told me to follow the instructions in the manual to drive it on the freeway at certain RPMs to get it to clear well that didn’t work and eventually the check engine light came on as well, I took it to the dealership and found out that the Diesel Particulate Filter was bad and needed to be replaced, the DPF was under an extended warranty because of the whole Dieselgate issue, my car had approx 95k miles or so on it when the filter was replaced along with my timing belt. Well six months later the DPF filter light came on again so I brought it back to the dealership that replaced it and they said it wasn’t their fault and that now the glow plugs and thermostat needed to be replaced to get the filter to work so I spent a bunch of money fixing that and now just recently the DPF light and check engine light came on again so I brought it back to the mechanic and they said I needed a new O2 sensor and that would fix this problem, well the replaced the sensor and I drove away and now my Turbo blew which was incredibly scary cause my car lost all power and made a crazy siren noise as I tried to get to a safe area. and my car isn’t driveable at all, my car only has 101,000 miles in it and it going to cost me over $3000 to fix the turbo when I just spent $600 to replace the sensor, $600 on glow plugs and themostat, and $1000 on the timing Belt. This is a lot of extra money to spend on a car in just one year. I don’t think that the DPF filter should be giving me problems every 6 months. I’m a single mom and I don’t know what to do, I can’t afford a new car but I also can’t afford to keep fixing this one. My car is currently at the VW dealership waiting to be fixed and I hope I’m not wasting my money just for it to break again. I’m going into Credit card debt just to keep This car running at this point.

The contact owns a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle stalled with the glow plug warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact was able to coast the vehicle off to the side of the roadway after nearly being crashed into by a semi-truck. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to his residence; and upon inspection, he discovered that the high-pressure fuel pump had failed and released metal shavings into the fuel filter. The dealer was notified of the failure and provided an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 125,733.

At first we had to replace the intake manifold and then a month later we had to replace the catalytic converter and now it’s in the shop having the DLF filter , fuel pump , & fuel lines .
