Recalls on the 2024 Buick Envista

A complaint is one owner's allegation. A recall is the point at which the manufacturer or a regulator agreed the defect is real and dangerous enough to fix for free — however old the car is.

United States — NHTSA

23V744000

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2024 Buick Encore GX, Envista, and Chevrolet Trax vehicles. The software in the Virtual Cockpit Unit Module (VCU) may cause the instrument panel display to intermittently go blank at vehicle startup or while driving.

Risk: A blank instrument panel will not show critical information, such as vehicle speed and warning lights, increasing the risk of a crash.

Canada — Transport Canada

Canada runs its own recall programme, and its campaigns do not always mirror the American ones.

Recall 2026402 30,996 units in Canada

Visual System

Issue: On certain vehicles, moisture could enter the rearview camera and could cause the rearview camera image not to display correctly or at all. Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with a standard rearview camera. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that doesn't display correctly could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the rearview camera.

Recall 2023599 4,412 units in Canada

Lights And Instruments

Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the instrument panel to display a black screen. If this happens, it could create a distraction for the driver, and warnings, tell-tales and gauges would not display. Safety Risk: A driver that is distracted and/or warnings, tell-tales, and gauges that don't display could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the software for the virtual cockpit unit module.

Recalls cover specific build ranges, so check your own vehicle by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls or, in Canada, Transport Canada.

My son's car was hit by this Buick while he was making a right turn. The driver of the Buick was not paying attention and thought he had already turned. She accelerated into him and AEB did not prevent it. We are not sure why this Buick's ADAS failed. It is not our car, but that of the person who hit us. I don't know the answers to the above question as we were not the driver and it is not our car. Our concern is how could the car allow such an impact to occur especially at low speed. I filed and submitted my paragraph yesterday and have not heard a word. My son was in the back seat when it happened and he is extremely traumatized in getting back into a vehicle. My car was purchased in 2023 and it is a 2024 and is non drivable due to the engine explosion while driving in 14 degree weather on a two lane high way with my 6 and 7 year old in the back seat. My engine exploded and I no longer have my brand new car I was once so happy about. I hope this is reviewed and someone takes this seriously. I didnt have my brand new car for even 2 years and now I am just out of an option. My car is at the dealer ship and im praying I get good will out of this. I cpuld have been hit on the high way, traffic on coming while I had to merge off the highway as lastly as I could when I felt the explosion.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Vehicle has stalled when moving slowly and making a turn or slight turn. In all cases, the engine shuts off, all displays (instrument cluster and infotainment display) go black, and power accessories such as windows, radio, ac are all off. No warnings or service lights have appeared in the instrument cluster. July 4, 2026, morning – Vehicle stalled entering an alley, moving slowly and turning. This occurrence did not involve stopping previously to the stall as the next two did. In this instance the engine started again on its own and power came back on, though ac settings were changed. July 4, 2026, afternoon – Vehicle stalled after stopping for cross traffic in a roundabout and then moving to enter the roundabout. It was necessary to completely stop the vehicle in traffic order to restart it (depressing brake pedal and pushing the start button). August 8, 2026, morning - Vehicle stalled after stopping at a stop light and then moving to enter the intersection and turning. It was necessary to completely stop the vehicle in traffic order to restart it (depressing brake pedal and pushing the start button). We have taken the vehicle to two different GM Service Centers to diagnose and resolve the issue. In both cases the service centers were unable to determine the cause, being unable to duplicate the situation. I enclose the service reports for both - Hallady Motors, Cheyenne, Wy 7/10/20236, and Tyrrell Chevrolet, Cheynne, WY 8/17/2026.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

It was in the shop 9/19/24 for the screen going blank while driving causing a safety concern as was unable to tell how fast was going, screen slowly came back on and they found had internal fault and replaced telematics control module. All was fine until July 2026. Picked up from Glen Polk GM in Gainesville Texas 7/15/26 they state reprogramed radio, and USB file. The screen went out 7/19, 7/21, 7/29. 7/31 we dropped car back to dealership 7/31 and they kept it until 8/4/26. This time they state the repair performed reconfiguration update as they claim the previous update was corrupted. Today 8/14/2026 the screen blanked out again at 7:10am. I now have a new appointment for 8/19/26 at 10am. I have also opened a corporate complaint with GM.

STEERING

I am writing to report a serious and ongoing safety issue with my vehicle. While I was actively driving in traffic, my car suddenly shut off completely without warning. This occurred while the vehicle was in motion, creating an immediate and dangerous situation. During this incident, the steering wheel locked up multiple times while I was driving, making it extremely difficult to control the vehicle and safely maneuver through traffic. This put not only my safety at risk, but also the safety of other drivers on the road. In addition to this, there are multiple mechanical and safety-related issues with the vehicle: •The driver’s seat is stuck and cannot be adjusted. •The front doors will not lock. •The back doors will not unlock. These issues significantly increase the risk of injury or harm in the event of an emergency, accident, or even while the vehicle is parked. Given that the vehicle shut off in traffic and experienced steering lock while driving, I do not feel the car is safe to operate. I am requesting that this matter be reviewed urgently, as this vehicle presents a serious safety hazard to myself and others. Please advise on the next steps for inspection, coverage, or resolution as soon as possible. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter

Sunroof glass shattered on I-5 south approx 1215pm just before the Nisqually exit. We looked for cause of the incident but could not find debris/rocks that could've been the cause. Also, there wasn't much glass inside the car, the remnants puckered upwards. The glass shatter seemed to come out of the blue; weather was grey but no rain or sprinkles at the time. We pulled over at the next exit which was Nisqually to look at the damage and to tape up the car.
