I took my suv in for diagnostics to a certified GM dealership at least twice while still under warranty. The check engine light was on, the car was behaving abnormally as well as making unusual concerning noises. The dealership sent me away saying no codes showed up and they couldn’t find a problem.The light would come on and off sporadically. I took screen shots of my dashboard every time the light came on. Within months of my warranty expiring xI was traveling to IL 1.5 hours from home on I-90 during heavy traffic. Suddenly the dashboard provided extensive messages ex: engine overheating, idle engine, etc and I could not get the rpm’s over 68, then 65; then 60; then 58 etc. I pulled over to let the engine cool on the side of a four lane bumper to bumper interstate environment alone. I had to have the car towed back from Elgin on my dime and took it into the same dealership where this time I spent 1700 on what I recall being told “engine coolant repair” as they claim small leak. Less than a month later the check engine light came back on so I took it back to the dealership. My Cadillac app was registering the same alertmas before the fix : engine coolant system. Dealership said it was a blown head gasket (something about cyl 1) sep from what they worked on for the 1700 and ate wanting over 3700 for this repair. My car was I believe months out of manufacturer warranty though I complained multiple times of concerns and because it is a “separate” issue from May repair and no year warranty from them either . 7 day wait for replacement part alone. I had car towed directly from dealership it was at to a mom n pop auto repair center in town awaiting full diagnostics, preserving “evidence” I learned online my particular suv (2019 Cadillac xt4 premium luxury) is known to have engine and other issues that don’t register codes and likely over 90% chance related to misdiagnosis or a band aid repair. *i have screenshots of dash, “my caddy”app alerts, etc*

Recently went to my local Sewell dealership for my routine oil change. With an oil change they do a complimentary multipoint inspection. During the inspection they noticed that my camshaft carrier was leaking and needed to be resealed. The resealing of the camshaft carrier would be around $4,000. I don’t have that kind of money laying around especially in this economy. I just got a new place and I can’t Afford to spend $4,0000 right now. I did some research online and apparently this is a common issue with Cadillac cars. I reached out to other Cadillac owners and they advised me to submit a complaint with the NTHSA due to the frequency of this issue across Cadillac cars. Will there be some type of reimbursement/recall to fix this issue because if it happening across multiple Cadillac cars no matter the make or model, this should be on GM/Cadillac to fix and not the consumer.

I took my car is for service at the Cadillac dealership and they stated there was an oil leak from the camshaft carrier. When I asked more questions they stated it was a fairly common problem with the XT4 and a few other models where there was a faulty seal at the "T-joint" (cam carrier T-joint). My car is no longer under warranty, but had under 26000 miles at the time. There were no warnings or symptoms. I would not have not if the dealer had not told me. The cost was estimated at $3254.45. If this is a common problem, why isn't there a recall?

At around 17,000 miles the timing chain tensioner went bad. At cold start up you could hear the timing chain hitting the 'guide' until the oil pressure built up and provided enough tension. I was covered by an aftermarket warranty - which paid all the labor ($1700). I had to pay a $100 deductible -along for the parts ($300). I feel that this should be looked into and Cadillac should replace any tensioner that might be defective- since this could cause catastrophic engine failure. If you check - it does appear the 'new tensioner' part number is a revision- indicating Cadillac probably knows the old part number was defective!

This vehicle is still new, and it is completely unacceptable to experience failures in major systems like AEB, engine, and transmission. I have since learned about TSB #24-NA-053, which describes false AEB activations in XT4 models. My concern is that my vehicle may be affected. This car was purchased without notification of this issue from the dealership regarding the xt4 and obviously it was also not resolved upon my purchase of the car. While driving the vehicle on 01 May 2025, the car rapidly decelerated from over 60MPH to under 30 MPH in an instant. The car would not go over 30MPH. The power steering was off, the safety restraint was off, service transmission warning was on, engine light was on,low fuel indicator was on (I had over a half tank of gas), and service stabilitrak was on. The car had to be towed to the dealership. This is the second time this has occurred within the last 45 days. I just purchased the car in the middle of March. This problem clearly involves critical vehicle systems and should be investigated as a potential defect. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated that after purchasing the vehicle, the vehicle started shaking abnormally while driving. The contact pulled over the right side of the road and turned off the vehicle. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after several minutes. The contact was that while at the residence the vehicle was turned off and failed to restart. The vehicle was taken to Pep Boy and upon inspecting the vehicle the technician noticed oil was leaking from the brake master cylinder, the rear struts, and the shocks. The local dealer was contacted; however, the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the VIN for the failures. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed and the contact was informed that the battery needed to be replaced and that the tire pressure was low. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened a case. The approximate failure mileage was 83,376.

This is my second Cadillac XT 4 in two years and both have experienced the same thing. As I'm driving and come to a light to stop, the entire vehicle system goes black and cuts off. This has happened to me know 4 times, were the vehicle becomes disable in the middle of the road, during heavy traffic and almost hit several times from the rear. Each time I was in tears, thinking I was going to die and would call OnStar for assistance. The vehicle would not start, keep making this clicking sounds as if it's trying. The vehicle would automatically go into 'Park' and will not release for any other gear. I was told the Fuel Management System, that I was told was not suppose to happen in the 2024 model like it did in my 2022 model. My app also reports a "Transmission System Failure" for a brand new vehicle almost a year old & 7700 miles on it. I can't deal with GMC & my life over their products. I want to get rid of the vehicle and never purchase another one of their products. Highly disappointed & the lack of concern from GMC about their customers.

On June 13th 2024, and on July 30th 2024, while driving on highway my Cadillac XT4 suddenly jerked forward as if I had been struck from behind by another vehicle. The vehicle seemed to have lost all power and appeared to stall in the lanes of the highway. This created a very dangerous situation, causing vehicles behind me to swerve in order to avoid a collision. Be advised that the vehicle did not turn off, because I didn’t have to restart it, however it felt like it did. This situation could have caused myself, and passengers to be injured or killed, especially if a large truck was behind me and unable to stop. Luckily I was able to steer the vehicle onto the shoulder off the highway.

Driving to a local car wash, I stopped at a traffic light. When I tried to accelerate the transmission warning and power reduction waring flashed on HUD. I could not drive or place the car in reverse, the car had lost all its mobility. I had to let the car coast downhill to pull the car to the side of a busy street. I was fortunate this did not happen on a congested highway, but regardless the inability to move a car off a busy street is an extreme safety hazard. The vehicle needed towed, and after 31 one days was returned to me, four days later while on the highway bolts were falling off the undercarriage of the vehicle. Upon further inspection the rear exhaust bracket had fallen off and was missing 3 bolts.
