The worst model year for it is 2007.
When fueling the vehicle as soon as the pump pops off indicating your tank is filled gass will sphew/ or spray back out of the vehicle and onto the person fueling, the side of the vehicle and the ground. This happens every single time no matter what fuel station you use, regardless of the time of day or temperature outside. After looking online I can see there have been numerous reports of this from other 2007 Chrysler Aspen owners going back several years; however, I have not been able to locate anything indicating this is a recall and my vin number indicates all recalls have been addressed on this vehicle. Is there a solution for this issue, is it being repaired by Chrysler or what is being done? Please let me know, as this is a safety issue for anyone fueling up , anyone in the vehicle or around the vehicle. I noticed it asks for an approximate date of when this occured, there has been several dates so I will provide the date of the most recent issue.
NHTSA complaint #11645161 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
When filling the gas tank up using the "fill lock" feature on nearly all modern fuel pump nozzles, when the tank gets full the fill nozzle clicks off and about a half a pint of raw fuel is "purged" back out of the tank filler neck. At first I thought this was a problem at a specific fuel station. I have since learned that it can do it anywhere, at any time of day, and at any temperature.

When adding fuel, there is a splash back and gasoline spews out and onto who ever is fueling the vehicle. Then when you start the car and drive a few minutes, the car will stall. This vehicle is available for inspection opon request. This issue puts many people in danger. The fueler getting splashed with gasoline, absorbs fuel into their skin, and also the smell of the fumes when entering back into the vehicle. The fueler also now has a very combustible liquid on them. Which is a fire hazard. Also gas spilling is horrible for the enviroment. When stalling, that creates a very hazardous enviroment for everyone in the vehicle, as well as the vehicles around them. A wreck could easily occur because of this issue. The issue has not been inspected by a dealer yet. No warning lamps or messages appeared. And i am uncertain of when the problem began.

After filling the gas tank, the car will stall out randomly without warning. Stalling out will occur for about 25 to 35 miles. After that the stalling out disappears. This has happen while I was turning which made steering difficult. It also has happen when stopping which cause the braking to become difficult.
NHTSA complaint #11562908 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
Every time I fill the gas tank, the fuel spills out of the fill tube when it gets full. I have tried putting it in slow but before the nozzle can shut off it blows the fuel back out of the fill tube. This is a substantial amount of fuel which I believe is a serious hazard.

My 07 Chrysler aspen has a huge fuel problem and as I have read it’s happening to a lot of people! When I fill my car up with fuel no matter what store I am at the gas starts spewing back out of the tank. I do not over fill my car the moment the gas pump clicks that it’s done, a lot of gas starts spewing out onto the ground! I believe this is a potential hazardous ⚠️ situation for all involved especially my family! For one I am stressed out about if there were to be an accidental rollover the gas would go everywhere, and 2 when it pours out onto the ground or could even splash out onto my skin I could end up with chemical burns or the bio hazard issue we are having with the gas just being powered onto the ground without me being able to control it! Chrysler doesn’t seem to think this is a problem or that it’s hazardous! But when people go to have the problem fixed they are telling everyone it’s a faulty gas tank and you have to replace the entire tank!! Please help us get our cars fixed for something that Chrysler messed up on they should be responsible for the repairs!!

When refueling, the gas will overflow after just a few seconds (2-3 gallons of fuel added to empty tank). The fuel handle will shut off and only allow a few ML of fuel to be added to the tank. I must refil tank by holding gas handle and allowing only a trickle of fuel into the tank. Even with this SLOW refil, the fuel often overflows and spills onto the ground (and onto me). This problem began around 120000 miles. This is a continuous, persistent problem. VERY DANGEROUS Internet search indicates that this is a COMMON problem (https://www.chryslerforum.com/forum/chrysler-aspen-41/gas-overflow-fillup-10491/page3/)

While refueling when the fuel flow stops the first time on the nozzle ( I did not "top off" the tank) APPX 1/4 of a gallon of gasoline burps out of the re fueling port when the tank vents.

MY VEHICLE WAS STATIONED AT A GAS STATION PUMP AS I WAS PUMPING FUEL AND I WANTED TO FILL UP THE TANK, AND SO I DID. BUT, RIGHT BEFORE THE PUMP STOPPED, THE GAS SPIT AND SPILLED OUT OF THE TANK, RAN DOWN THE SIDE OF MY VEHICLE AND ON TO THE FLOOR.

WHEN PUTTING GAS IN AFTER REMOVING THE PUMP GAS COMES SPRAYING OUT ALL OVER WHOEVER IS FILLING UP THE VEHICLE ON THE SIDE OF MY VEHICLE AND ON THE GROUND THIS IS A SAFELY ISSUE FOR EVERYONE IN THE CAR THE VEHICLE ITSELF AND HOWEVER IS FILLING THE CAR UP AS WELL AS THE GAS STATION THAT YOU ARE FILLING UP AT. IT HAPPENED TODAY AND 1 TIME BEFORE THAT I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE LESS THEN A MONTH BUT SEE ITS A COMMON ISSUE AND SPOKEN ABOUT ALOT ONLINE.

VEHICLE STALLS REPEATEDLY AFTER FILLING UP THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE GIVES NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR PROVIDES ANY OBD CODES TO PINPOINT THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE STALLS BOTH WHILE IN MOTION AND WHEN STATIONARY, WHEN IN MOTION ALL POWER ASSIST IS LOST INCLUDING THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKING ASSIST. MY WIFE REFUSES TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE NOW AFTER NEARLY GETTING INTO A TRAFFIC COLLISION WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AND SHE LOST ALL POWER ASSIST WITH OUR TWO CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WILL SOMETIMES IMMEDIATELY RESTART AND RUN FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME THEN STALL AGAIN OR WILL JUST CRANK AND FAIL TO START. THIS PROBLEM ONLY SEEMS TO OCCUR AFTER FUELING UP AND TOPPING OFF THE FUEL TANK. ONCE THE FUEL TANK BURNS OFF SOME OF THE FUEL IT SEEMS TO RUN JUST FINE.
NHTSA complaint #11316117 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
EVERY TIME WE FILL THE GAS TANK ... THE VEHICLE WILL STUTTER / SHAKE WHEN AT IDLE OR DIE COMPLETELY AT IDLE LIKE AT A STOP SIGN OR DRIVE THROUGH WINDOW. IT WILL RESTART AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS. AFTER IT HAS BEEN DRIVEN ABOUT 25-40 MILES IT STOPS HAPPENING. WE HAVE PAID FOR TOTAL VEHICLE INSPECTIONS, WE HAVE ALSO PAID $1300 TO HAVE EVERY SINGLE PROBLEM A CERTIFIED CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP CAN FIND FIXED. THIS DID NOT HELP THE PROBLEM AT ALL AND THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH THE SUV. THIS IS THE CAR OUR SON DRIVES AND WE ARE VERY CONCERNED. WE ARE NOT IN A FINANCIAL POSITION TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE AND HAVE NOW EMPTIED OUR SAVINGS TO HAVE THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SERVICED, INSPECTED AND REPAIRED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHRYSLER ASPEN. AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT BEGAN TO DRIVE AND ALMOST IMMEDIATELY THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT, WHO WAS A CERTIFIED MECHANIC, DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO CONFIRMED WITH OURISMAN CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF BOWIE (LOCATED AT 2406 CRAIN HWY, BOWIE, MD 20716, (855) 822-3228) THAT THE CHECK VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS MORE PROMINENT AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS FILLED WITH FUEL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 189,000.

THE DRIVER'S SEATBELTS BUCKLE WILL GET STUCK WHEN TRYING TO UNBUCKLE YOUR SEAT BELT IT WILL NOT RELEASE. WHEN PUMPING GAS AT ANY GAS STATION WHEN THE GAS PUMP SHUTS OFF AND THEN IT WILL SPRAY GAS OUT OF THE FILL HOLE ALL OVER THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE GROUND NO MATTER IF YOU'RE PUMPING FUEL SLOW OR FAST
NHTSA complaint #11175811 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
I'VE BEEN HAVING THIS TRUCK FOR A LITTLE OVER 5 MONTHS AND EVERY TIME I FILL IT UP IT NEVER STOPS PUMPING WHEN FULL. IT SPITS GAS OUT WHEN IT IS FULL. I TRY TO WATCH HOW MANY GALLONS I'M PUTTING IN IT SO I CAN STOP IT MYSELF BEFORE IT GETS FULL BUT SOMETIMES I DON'T CATCH IT. IT NEVER CLICKS OR STOPS ON ITS OWN. I KNOW MY TRUCK IS 11 YRS OLD BUT THIS SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING.
NHTSA complaint #11172996 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
FUEL PUMP SHORT CIRCUIT. AFTER PUMPING GAS THE TRUCK WILL NOT TURN ON. SHORT CIRCUIT FROM THE PUMP TO THE STARTER. AFTER TURNING THE KEY TO POWER ON THE TRUCK ALL THE GAS SPILLED FROM UNDERNEATH. I DROVE TO MY KIDS SCHOOL AT 230PM , AFTER LEAVING POWERED ON THE TRUCK TO ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN AND THATS WHEN ALL THE GAS SPILLED FROM UNDERNEATH.

2008 CHRYSLER ASPEN STALLS FOR APPROXIMATELY FIRST 5 MILES AFTER REFUELING. MIL ILLUMINATES (CODES ARE FOR P0455 AND P0456) THEN CLEARS BY ITSELF AFTER A FEW DAYS. AFTER RESEARCHING, I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THE PROBLEM IS THE ORVR VALVE MALFUNCTION, THIS IS DOCUMENTED NUMEROUS TIMES ON MANY WEBSITES THROUGHOUT THE INTERNET. THIS LEADS TO THE EVAP CANISTER MALFUNCTIONING (HTTP://OPENSIUC.LIB.SIU.EDU/CGI/VIEWCONTENT.CGI?ARTICLE=1006&CONTEXT=AUTO_PRES). THIS IS NOT ONLY A FAILURE OF THE EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM, BUT ALSO A SAFETY CONCERN SINCE THE VEHICLE STALLS, WHICH IT ALWAYS DOES WHEN SLOWING OR STOPPING AFTER FILL-UP. BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WILL LOSE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKE ABILITY, I CAN NO LONGER LET MY WIFE OR CHILDREN OPERATE THIS VEHICLE AS IT HAS BECOME A SAFETY CONCERN. THIS VEHICLE AND OTHER RELATED VEHICLES (DODGE DURANGO, RAM 1500, AND OTHERS) SHOULD BE RECALLED AT ONCE TO HAVE THIS ISSUE ADDRESSED BEFORE INJURIES OCCUR, IF IN FACT THEY ALREADY HAVEN'T. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING THE MY VEHICLE SINCE DECEMBER 2016 BUT HAS LAST HAPPENED IN MARCH 2018 (NOW).

WHEN FILLING THE FUEL TANK ON THIS VEHICLE, IT OFTEN OVERFLOWS AND DUMPS GAS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THERE IS SUPPOSED TO BE SOMETHING THAT PREVENTS THIS FROM HAPPENING.... ARE THERE ANY KNOWN ISSUES WITH THIS VALVE/ OR PART?
NHTSA complaint #11015652 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
WHEN I FILL THE GAS TANK UP AND THE GAS PUMP CLICKS, I REMOVE THE GAS HANDLE AND GAS WILL SPILL OUT FROM THE TANK. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL MY GAS TANK UP.
NHTSA complaint #10983632 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY GAS TANK THE VEHICLE SPITS A BUNCH OF GAS OUR ONTO THE GROUND AND ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING THIS UP AND HAVE FOUND THAT ITS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2007 ASPENS. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD OF THE PROBLEM THEY STATED THATS ITS NOT A RECALL ITEM AND I HAVE TO FIX THIS KNOWN ISSUE OUT OF MY OWN POCKET
