Owners have filed 30 complaints
about the 2026 Genesis GV70 with NHTSA between 2025 and 2026.
The largest single group is the electrical system.
Across this model's run it ranks 5 of 5 worst.
The letter says how bad. This says what kind — whether this year drew
an unusual number of complaints, unusually dangerous
ones, or failures that arrived unusually early.
The dashed ring is 50 — the national norm. Further out is worse.
Complaint volume — 20
Against the median year of the Genesis GV70. 50 means typical for this
model; 100 means roughly double.
Severity — 17
3.3% of these complaints
involved a crash, fire, injury or death, against a national rate of
9.7%.
Early failure — not reported
Too few complaints recorded a mileage to measure this.
A spike years after the car went on sale usually means a part wearing
out on schedule across the whole fleet — the kind of pattern no single
owner can see from inside their own car.

Recalls on the 2026 Genesis GV70
A complaint is one owner's allegation. A recall is the point at which
the manufacturer or a regulator agreed the defect is real and dangerous
enough to fix for free — however old the car is.
Canada — Transport Canada
Canada runs its own recall programme, and its campaigns do not
always mirror the American ones.

Fuel System
Issue: On certain vehicles, the nuts for the crossover fuel pipe may not have been properly tightened. As a result, fuel could leak. Safety Risk: A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Genesis will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and tighten the nuts or replace the crossover high-pressure fuel pipe, as necessary.
Recall 20260088,101 units in Canada
Lights And Instruments
Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the instrument panel cluster and audio/video/navigation displays to reboot while driving. As a result, you may not be able to see certain information about the vehicle, including the speedometer, fuel gauge, warning lights and malfunction tell-tales. Note: For the GV70 model, this recall affects both gas and EV (electric) models. Safety Risk: Warnings, tell-tales and gauges that don't display could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Genesis advises you to disable the HD radio feature while driving until the recall repairs have been completed. Genesis will notify owners in writing and send a wireless over-the-air software update to eligible vehicles to update the audio/video/navigation software. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a Genesis dealership.

VISIBILITY/WIPER
Component Focus: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING / VISIBILITY/WIPER/DEFROSTER (HVAC) Description of Safety Defect: My brand-new 2026 Genesis GV70 Turbo (under 5,000 miles) suffered a sudden, catastrophic cooling system and heater core failure while in operation. The vehicle has a severe design defect: it completely lacks a low-coolant fluid level sensor in the expansion reservoir. Because of this engineering omission, the vehicle dropped its coolant level completely below the minimum safety line and filled the enclosed passenger cabin with highly toxic, atomized ethylene glycol (antifreeze) chemical vapors through the HVAC vents without triggering a single dashboard warning light, chime, or error code. The climate control system simultaneously malfunctioned, dropping fan speeds when stopped and forcing occupants to breathe in the concentrated toxic fumes. This is a severe health and safety hazard. A driver could easily be overcome by hazardous chemical vapors or experience sudden engine failure at highway speeds because the vehicle provides zero electronic warning of a critical coolant loss. Local authorized dealerships refused to accommodate the vehicle or provide a safe loaner vehicle despite the car being completely undriveable and chemically hazardous to sit inside. The vehicle is currently disabled at a dealership

STEERING
While driving at 35mph on a straight section of road the warning sounded, the display said "steering wheel locked" and I could not turn the steering wheel for about 5 seconds, then it returned to normal operation. We bought the car new in July 2025. I found numerous posts on line describing similar or worse experiences. The dealership performed tests and could not determine a cause.

POWER TRAIN
On XXX while driving at approximately 5mph in a parking lot my Genesis GV70 shifted from Drive to Park by itself causing the car and my wife and I to lurch forward and come to a stop! The car would not come out of Park and a warning came up after the fact saying to contact immediate service. My wife and I were in the car and there were no injuries. If this occurred at a higher rate of speed on a busy highway I cannot imagine what would have happened. I immediately called Genesis Road Assistance for a tow. The car was towed by flat bed to the dealer in [XXX], where I purchased the car, approximately 10 miles away where it sits today waiting for service. My wife and I are afraid to drive this car ever again as it is brand new with only 250 miles on the odometer. *No warnings of any kind prior to the incident. SEATS
while driving the vehicle, the driver's seat moves to the furthest position, away from the steering wheel and pedals. The memory position or forward/back control does not work consistently to put the seat in a more comfortable seating position. This is a random occurrence that can happen several times a day everyday or once or twice every other month. It is unsafe during taking off from a light, as the seat moves back I can barely reach the accelerator. During braking, it's harder to apply pressure to the brake pedal. Also, my mirrors are harder to use because of the different seat position. I have an appointment coming up but it will have been well over a month since I told the service department. I have some video of the controls not working after the seat has moved back, but it is harder to get video while the seat is moving back and I'm driving. This has been an issue since SEP 2025 or so, but it has been happening a lot more recently this past month

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The driver‑side display on my 2026 Genesis GV70 randomly goes black or becomes distorted. This defect is included in Recall No. 26V019. Despite this, Genesis Consumer Affairs and the dealership (Homestead Hyundai/Genesis) refuse to perform the required software update that corrects the issue, claiming the vehicle is “already updated” — a statement that directly contradicts the official Genesis documentation, which I personally obtained. Instead of applying the required software upgrade, the dealership replaced the monitor. The replacement failed in the exact same way, proving the issue is not hardware‑related. When the driver‑side display goes black, I lose critical driving information, creating a clear safety concern. They refuse to update software.

I leased a 2026 Electric GV70 from Genesis in June 2025. In January of 2026, when driving the car I got a warning sign to stop the vehicle and check the battery supply. At that point, the car went into sever power reduction and would only go 20 MPH or so. After 20-30 minutes, the car completely shut down and became inoperable. Luckily, I was near home and was able to get my car home. I had to have the vehicle towed on wheels as it was completely frozen to the dealership. They diagnosed it as a failure of the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). They replaced the ICCU but identified other issues that to this day are unresolved and my car is still in the shop. These cars were subject to a recall for ICCU failure but only to model year 2025. These ICCUs are continuing to fail on the 2026 models, and at an alarming rate. The head of service at the dealership told me they were dealing with "hundreds" of ICCU failures on Hyundai/Genesis vehicles. If I had been on a highway traveling at higher speeds and the car suddenly lost almost all power and would only drive for another few miles before completely shutting down, it would have created a dangerous situation. These cars need to be recalled - again. Hyundai/Genesis clearly dont know how to make electric cars/battery packs that work and should be held accountable. I believe they are downplaying this situation due to the prior recalls/class action lawsuits and dont want to experience further reputational damage.

Without any warning, on March 15, 2026, I turned out of a parking lot onto a major road and I noticed it wouldn't accelerate above 20 mph, so I pulled off the road. I tried again and my vehicle still failed to accelerate. And on my third attempt, my vehicle decelerated and was about to completely stall. I managed to turn into a parking lot and avoid getting rear ended. However, this could have been a fatal event. While I was trying to accelerate, the vehicle was quiet as if the car wasn't even running. After shutting the engine off for awhile, I was able to drive the vehicle with caution. I reached out to two Genesis service departments regarding my vehicle failing to accelerate while driving and neither had heard any previous complaints, and the earliest appointment would be mid April. There was no sense of urgency, as I'm left to hesitantly drive my vehicle at the risk of it happening again and getting rear ended. And when my vehicle does go in for service, I'm weary whether the problem will be resolved properly since the service department is unaware of the issue. In addition, I have had this vehicle for only 4 months and 1 month into it, I already took it to service because of fuel odor that had not gone away since the day 1. But the service department didn't find anything wrong with the vehicle, so nothing was done to it. I also swung by another Genesis service department, in case they happened to be familiar with the cause of the odor. My vehicle still has the fuel odor and now I'm wondering if that is related to my vehicle not accelerating. I am seeking your assistance to ensure that the problems with my vehicle are confidently resolved. And I wouldn't want this to happen to anyone else. I am thankful, I was driving and not my teen.

Incident Summary On February 5, 2026, at approximately 4,480 miles, the vehicle displayed a “Check Electric Vehicle System” alert and was no longer safe to operate. Due to the risk of propulsion loss and electrical system malfunction, the vehicle required flatbed towing to an authorized Genesis dealership for evaluation. A dealership service advisor subsequently informed me that the vehicle has been diagnosed with an ICCU failure, a component responsible for charging the 12-volt battery and maintaining critical electrical systems. Failure of this component can result in loss of drivability, propulsion limitations, or vehicle shutdown, creating a significant roadway safety hazard. Safety Concern Failures of the ICCU have been widely reported across Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis electric vehicles and have been the subject of prior recalls due to the potential for unexpected loss of motive power while driving. Despite prior recall actions, failures continue to occur, including in my vehicle. Current Status The vehicle remains out of service pending repair, and no written repair completion timeline has been provided. The failure rendered the vehicle unusable and required emergency towing. I respectfully request that the Office of Defects Investigation review continuing ICCU failures affecting Genesis, Hyundai, and Kia electric vehicles to determine whether additional corrective action or expanded remedies INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATIO

The Instrument Cluster Screen went blank (OFF) while driving 65mph on the freeway. The vehicle mechanically kept functioning. I had no gages. The system began to reboot within a few seconds as I was attempting to pull over to the shoulder of the freeway. My vehicle continued to function normally so I drove home. My wife was very startled and shaken. This happened again so I took vehicle to the dealership service dept. where they performed a diagnostic test finding “ technical glitches” as I was told. They ordered a new screen. I drove off with my car until a new screen arrived two weeks later. The screen again went blank on the city streets a day or so before the new screen arrived. I only drove my car as necessary while my wife refused to do so and never had other passengers. I surrendered my car for repairs on Nov.14, 2025 and have not retrieved my car as of today, Jan.7,2026. I became aware during the many repair delays that the dealership was negligent in allowing me to drive off in an unsafe vehicle. They should have provided a loaner until the repairs were completed. I am currently addressing these issues with Genesis Customer Care as a special case team has agreed that my car is now a “Lemon” under Nevada Revised Statutes.
