Tires

Issue: Certain RV trailers were built with tires that may have a defect. As a result, the tire tread and belts could separate. If this happens, the tire could fail and suddenly lose air pressure. Note: This recall only affects trailers equipped with certain ST235/80R16 G or ST235/85R16 G tires. The tires are marked with plant code 1YJ, and within the date code range of 2020 - 4120. If you have tires with a different date code, please also see Transport Canada recall 2021-729. Safety Risk: A tire failure could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Heartland RV will notify owners by mail to advise you of this problem. You should contact an authorized Sailun Tire dealer if you have tires manufactured within these date ranges or if you need help inspecting them. All tires affected by this recall will be replaced.

As a result, the connections could loosen and create electrical arcing (sparks) or cause wires to overheat. Safety Risk: Overheated wiring or sparks could create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Heartland will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealer to inspect and tighten the wire connections within the transfer switch box, as required.

Issue: On certain travel trailers, the front landing legs may not be properly supported. As a result, the legs could buckle and cause the front of the trailer to drop while it is parked. Safety Risk: A trailer that drops suddenly could create a risk of injury. Corrective Actions: Heartland RV will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealer to install a jack bracket to reinforce the front landing legs.

Accessories

On certain travel trailers equipped with Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. On certain travel trailers outfitted with Furrion cook tops, the LP hose going to the cook top is angled down and is pressing against the top of the oven. This could cause the LP hose to put excessive pressure on the hose fitting and gas valve, which over time, could develop an LP leak. A propane leak, in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will install and position a flexible gas connector from the cook top to the LP hose so as not to put pressure on the valve.

This could result in the ladder separating from the vehicle, which if an individual were to be utilizing the ladder, it could lead to an increased risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will install a hinge brace over the back of the existing hinges to secure the hinge and mounting bracket.

On certain fifth wheel and travel trailers, the HSM Quad Steps rivets that hold the steps together could loosen and fail. If the rivets were to fail, the steps could collapse which could cause a person to fall, resulting in injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect and replace the rivets with shoulder bolts.

On certain fifth wheel trailers, the Certification label may not contain the correct Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). The label incorrectly indicates a GVWR of 8,165 kg (18,000 lb) instead of 7,257 kg (16,000 lb). As such, the vehicle could be unwittingly overloaded, which would result in poor vehicle handling characteristics, increasing the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Updated labels will be mailed to owners of affected vehicles, along with instructions for proper installation.
