NHTSA investigations into the 2001 Holiday Rambler Endeavor

An investigation is the step before a recall: the agency has seen enough complaints to look into a pattern itself. An open one means it thinks something may be wrong and nothing has been fixed yet.

Recalls on the 2001 Holiday Rambler Endeavor

A complaint is one owner's allegation. A recall is the point at which the manufacturer or a regulator agreed the defect is real and dangerous enough to fix for free — however old the car is.

Canada — Transport Canada

Canada runs its own recall programme, and its campaigns do not always mirror the American ones.

Recall 2003288 197 units in Canada

Structure

On certain vehicles, harsh road input from severe road surfaces, which can be enhanced by fatigued springs, bad shocks, or an over-loaded condition on the rear axle could result in the bottoming out of the suspension and amplification of the stress place on the floor truss network. The additional stress can result in the fracture of welds securing the floor truss network support system to the chassis frame rail and/or fracture of the floor truss network support system. The possibility exists that there could be damage to electrical wiring and/or fuel lines which could lead to a fire. Correction: Dealer will inspect the floor truss network support system, reinforce the existing structure, and repair as needed.

Recall 2003176 18 units in Canada

Label

On certain motorhomes, the Federal Certification label shows the front tire pressure as 105 psi for 255/70R22.5 tires on 11,000 lbs front axle. The correct pressure should read 115 psi. Correction: Dealer will install a corrected label.

Recall 2003096 103 units in Canada

Lights And Instruments

On certain vehicles, the brake system warning indicator will not illuminate when the ignition is in the start position or when the brake fluid is low. Correction: The brake warning indicator bulb from the right side indicator position must be transferred to the left side indicator position of the instrument cluster and the wire harness must be modified.

Recalls cover specific build ranges, so check your own vehicle by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls or, in Canada, Transport Canada.

SAFETY RECALL FEDERAL CERTIFICATION LABELS-INCORRECT PSI. *MR THE CERTIFICATION LABEL STATED THE PSI SHOULD BE 105. THE CORRECTION WAS 115 PSI FOR FRONT AXLE TIRES. FAILURE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM COULD RESULT IN PREMATURE TIRE FAILURE, BLOW OUT, OR LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE MOTORHOME. THE REMEDY WOULD INVOLVE THE INSTALLATION OF THE CORRECT FEDERAL CERTIFICATION LABEL. THE CONSUMER INQUIRED WHETHER OR NOT THE FRONT TIRES WERE UNSAFE AND IF SO, WOULD THE DEALER REPLACE THEM WITHOUT ANY CHARGE TO THE CONSUMER. *PH *JB
