For the last few months I have had an intermittent issue with my 2016 ex-l v6 accord. It started as occasional stalling at traffic lights. The car would stall out, and after about 20 seconds I could turn the car back on, and drive without issues. Sometimes the issue would repeat itself multiple times in a day, and then go weeks without another instance. Then one day I was driving the car and had another stalling event. I had the car towed to the Honda dealership and they were unable to replicate or diagnose the issue. A few weeks later, I had another stalling event. I turned the car back on, and was able to continue driving. I got on to the interstate, and then even though the car was still on, when I push the gas, nothing happened, no acceleration or increase in RPMs. When I pulled over, the car would stall out. I would wait about a minute and turn it back on, and it would be drivable. This happened about four times. Then as I was headed into the tunnel, the car shut off entirely, and I lost power braking completely. I nearly got into an accident with the vehicles in front of me inside the tunnel at highway speeds. This was Father's day, June 21, 2026. I pulled off the interstate, and had the car towed to the dealership again. The dealership was unable to find any issues. The problem happened again today (08/19/26). I was driving the vehicle and was unable to accelerate while pushing the gas, and had multiple stallouts in traffic. I was able to quickly get the vehicle to the dealership, and they finally were to able replicate the issue. They pulled fuel from the fuel line and found it to be much darker than gasoline, with sediment inside. They pulled off the fuel pump and saw that the filter was clogged, but did not fully understand why. The filter is attached directly to the pump itself. My Accord sputters and feels like the engine is choking at low RPM (between 1k & 2k), I started a 3-hour daily commute in the Los Angeles freeway traffic last March. However, for some reason, when I entered my VIN, it showed zero recalled items. My fear is that on one of these daily commutes, my Accord is going to stop in traffic on the freeway and an eighteen wheeler will hit me from behind and I'll be a goner! On May 19, 2026, I was on the highway driving home and without warning my dash lit up with at least 5 warning lights scaring me to death so that I swerved a bit. I stopped on the shoulder and composed myself. I drove slowly home, thankfully I was not far from home. Took the car next morning to the mechanic and was told that the high pressure fuel pump needed replacement. it cost me $1800 which I had no choice because the car was a hazard to drive anywhere. I have recently learned that there was a recall for my 2016 Honda Accord regarding the fuel pump. I never received any notice whatsoever in regards to this potentially serious road hazard otherwise I would have taken my car for service at a Honda dealership. I would like for Honda to reimburse me for this money that I could not afford to replace the failing fuel pump. My car's mileage is only 65k miles give or take. Thank you kindly.

I am reporting a fuel pump module failure that has caused several drivability and safety concerns with my vehicle. Prior to the failure, the vehicle experienced intermittent difficulty starting, extended cranking before the engine would start, and occasional hesitation during acceleration. The engine stop/start system on my 2016 Honda Accord, VIN [XXX], has stalled and shut off without warning in active Los Angeles traffic dozens of times since September 2025. The vehicle loses all power mid-drive with no warning — no dashboard lights, no warning sounds — leaving me unable to accelerate or respond to surrounding traffic. The condition has progressively worsened and now includes repeated no-start failures requiring three documented tows. The component failing is the engine stop/start system. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of others hav been put at risk repeatedly. I am a [XXX]. My wife, age [XXX], has [XXX] and has been a passenger during stalling events. Sudden unexpected stalling in active Los Angeles traffic creates immediate foreseeable risk of rear-end collision and loss of vehicle control. This risk has been experienced dozens of times over six and a half months. The problem has been presented to Honda of Hollywood, a certified Honda dealer at 6511 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles CA 90038, across five separate visits. Each time the dealer concluded no problem could be found. On one visit I was charged nearly $2,000 for spark plugs and a gasket — work with zero diagnostic connection to the stalling complaint. The vehicle was returned to me in an unsafe condition after every visit. On [XXX] the tow truck driver who responded to my third documented tow independently experienced the failure, could not start the vehicle, witnessed the complete failure sequence, and declared the vehicle unsafe to drive. He is an independent third-party witness with no stake in this case. I have video documentation of the vehicle stalling in active traffic on multiple occasions. Going home from work, At highway traffic light intersection and car began to shake, sputter.. Engine and Oil light briefly came on before car stalled and shut off. In panic put gear into park, turned ignition button, car started and was able to put into drive and proceed. Not long after, on a main road, waiting for turn light, stalled, lost power again. Did not have any acceleration or power. Car was again shaking, luckily pulled into parking lot, put in park, shut off car and back on. When trying to accel, same thing happened as I was half way across 2 lanes, had zero accelerate power, car was shaking/sputtering, but luckily made it across. Car sat off for approximately 10 minutes. Was able to turn on and accelerate to get home without problem. This is a very scary situation to be in, especially in very heavy city traffic conditions. I have never been notified of any sort of recall. A case # has been made with Honda USA. They also let me know that although the year and model of my car WAS a part of a Fuel Pump Recall, and even though I experienced the same issues that other owners were having in which their vehicles were recalled, that my VIN # was not part of that particular batch recall. We were driving our 2016 Honda Accord LX down the highway and our vehicle started sputtering, causing us to swerve and gain control/slow down rapidly. The car could no longer accelerate to high speeds (could only go about 35 MPH), and a bunch of engine lights came on the dash. Upon taking it to a Honda dealer, they diagnosed the problem with the high-pressure fuel pump. Apparently our year of Honda Accord (2013-2017 models with 2.4L engine) had a recall on the fuel pump system, but that recall was associated with the fuel pump impeller. This existing recall number is 34V-858, MFR Campaign ID VIJ. It does seem odd that I would face a similar issue to this recall, but this high-pressure fuel pump failure is not covered under the same recall program according to Honda. I did submit for potential reimbursement under this recall, but Honda denied our claim. Could this issue be related to the same issue and therefore should this be part of that recall? This was a dangerous incident that happened going at high speeds on the highway, and we were simply lucky that our swerving didn't lead to an accident. Given that a more recent recall from Honda (2023-2024 Honda Accord) is associated specifically with the high-pressure fuel pump failure (Recall # 24V-763), I think it's reasonable that this same issue could apply to older models of the Accord as well.

I have a check engine light active, after having three diagnostic tests ran my vehicle, it was determined that it was my low pressure fuel pump is going bad. And now being notified that the high pressure fuel pump is needing a replacement. I have noticed there was a recall between the years of 2013-2017 Honda Accords. THE ONLY COMPANY THAT HAS THIS PART WAS HONDA SO THEY ORDERED THE PART AND ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE IT. ONCE I RECEIVED MY CAR BACK I NOTICED A STRONG GAS SMELL AND STALLING TO CRANK. I CALLED THEM AND HAD IT TOWED BACK AND THEY SAID IT WAS A GAS LEAK THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE SYSTEM THEY JUST PUT IN. ONCE I RECEIVED THE CALL BACK I NOTICED THE SAME THING BUT THIS TIME THE SCENT WAS SIGNIFICANTLY STRONG CAUSING HEADACHES TO MYSELF AND OTHER PEOPLE I ALSO HAVE A VIDEO OF THE GAS POURING OUT FROM UNDER MY CAR AFTER I HAD JUST FILLED UP THE TANK.
