Coolant is leaking into my cylinders due to the head gasket design flaw. Engine now needs to be replaced and it’s over $6,000. My car has about 150k miles. About 18 months ago it started misfiring, even while on the highway multiple times with my children. Codes came back saying i needed to replace ignition coils and spark plugs. Did that over and over and over. Turns out this is an on going issue with this specific year and model. I bought this car with 4 miles on it. I’m left without a car. This need to be recalled. I have read over 4,000 stories of others having the same issue.

My own independent research clearly indicates that premature head gasket failure is a well-documented, systemic defect within these specific vehicle models; therefore, a constructive resolution was anticipated. While the initial intake communication appeared promising, the subsequent follow-up was highly unprofessional. The Honda representative who returned my call was dismissive of the safety risks involved, lacked basic professional courtesy, and explicitly stated that the manufacturer would offer no financial assistance or mechanical remediation for this known defect due to a lack of service records. The failure of this component represents both a significant mechanical defect and a severe threat to driver and public safety. This report is being filed to formally document the hazardous nature of this failure in transit, as well as the manufacturer's refusal to address or take accountability for an ongoing, documented issue.

I own a 2019 Honda Accord Sport 1.5T that has an ongoing, unresolved engine/powertrain problem causing severe loss of acceleration, jerking, and a flashing check-engine light. The exact component causing the failure is UNKNOWN. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I initially took the vehicle to an authorized Honda dealership and paid over $300 for diagnosis. Honda diagnosed the fuel injectors. I then paid approximately $800 at an independent shop to replace the fuel injectors, but the same problem continued. The vehicle was later evaluated by other repair providers. I was advised that the problem could involve the turbocharger wastegate actuator and, separately, the spark plugs and ignition coil packs. I replaced the spark plugs and coil packs, but the problem continued. Another shop later tightened/adjusted the wastegate actuator, but the vehicle continues experiencing the same issue. During a failure while driving, the vehicle lost acceleration, jerked, and the check-engine light flashed. The engine would run/turn over, but the vehicle would not accelerate or move normally when the accelerator was pressed. This left me unable to reliably maintain speed with traffic. My [XXX] daughter was with me when the vehicle became disabled, leaving us stranded on the side of the road in the summer heat until someone could pick us up. The sudden loss of acceleration created a risk of collision and left us exposed to roadside traffic and high temperatures. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Honda dealer and multiple independent repair providers. Despite multiple diagnoses and repairs, the dangerous loss-of-power condition continues. Vehicle caused a SEVERE drivability condition while at highway speeds by sputtering, losing power and auxiliary driver's systems becoming degraded. We were able to drive the vehicle in limp mode to a near service station. They ran diagnostics and determined that there were multiple secondary events affecting the ADAS system. They also checked the battery and determined it was marginally good. We managed to drive the vehicle in degraded mode to our home and we changed the battery the following day. Upon doing so, all affected systems became available again and the vehicle's driveability profile was restored. This behavior is incredibly unsettling and UNSAFE. A vehicle that is so sensitive to electrical fluctuations should have BETTER warning systems that would prevent, or at least advise the driver, that an unsafe condition will occur unless the battery is promptly replaced. This behavior could easily cause an accident if the driver is unprepared to react to the vehicle sudden and unpredictable shutdown of engine power and safety systems. This needs to be investigated and corrective measures need to be promptly proposed to affected vehicle.

I was driving on the highway in Michigan, the speed limit is 70 mph. All of a sudden, I noticed that my car acceleration was not working. It ended up my engine misfired and in doing so, I could not go more than 20 mph on the actual highway!!! it was absolutely terrifying, even when I put on my emergency lights, I had to find a place to safely pull aside. I still had to pull out in front of someone to try to get off the exit, so pulling out in front of someone at 20 mph on the highway was petrifying. Once, I finally was able to pull into a safe place. I immediately called my insurance company and Honda about the misfiring of my engine. My car was then towed to a Honda dealership, where technicians diagnosed a blown head gasket caused by coolant leaking into a cylinder. The only warning light was the “check engine” flashing light when I was unable to drive more than 20 mph. My vehicle went limp. The repair required replacement of the head gasket at significant personal expense About $6k +.

My car began to not turn on. Took it to the dealership, was told it was the turbocharge being loose. They saw coolant leaking. Paid for the fix. Few days later, car lost power and entered lint mode. Took it back and with simple camera work they check the gasket was leaking. Told that since the turbo before wasn’t working as intended, the gasket became thin. Repairs are above 6k, had no warning lights. Seems this is a common issue.

I received a warning light indicating my car was reaching maximum internal temperature. I immediately shut off the car, then took it to the Honda service center the next morning. The first problems began in March 2026. No warning lamps turned on. My car began jabbing as I accelerated and a couple days after when I was breaking too. The first mechanic said it could be a coil but the problem didn’t stop after changing it. I then took it to Honda and they confirmed that it was a blown head gasket and that they were surprised no warning messages had appeared. I took it to Empire Automotive to get it fixed, I paid 5K to get it fixed. Three months after getting it fixed I am getting on the freeway and my car stops accelerating. The car behind me had to swerve on the side to avoid hitting me. I was able to move over to the side. Again no warning messages had shown up. I took it back to the mechanic and they confirmed the head gasket had blown out again.

My car was stalling on the highway not going over 40, a perfectly maintained 88k mile car that is stock and only used for work and light leisure. The weak engine head gasket is to blame for coolant seeping into cyclinder 3. A very known defect with the 1.5 turbocharged engines recently. I can’t drive the car normal have to drive 60mph or under the radio went out and Honda can’t seem to figure out why so I can’t connect CarPlay. Myself and my kids are at risk due to the car randomly cutting off at any given time. I took it to Honda twice and my car has not been checked they constantly say they’re backed up but don’t have any rentals in stock. Can’t get the car inspection done because the lights are on. The head gasket has failed and Honda knows this is an issue. There is a lawsuit in California about the head gasket failing. With it failing the whole engine is at risk for being ruined. This is going to cost $4000-$10,000 for people to fix depending on the damage it causes the engine. I personally lost acceleration on the freeway while going up a hill and everyone around me going 65-80 mph. I have 11 warning lights on my car right now and it started overheating today with a warning stating that the engine was hot and to stop driving immediately. We had to get towed to the mechanic for the 2nd time this week. When searching online I realized this was a known issue and about the class action lawsuit.

While driving, my Check Engine light cam on suddenly, along with my entire dashboard lighting up with all kinds of warning lights. At that moment, the engine ran very rough while attempting to push the accelerator pedal to maneuver out of traffic, feeling like there was no power. With that, I also noticed the temperature gauge start to increase towards the hot limit, though there was no venting of steam from the radiator. I stopped my car on the side, turned the car off, and waited u til it cooled down before attempting to start it again. When restart after a period of time, I noticed what smelled like coolant coming from the exhaust. I have not been able to bring the vehicle to a mechanic to diagnose the issue just yet.
