2011 Hyundai Elantra headlight problems

EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH

Brake pedal stopper deterioration. The brake pedal stopper pad deteriorates, allowing the brake light switch plunger to remain extended when the brake pedal is released. If the brake light switch plunger does not retract as it should when the brake pedal is not being pressed, the brake lights stay illuminated, preventing accurate communication to following vehicles that the vehicle is slowing or stopping. Additionally, if the brake switch plunger is not retracted, then the transmission can be shifted out of "park" without depressing the brake pedal. Consequently, the risk of a crash increases with either condition. This is an issue Hyundai has had to recall other models/years for! This issue drained my battery completely and I had to pay $60 out of pocket to figure out what was going on. The brake pedal stopper pad is just $1.80 USD at the dealership. Hub Hyundai wanted to charge me $80 initially to install it, when they DID NOT report this problem to me when they "inspected" my car on 08-10-21, I took it to them because of another recall on my vehicle. They supposedly "inspected" my car and gave me a list of repairs "needed" which didn't include this issue. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure occurred. This happened on 08-27-21. It was my neighbor who told me the lights on my car were on all night! I usually don't go out at night, no way to notice they were not turning off. No wonder why my battery got drained!

EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS

The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated while operating the vehicle, the rear brake lights failed to illuminate while depressing the brake pedal. Upon inspection, it was discovered that all three brake lights were inoperable. The contact replaced the bulbs and the pedal switch however, the failure persisted. In addition, the traction control warning light remains illuminated while operating the vehicle. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 118,000.

DURING THE PAST THREE YEARS I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE ALL OF THE BRAKE LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS LIGHTS, DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS AT LEAST EVERY THREE MONTHS AND WHEN REMOVING THE BULBS THEY ARE HARD TO GET OUT AND THE CONNECTOR IS MELTED AND BURNT. THE TURN SIGNALS WILL SHORT OUT AND THEN WORK AGAIN REGULARLY WHILE IN MOTION AND STATIONARY.

CAR STALLS WHILE IN MOTION AND COMING TO STOPS. ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE A DIESEL TRUCK AND ALSO HAS A TICKING NOISE. CONSTANTLY HAVING TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHT BULBS FRONT AND BACK. THE CAR SENSORS KEEP GOING UP. THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR IS NOT SENDING A SIGNAL THAT THE CAR IS IN MOTION. WHEN PULL OUT ON TO A STREET OR HIGHWAY AND PRESS THE ACCELERATOR SOMETIMES MY CAR WILL STALL OR DROP SPEED. I FEAR SOMEONE WILL END UP RUNNING INTO THE BACK OF ME. WHEN I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP THE CAR WILL STALL OR WILL NOT ACCELERATE. ALSO THE CAR HEADLIGHTS AND TAILS TIGHT BULBS BLOW WITHIN 4 OR 5 DAYS AFTER PUTTING NEW BULBS IN. THE CAM SENSOR FOR THE BACK UP CAMERA DOES NOT WORK AS WELL.

I HAVE 2011 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AT APPROXIMATELY 118000 M FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER. TOOK TO DEALER & WAS TOLD CAR ISN'T PART OF RECALL, SO I WOULD NEED TO PAY FOR REPAIR OF APPROX $300. I DIDN'T REPAIR AS I SEE SAME COMPLAINT FROM MANY OWNERS. ALSO, ALL BACK END OF CAR LIGHTING HAS TO BE REPLACED EVERY 6 MONTHS. THERE HAS GOT TO BE A DEFECT WITH SOME WAY IT WAS MANUFACTURED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
