Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6, 2023-2026 Genesis G90, 2024-2026 Hyundai Santa Fe, and Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid vehicles. The driver and passenger seat belt anchors may detach.

Risk: A detached seat belt anchor will not adequately restrain the seat occupant, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the lower anchor for the front seat belt(s) may have been damaged during service. As a result, the seat belt(s) could detach in a crash. Note: For the 2026 model year Santa Fe, this recall only affects the Santa Fe hybrid (HEV) model. Safety Risk: A seat belt that detaches in a crash could increase the risk of injury. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and reinforce the lower seat belt anchors. The seat belt assemblies will be replaced, as necessary.

Issue : Hyundai Auto Canada is conducting an extended warranty campaign for certain vehicles as water could enter the horn assembly and cause the horn's electrical contacts to corrode. As a result, the horn may not work properly or at all. Safety risk: A horn that doesn't work properly could prevent a driver from warning others of a danger and create an unsafe situation. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Hyundai advises you to test the horn regularly. Hyundai will notify owners in writing and advise you to contact a dealership if your horn doesn't work properly. Hyundai will provide an extended warranty of 10 years/200 000 km to replace the horn for free if it fails.

Issue: Over time, the integrated charging control unit (ICCU) could become damaged. As a result, the 12 V battery will not charge and could cause the vehicle to enter a reduced power mode. If this happens, and you continue to drive the vehicle, there could be a loss of power to the wheels. Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2024-174. Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair. This problem will cause a warning light to turn on and warning messages to display before any loss of power. For the Genesis GV70 and G80 models, only the electric versions (EV) are affected. Safety Risk: A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Hyundai will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the vehicle software. The dealer will also inspect and, if necessary, replace the ICCU and ICCU fuse.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS

On the afternoon of February 12, 2024 (5:12pm), I was driving northbound on I-71 at highway speed, approximately 75mph. My Hyundai Ioniq 6 alerted me of a (non-existent) impending front-end collision, and within 1 second of the alert starting, the automatic emergency braking system activated. This resulted in the violent (and unexpected) braking of my car to around 25mph. There was no clear reason for the collision detection alert or the automatic emergency brake. The light was good and there was no significant weather. There were no vehicles immediately in front or behind me. (Nearest car in front was over a quarter mile away.) The force of the braking was sufficiently strong that I am still sore in my shoulder and back a week later. I am fortunate that there wasn't a car close behind me, as I likely would have been rear-ended due to the unexpected and abrupt nature of the braking. The vehicle was taken in for service (invoice attached) and "calibrated". Within 10 miles of getting back on the highway, warnings (but no braking) triggered again. My 2023 Ioniq 6 is not charging as it has for 3 years. When charging to 100% my app States 347 and 382 miles. It should be 361 as stated by Hyundai. What happens if I drive under 45 mph after 5 miles the miles goes down to 303. It is not working as stated. It is not holding miles properly.

The shift-by-wire system failed while the vehicle was being parked. The vehicle would not shift out of Drive; repeated attempts to engage Park resulted in Neutral only, with a "PARK malfunction. Engage parking brake when parking vehicle." warning displayed in the instrument cluster. Because this vehicle requires Park to be engaged before it can be powered off, the vehicle also could not be turned off. I was trapped with an energized vehicle that could not be secured in Park or shut down for approximately 30 minutes. A red 12-volt battery warning lamp was illuminated in the instrument cluster during the event (photo attached showing the malfunction message, Neutral gear state, and battery warning lamp). I secured the vehicle using the electronic parking brake. Safety risk: a vehicle that cannot engage Park or power off risks rollaway and leaves the driver unable to safely exit and secure the vehicle, particularly on a grade or in traffic. This is the second occurrence of a shift-to-park failure on this vehicle. The vehicle was previously taken to an authorized dealer for the same symptom; the dealer cleared diagnostic codes without repair and the problem recurred. The vehicle is scheduled for further dealer diagnosis and is available for inspection upon request. The ICCU recall remedy (Recall 272) was previously completed on this vehicle per the manufacturer's campaign records.

While driving on the highway, there was a complete loss of power and steering. I was able to navigate to the side of the road. The vehicle would not start on multiple occasions, and no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was stated that the issue could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 18,000.

We were able to drive it home (less than 1mi away) and then called the Dealership. The car was then towed to the dealer (but needed a jump as the 12v battery had drained). The dealer diagnosed a failure of the ICCU and replaced it. The vehicle was in the shop for approximately 2 weeks. More recently, on May 3rd of 2026, the vehicle experienced a complete deceleration as it was traveling through an intersection. No error lights or warning messages were displayed. I was only able to partially clear the intersection before the vehicle came to a complete stop. At this time the vehicle would not allow itself to be put into neutral so I could not push it out of the intersection. After approximately 5min of attempting to move the vehicle, it once again began responding to accelerator requests and I was able to drive it home. It is now with the dealer and I await their response.

On March 19, 2026 my Hyundai Ioniq 6 broke. It was clearly the ICCU problem. The car went into turtle mode with a maximum speed of 22 miles an hour and told me to get to a safe area , stop the car and have it brought in. It was brought to my local Hyundai dealer and a few days later they confirmed it was the ICCU problem. This is a safety issue. Fortunately I was 1 mile from my house and did not get stranded. Hyundai has had four years to fix the problem and obviously they have not done so. The car was a 2023 with about 23,000 miles on it.

I HAD TO RENT A CAR FOR ALMOST TWO MONTHS. THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN WITH THE ICCU HAPPENED ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND THEY STILL HAVE MY CAR. IN A ANOTHER GAS RENTAL CAR.

The fuel door/charge door would not open. Conditions were such that I was safe and had sufficient range without charging, but were I farther from home this could have left me stranded. The problem has not been confirmed by a dealer, other service center, manufacturer, police, or insurance representative, though a friend was not able to open it either/confirmed the issue was not "user error". There were no warnings. The incident occurred after rain in the prior evening, followed by below freezing temperatures. The fuel/plug door opened in the afternoon when temperatures were warmer.

I leased a 2023 Ioniq 6 electric car on September 2023. Since leasing the vehicle, the vehicle has been towed four times for the same problem, the parking brake malfunctions rendering the vehicle unusable. I have multiple photos and videos documenting this. This has happened either after parking the vehicle and attempting to turn it off, or after turning on the car after being parked. The first three times this happened the vehicle remained in neutral and would not change into any other gear. The car would not turn off or lock. The last time it happened again the car stayed in neutral and would not change gears, but I was still able to turn it off and lock it. Below is a summary of all the times the car was towed and how many days it was in the dealer. 1.December 12, 2025 (towed to dealership #1) to December 19, 2025: 8 days, no action taken, unable to find the cause of the problem 2.December 20, 2025 (towed to dealership #1) to December 29, 2025: 10 days, no action taken, unable to find the cause of the problem. Note the car failed again the day after it was returned to me on December 19. 3.January 2, 2026 (towed to dealership #2) to January 13, 2026: 12 days. Changed the 12V battery and replaced the VCU, vehicle control unit as an educated guess based on conversations with the Hyundai engineering team as the initial diagnostic scan failed to pinpoint the problem. 4.March 12, 2026 (towed to dealership #2). As of tMarch 15, 2026 the car is in the dealership for repairs for the same problem. Since this problem is likely related to the electric car’s electronics, it has been both challenging to diagnose, and extremely unpredictable and dangerous when it happens without any previous actionable warnings. The fact that the parking brake malfunctions and cannot engage, and that in addition the car gets stuck in neutral, is an extremely serious safety concern that could result in an accident, injury or death.

January 28, 2026 The vehicle has stopped in the middle Of the street with sign «loss of power, check your battery» or something like that and after few attempts to turn it off and on it went to Accessory mode. After 15-20 minutes it completely died. So unsafe with kids in the car during extreme cold temperatures. Free Hyundai road assistance- quoted me 3 hours or so, i had to pay for towing elsewhere. No doubts its iccu, since tow truck driver attempted to jump start and from dead it went to accessory mode and died again almost instantly. I read on the Facebook about iccu problem of Hyundai, if this is engineering defect it should be remedied.

The vehicle popped up a screen that said check power source. Then within 30 seconds went into limp mode said power was limited and couldn't drive faster the. 25mph in the middle of a highway. By the time I pulled over to the side of the road my car was dead. Ive been trying to get Hyundai and the dealership to dignose the issue. Based on the error codes I was given it appears to be a dead iccu and 12v battery. I am in a ioniq group on Facebook and over the last week of being in it I've counted over 50 dead iccu on this group alone. All in one week.
