ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

1. The HORN suddenly stops working. This happened 3x in a 6 month span. The first time the horn wouldn't work all day. However, next day it did. Second time it didn't work for 3 days. Last time it stopped working completely just before Memorial Day weekend. I have read it is a known issue in Hyundai Ioniq 6 forums. 2. Forward Collision Warning is to Invasive. Once it even stopped on the freeway while trying to merge in a difficult interchange. 2 cars almost hit me from behind when my car suddenly stopped. I was however in complete control of the situation. 3. Rear Backup camera stops to much when person is 8 feet past my car. It just suddenly STOPS even when person is walking away from the car. Snaps my neck too. Also, stops at night after rain. I believe it sees a reflection and thinks it is a hazard.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

I experienced a safety critical failure in my 2024 Hyundai Ionic 6. While attempting to start the vehicle, the car displayed a red 12 Volt battery warning light, a battery discharge warning, and then refused to enter ready mode. The vehicle would only shift into neutral and was completely undrivable. After sitting for many hours, the vehicle started again, which is consistent with an intermittent ICCU/DC-DC converter dropout. This type of failure is known to cause loss of power and has been documented in NHTSA investigation PE23-011 for other Hyundai EV's. The dealership states they cannot replicate the issue and refuses further diagnostics. Hyundai corporate is deferring entirely to the dealership and will not authorize a loaner or confirm reimbursement, leaving me without transportation. They also stated they cannot commit to any repair unless the failure happens again despite the clear safety implications. This failure mode can cause sudden loss of motive power, which poses a serious risk if it occurs at highway speeds. I am reporting this because the vehicle is unsafe to operate, the failure was severe, and Hyundai is refusing to investigate the root cause unless it reoccurs. I am requesting NHTSA review this incident as part of the ongoing concerns regarding ICCU/DC-DC failures in Hyundai E-GMP vehicles.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

"While driving a 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6 at approximately 10,000 miles, the vehicle experienced a sudden, catastrophic Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) failure with no advance warning. The vehicle instantly experienced a total electrical shutdown while the car was on the ramp. The failure completely bypassed and disabled standard safety redundancies: the electronic parking brake/emergency brake system failed , and the 12-volt backup battery died instantly, making it impossible to activate the hazard lights. The vehicle became a completely invisible, immovable dead weight on an active roadway, presenting an imminent, extreme threat of crash, injury, or death to myself and surrounding motorists. I was holding my breath and have to call AAA road side emergency assistance, only when an external battery is connected I could move the car in "Turtle Mode" to a safe spot. The manufacturer has replaced the ICCU, but the total failure of critical emergency safety and braking indicators poses a fundamental safety defect that needs federal investigation."

2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 Austin, TX

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The shift-by-wire system failed while the vehicle was being parked. The vehicle would not shift out of Drive; repeated attempts to engage Park resulted in Neutral only, with a "PARK malfunction. Engage parking brake when parking vehicle." warning displayed in the instrument cluster. Because this vehicle requires Park to be engaged before it can be powered off, the vehicle also could not be turned off. I was trapped with an energized vehicle that could not be secured in Park or shut down for approximately 30 minutes. A red 12-volt battery warning lamp was illuminated in the instrument cluster during the event (photo attached showing the malfunction message, Neutral gear state, and battery warning lamp). I secured the vehicle using the electronic parking brake. Safety risk: a vehicle that cannot engage Park or power off risks rollaway and leaves the driver unable to safely exit and secure the vehicle, particularly on a grade or in traffic. This is the second occurrence of a shift-to-park failure on this vehicle. The vehicle was previously taken to an authorized dealer for the same symptom; the dealer cleared diagnostic codes without repair and the problem recurred. The vehicle is scheduled for further dealer diagnosis and is available for inspection upon request. The ICCU recall remedy (Recall 272) was previously completed on this vehicle per the manufacturer's campaign records.

Recall 272 - ICCU Ioniq 6 : ICCU fuse and update were required. Dealership ONLY did update. Did not replace fuse. Vehicle was "updated" for Recall 272 on 2/19/2025. Jenkins Hyundai Service Mgr, Savannah, confirmed on 5/18/2026 that this information is correct. In March 2026, the power seating failed to operate. This is directly related to Recall 272. However, when the vehicle was taken in for service, the dealership failed to diagnose and ONLY repaired pieces related to the seat. The vehicle was taken in on 3/18/2026 and stayed at the dealership for "repair" until 4/4/2026. This should have triggered the dealership to the Recall 272. On [XXX], within 1 hour of picking up the vehicle, all alarms went off indicating to stop driving the vehicle due to an electronic system error. DTCP1A9096. The vehicle was inoperable and had to be towed to the dealership. This should have triggered the dealership, again, to the Recall 272. On 4/22/2026, I was informed the vehicle was ready for pickup after replacement of the 12 volt battery. The issue was, again, directly related to the unrepaired recall 272. I was told that the 12 volt was not holding a charge. This should have triggered the dealership service, with the original issue, that it related back to the Recall 272. On [XXX] the power seats failed to operate. Again, related back to Recall 272. On May 9, 2026, the vehicle was taken to the dealership. On May 11, 2026 the dealership called to say that the fuse blew and was repaired. I refused to pick-up the vehicle siting extreme concerns for my safety given that the underlying issue has yet to be diagnosed. The vehicle remains that the dealership as of 5/20/206 without any further diagnostics completed. A claim with Hyundai USA was submitted on May 8, 2026. Hyundai USA has failed to take any action after multiple attempts to speak with someone. All matters, again, relate back to Recall 272. The vehicle has now been at dealership for over 40 days since March 18 INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION

2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 East Longmeadow, MA

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

In November of 2025 the vehicle displayed a "Check Eletrical System" error message. Shortly thereafter the vehicle decelerated to under 10mph as we were turning into traffic. We were able to drive it home (less than 1mi away) and then called the Dealership. The car was then towed to the dealer (but needed a jump as the 12v battery had drained). The dealer diagnosed a failure of the ICCU and replaced it. The vehicle was in the shop for approximately 2 weeks. More recently, on May 3rd of 2026, the vehicle experienced a complete deceleration as it was traveling through an intersection. No error lights or warning messages were displayed. I was only able to partially clear the intersection before the vehicle came to a complete stop. At this time the vehicle would not allow itself to be put into neutral so I could not push it out of the intersection. After approximately 5min of attempting to move the vehicle, it once again began responding to accelerator requests and I was able to drive it home. It is now with the dealer and I await their response.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

I was driving at 60mph. I heard a sudden pop that felt like it came from behind me / under the car. While I glanced to see if I ran over something (I did not), the car suddenly felt like it was about to stall. It was slowing down quickly and dramatically. My safety was in danger as I quickly dropped speeds in heavy traffic on a freeway without warning. I was able to maintain control, and I turned my hazards on. I noticed that I was maintaining speed around 35-40 mph (no matter how heavy I hit the accelerator), and I moved to the right lane and continued while wondering if my car would survive all the way home. Luckily I was only about 1 mile from my house at that point, so I proceeded at a low rate of speed and ultimately made it home. It was scary, sudden, and put me and others on the road in danger. A couple of warnings popped up saying "Electrical System issue" and something else that was related to electronics. The vehicle was towed to the dealership that night, and diagnostics and repairs began the following day. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer to be an ICCU failure that needs to be replaced. There were zero warnings prior to the failure--the car was working perfectly up until that moment. Anything is available for inspection, but as I mentioned it's being replaced as we speak so the broken / malfunctioning part wouldn't be there anymore if someone looked at it.

On March 19, 2026 my Hyundai Ioniq 6 broke. It was clearly the ICCU problem. The car went into turtle mode with a maximum speed of 22 miles an hour and told me to get to a safe area , stop the car and have it brought in. It was brought to my local Hyundai dealer and a few days later they confirmed it was the ICCU problem. This is a safety issue. Fortunately I was 1 mile from my house and did not get stranded. Hyundai has had four years to fix the problem and obviously they have not done so. The car was a 2023 with about 23,000 miles on it.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

On April 10,2026 I heard a pop while driving and a check electrical system light came on, my vehicle lost power while driving. This appears to be a common problem with ioniq5 and 6 going back years. Also failure in their ICCU and 12 volt batteries.A veh. Losing power unexpectedly could lead to a collision, injury or worse.my Ioniq 6 was recently serviced and only has 14,794 miles.I respectfully urge the national highway traffic safety administration to: 1.continue and expand investigation into electrical system failures in the Hyundai ioniq 6 and 5. Also 2. Ensure that affected vehicles are properly repaired with permanent solutions or the company should have to buy back the unsafe defective vehicles. Also 3. Require clearer and more immediate warnings to drivers regarding the risk of sudden power loss. Drivers should not have to keep experiencing this safety risk, after all these years of it being reported.

"While traveling in fast-moving traffic, my 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 6 suffered a catastrophic electrical system failure and an immediate loss of motive power. The vehicle instantly entered a 'limp mode' and dropped to a maximum speed of 11 mph, creating a life-threatening hazard for myself and surrounding drivers. There were no warning lamps or symptoms prior to this sudden failure. The vehicle was towed to a certified Hyundai dealer (Ricart Hyundai), where a diagnostic scan confirmed a failure of the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) with error code DTC P1A9096. This failure is directly related to the known issues in Recall 257. The dealer has confirmed that the replacement ICCU is currently on indefinite backorder with no estimated time of arrival (ETA). The vehicle and failed component are currently at the dealership and available for inspection upon request."

I was driving on the highway, 65mph when I had a sudden loss of power, check electrical system warning and a battery picture came on. I was reduced to approx 10mph suddenly in rush hour traffic, in the left lane, with no shoulder to pull over to. I was able, with the kindness of other drivers slowing down, able to move to the right lane, then to the shoulder. Called AAA for tow to dealership. 12v battery and ICCU damage.

ICCU failed. The car suddenly decelerated from 40mph to 25mph or less with no warning. The ICCU is confirmed to be an issue for Hyundai. I had the software update to fix the problem in 2025. It is currently at the dealership in Fort Mill, SC. DTC error code shows it as an ICCU failure. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There were no warning lamps to until the failure occurred.

2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 Saint Louis, MO

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

I leased a 2023 Ioniq 6 electric car on September 2023. Since leasing the vehicle, the vehicle has been towed four times for the same problem, the parking brake malfunctions rendering the vehicle unusable. I have multiple photos and videos documenting this. This has happened either after parking the vehicle and attempting to turn it off, or after turning on the car after being parked. The first three times this happened the vehicle remained in neutral and would not change into any other gear. The car would not turn off or lock. The last time it happened again the car stayed in neutral and would not change gears, but I was still able to turn it off and lock it. Below is a summary of all the times the car was towed and how many days it was in the dealer. 1.December 12, 2025 (towed to dealership #1) to December 19, 2025: 8 days, no action taken, unable to find the cause of the problem 2.December 20, 2025 (towed to dealership #1) to December 29, 2025: 10 days, no action taken, unable to find the cause of the problem. Note the car failed again the day after it was returned to me on December 19. 3.January 2, 2026 (towed to dealership #2) to January 13, 2026: 12 days. Changed the 12V battery and replaced the VCU, vehicle control unit as an educated guess based on conversations with the Hyundai engineering team as the initial diagnostic scan failed to pinpoint the problem. 4.March 12, 2026 (towed to dealership #2). As of tMarch 15, 2026 the car is in the dealership for repairs for the same problem. Since this problem is likely related to the electric car’s electronics, it has been both challenging to diagnose, and extremely unpredictable and dangerous when it happens without any previous actionable warnings. The fact that the parking brake malfunctions and cannot engage, and that in addition the car gets stuck in neutral, is an extremely serious safety concern that could result in an accident, injury or death.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

On the evening of February 11, 2026, my 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6 SEL experienced a complete ICCU failure while I was traveling with my minor son. The vehicle became fully inoperable and left us stranded on the side of the road at night, in the middle of a winter storm. I was forced to call for a tow truck, wait in dangerous conditions, and arrange emergency transport for myself and my child. The vehicle was towed to Visions Hyundai of Henrietta, located in Rochester, New York. That was over three weeks ago. As of the date of my complaint, my vehicle remains at the dealership. I have been told that the replacement ICCU part is on indefinite backorder, with no estimated delivery date provided. I am left making full monthly payments on a vehicle I cannot drive.

ICCU failure. Sudden total electrical shutdown. According to this site, there was a recall filled but NOT COMPLETE since November 2024! We are now February 2026. There has been NO warning issued to Hyundai consumers about this. When the ICCU fails, it puts consumers at risk. When it happened to me, there was no shoulder to pull onto. Because there was a snowstorm that morning, the flatbed tow truck did not come for 3 hours. My car was in the shop for 3 days. The bottom line is that the failure of communication about this defect puts consumers at risk!

After several days of below freezing temps, started car after work and received "check electrical systems" warning. Couldn't drive above 15-25 mph. Eventually led to total shutdown, could not start, lock/unlock doors, etc. Had to tow to dealer which they eventually deemed the ICCU to be at fault. 12v battery was dead and new battery they put in to test died it sounds like as well. Or they "recreated the problem" was their words after trying to claim it was only a bad 12v battery.
