While driving my 2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid at approximately 20-25 mph approaching a red light, a sudden and total loss of brake power-assist occurred. Upon applying the brakes, the pedal became instantly rigid and rock-hard. Despite pumping the pedal multiple times and applying heavy manual foot pressure, the vehicle failed to stop, resulting in a low-speed rear-end collision with a stationary car stopped at the traffic light. No dashboard warning lights or malfunction indicators illuminated during or immediately following the event. After the collision, the vehicle's ignition was turned off and then restarted. Following this power cycle, normal braking functionality temporarily returned. The low-speed impact displaced an ultrasonic sensor in the front bumper. This intermittent electronic brake failure poses a catastrophic safety hazard to pedestrians and occupants if it recurs at higher speeds

The contact stated that while driving in snow mode on an icy road at 25 MPH from a stop sign, the brake system suddenly became inoperable, and the vehicle traveled through a stop sign and crashed into an unknown GMC vehicle. The contact mentioned that there was no skidding, and the vehicle was in snow mode to enhance the driving experience. There were no warning lights illuminated. 2024 Hyundai Tucson SEL Convenience Hybrid Recall:Hyundai Campaign 290/NHSTA 23V-187 (subsequent Tucson tow harness fire recalls) My vehicle was brought into an authorized Hyundai dealership to address the safety hazard associated with the accessory tow hitch wiring harness recall. The dealership resolved the immediate fire hazard by completely disconnecting and removing the functional trailer wiring harness from my vehicle. My physical repair invoice explicitly states: "repair complete-disconnected the positive connector and removed OEM harness from the vehicle, installing a dust cap." No replacement harness was installed. Because this physical removal occurred, Hyundai's internal corporate warranty system has offically marked the safety recall as "Closed" and completed for my VIN. However, the manufacturer has failed to provide a safe, functional remedy to restore the vehicle's advertised and purchased towing utility. When checking with Hyundai Customer Care, I am told the redesigned waterproof harness (Part #CWF61-AU100) cannot be ordered or allocated to my vehicle because the computer systems views the safety risk as resolved and the recall closed. I called Findlay Hyundai in St. George to see if they had the part number CWF61-AU100, he said he did not but Ontario had some & could get the part in a few days. The manufacturer's remedy is inadequate. By permanently removing a functional utility to satisfy a safety metric, without providing a safe, operating replacement part. Hyundai has effectively disabled the towing capabilities of my vehicle without offering a true remedy. I am requesting that NHSTA compel Hyundai to reopen or provide a distinct parts-allocation path for vehicles that had their wiring harness removed rather than replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V893000 (Trailer Hitches); and the contact became aware that there was no wiring harness on the vehicle after recall repair. The dealer informed the contact that removing the wiring harness and installing a dust cap was included in the recall remedy as provided by the manufacturer. The contact stated that the vehicle was not safe to haul a trailer because the brake lights and turn signals would be inoperable. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. On XXX we were driving from [XXX] to [XXX]. Going through the [XXX] mountains on [XXX]. At an elevation of about 6,000 ft. temperature was about 85, speed about 55 mph the window in the back seat (behind the driver) imploded with a huge bang (sounded like a bomb went off). Glass was all over the back seat. I thought someone had shot at our car. I was with a retired CHP and he confirmed no bullets or rocks - this window just spontaneously exploded sending glass shards like shrapnel in the car! Besides the noise of the explosion, which could have caused the driver to veer off the road, if anyone had been in the back seat they could have been killed or seriously wounded from the flying shrapnel. In talking with other people, I found out NHTSA has an open engineering analysis (DP23001) investigation regarding this issue. This is very serious and should NOT be allowed to happen. Appears there is defective glass in some Hyundai Tucson's - not sure if the pressure of going over the mountains had anything to do with it or the design of the car but I'm leery of driving this car now! I own a 2024 Hyundai Tucson hybrid SEL with a genuine Hyundai trailer hitch & trailer wiring harness that were installed by a Hyundai dealer. My vehicle was included in Recall P90. As part of the recall, the dealer disconnected & removed the wiring harness because Hyundai did not have an approved replacement available. As a result of the recall, my trailer lights no longer function. I can no longer legally or safely tow my boat trailer because the trailer has no brake lights, turn signals, or running lights. Before the recall, the trailer wiring worked properly. I contacted Hyundai Customer Care & requested an approved replacement wiring solution at no cost. I explained that the recall removed a factory-approved, dealer installed towing function but did not provide a remedy that restores the vehicle's towing capability. Hyundai advised me that no replacement remedy is currently available & would not escalate my concern. I believe this is an unreasonable lack of remedy for a safety recall. The recall has left my vehicle unable to safely perform the towing function for which it was equipped. I am requesting that Hyundai provide an approved replacement trailer wiring solution that fully restores the original towing capability at no cost to owners. No repair date is given for this repair. My 2024 Hyundai Tucson hybrid has been returned to the dealership on 3/20/26 and 4/10/26 to replace failed rear shocks and are now scheduled for replacement on 4/27/26 under warranty. I was told by Matthews Hyundai dealership that the part may have been defective the first time but after having the shocks fail again it is clearly a defect in design. The bouncing and ride is dangerous. Rear shock failure is a major safety hazard because it severely compromises vehicle stability, drastically reducing control during braking, cornering, and emergency maneuvers. It leads to increased braking distances, excessive rear-end bouncing, poor handling, and accelerated wear on other suspension components, significantly increasing the risk of accidents. I do not want to have an accident due to a faulty part.

The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving in snow mode on an icy road at 25 MPH from a stop sign, the brake system suddenly became inoperable, and the vehicle traveled through a stop sign and crashed into an unknown GMC vehicle. The contact mentioned that there was no skidding, and the vehicle was in snow mode to enhance the driving experience. There were no warning lights illuminated. All the air bags deployed, and the driver was unable to see. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, while attempting to enter the vehicle, the key fob failed to function as intended. The contact was unable to unlock the doors to the vehicle. The contact noticed that the battery was completely drained. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The contact was informed that the vehicle needed to be started daily to prevent the battery from draining. The contact stated that the failure was persistent. The contact stated that because of the persistent failure, the contact was afraid to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 900.
