Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2019-2022 Veloster N, 2019-2023 Genesis G70, 2022-2023 Elantra N, and Kona N vehicles. The fuel pump may fail, which can result in a loss of drive power.

Risk: A loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash.

Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Santa Fe, Sonata, Veloster N, 2022 Santa Cruz, Elantra N, and Kona N vehicles. The vehicle's "fail-safe" limited-mobility drive mode may be impaired, when prompted by a transmission oil pump malfunction, which can result in a complete loss of drive power.

Risk: Loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

On August 15, 2026, while driving my 2022 Hyundai Veloster N, the electric power steering assist intermittently became noticeably heavier than normal. The vehicle’s steering remained mechanically controllable, but the increased steering effort was noticeable and raised a safety concern because the loss or reduction of steering assist occurred while the vehicle was being driven. I scanned the vehicle and found diagnostic trouble code C129002 in the EPS/MDPS system, described as a torque sensor signal fault. I also found DTC C168886 in the LKAS system. Both codes were reported as open at approximately 80,252 miles. After turning the vehicle off and restarting it, normal steering assist returned. The problem has since been intermittent, with the steering currently feeling normal, but the diagnostic codes were previously active and the vehicle experienced an actual change in steering effort while driving. This is not the first intermittent issue I have experienced with the vehicle. A similar steering-assist problem occurred a couple of months earlier. The vehicle has also experienced intermittent power loss on other occasions. I previously brought the vehicle to a Hyundai dealer for the intermittent power-loss concern, but the dealer was unable to reproduce or confirm the problem at that time. I do not know whether the intermittent power-loss issue is related to the steering-assist problem. The current steering problem has not yet been confirmed or repaired by a dealer or independent repair facility. I am concerned that an intermittent loss or reduction of electric power steering assist could recur unexpectedly while driving and increase the risk of losing adequate steering control, particularly at higher speeds or during an emergency maneuver.

The steering system failed while driving down the highway on two different ocassions. I got a warning message saying the driver att warning sys had malfunctioned (it wasn't on a the time) then after that message disappeared, I had a red light in the "steering column" symbol in the dash. The steering lost all power and it was really hard to drive the car as it felt like a car with no power steering at all but worse. If in a turn, it would want to stay in a turn and it would fight you to get it back to center coming out of the turns. I was able to get off the highway and nurse it to a parking lot. I checked the power steering fluid (thinking it might have leaked out), but it was there. Upon initial restart of the car the same messages and failure reappeared. However, after approximately 1 hr, I restarted the car and everything worked as normal. About 10 mins into the drive home, the same warning and cautions were displayed and the steering completely failed while driving. I was able to nurse the car to the nearest Hyundai dealership (RedMcCombs Hyundai Northwest in San Antonio, TX) and it has been there since 8 May with no resolution as they are awaiting approval from Hyundai to order a completely new steering rack assembly. However, the dealer noted that they had another Veloster N with ~60,000 miles come in for the same issue multiple times. My car's steering failed at ~41,000 miles. When I looked online, looks like many other Veloster N owners have suffered the same failure at random mileage. When I asked the dealership why the delay in the repairs, they stated that Hyundai might be considering a recall or providing a specific fix and that is why my car's repair approval has been delayed. He stated in the previous case, the repair approval was done after only a few days. My main concern is that they do not know what is actually wrong, and will just replace all steering rack system components without inspecting for actual faulty parts from the manufacturer or vendor

The ownership of my 2022 Hyundai Veloster N has been defined by an unresolved safety recall that has left the vehicle undriveable and in the dealer's possession for a month. My attempts to address the issue began in September 2024, when I brought the car in for the High-Pressure Fuel Pump recall (NHTSA 24V528). The dealer performed a software update but declined to replace the pump. The situation escalated on January 2, 2026, when the vehicle suffered a severe loss of power. The dealer then replaced the recalled pump, but the fix was unsuccessful. Immediately after leaving the dealership, the car failed again, stalling during a turn in traffic and creating a clear and dangerous situation. That incident initiated a cascade of failed repair attempts. Over the next several weeks, at Hyundai's direction, the dealer replaced the fuel sensor and then the fuel injectors, but the core problem remained. The impact has been significant. I have been without my personal vehicle for a month, forcing me to rearrange work and personal commitments to manage the situation. The dealership remains unable to diagnose the root cause, and after multiple failed attempts, my confidence in the safety and reliability of this vehicle has been completely undermined.

The issue involved the electronic power steering (EPS) system on my 2022 Hyundai Veloster N (approx. 70,000 miles). While driving, the EPS stopped providing steering assist and a fault warning appeared on the dash. After checking the engine bay fuse box, I found that the PDM 7.5A micro blade fuse (which powers the EPS circuit) appeared heat-discolored/burned. I replaced it with an identical 7.5A micro blade fuse, and the system later returned to normal operation. The original fuse that appeared damaged is still in my possession and is available for inspection upon request When the fuse failed, I suddenly lost power steering assist and the steering became extremely heavy, especially at low speeds. This made it difficult to turn the wheel for parking, lane changes, and tighter turns. This could have put my safety and others at risk because: •It required much more physical effort to steer, especially in a parking lot and at slower speeds. •In an emergency situation, it would have been harder to quickly avoid obstacles or other vehicles. •A less physically strong driver, or someone caught off guard, might not be able to maintain proper control, increasing the risk of a collision. No. The problem has not been reproduced or formally confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. After I replaced the PDM 7.5A fuse, the EPS warning and heavy steering condition went away and have not returned so far, so the failure has not been actively present for a shop to duplicate. No. The vehicle and the failed fuse have not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, dealer, police, insurance, or any other third party. At this time I have only inspected the fuse visually myself and replaced

Vehicle stalled after misfire in cylinder 4. No signs of problems prior to failure of injector number 4 at 14000 miles. Upon investigating prior history of vehicle owner, customer reported misfire on cylinder 2, and 4 at 3 thousand miles. Technician replaced injector 2 only. Months after, my vehicle stalled due to misfire in cylinder 1, which was corrected by restarting car. Injector number one was replaced. at the moment with only 24000 miles on vehicle, 3 out of 4 injectors have prematurely failed. After doing hpfp recall update on ECM, Dual clutch transmission was rough shifting from first to second at random intervals. This shift sounded very metallic and un-lubricated. Eventually, the banging sound went away after happening for 3 months. Vehicle does not run the same after update on ECM “Check lane assist system” warning randomly shows up on dash at different times before going away. FRONT VIEW CAMERA code is being reported by ECM along with C1642-02
