2017 Maserati Levante Campaign 17V161000 13 Mar 2017

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE

Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain 2017 Levante vehicles. Due to an engine software problem, at slow speeds such as stop-and-go traffic, the transmission may unexpectedly shift into neutral or the engine may shut off.

Risk: If the transmission shifts into neutral unexpectedly or if the engine shuts down without warning, it can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will update the engine control module software, free of charge. The recall began March 31, 2017. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737.

SEATS:FRONT ASSEMBLY:POWER ADJUST

Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain 2014-2017 Quattroporte and Ghibli, and 2017 Levante vehicles. Adjusting the front seats may cause the seat wiring harness to rub, possibly resulting in an electrical short.

Risk: An electrical short can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles, replacing the seat wiring harness, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began June 26, 2017. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 342.

2017 Maserati Levante Campaign 16V839000 18 Nov 2016

BACK OVER PREVENTION: CAMERA SYSTEM

Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain model year 2017 Quattroporte, Ghible, and Levante vehicles manufactured July 1, 2016, to November 14, 2016. In temperatures below freezing, the entertainment telematics module (ETM) may place itself in a protection mode, disabling the back-up camera.

Risk: If the back-up camera is inoperable, it may be more difficult for the operator to see people or objects behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or crash.

Remedy: Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will update the ETM software, free of charge. The recall began on December 30, 2016. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 327.

Maserati Levante recalls in Canada

Transport Canada runs its own recall programme. Its campaigns do not always mirror the American ones, so a Canadian owner reading a US-only list is reading about a different car than the one on their driveway.

Visual System

Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to appear on the display. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse gear. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Maserati will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to eligible vehicles to update the radio software. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a Maserati dealership.

Issue: On certain vehicles built with LED headlights and an Adaptive Front Lighting System, the headlights may not be aimed correctly. Certain vehicles may have incomplete welds on the front subframe due to a manufacturing error. This could cause the welds on the subframe to break, which could affect vehicle handling and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Seats And Restraints

On certain vehicles, the seat wiring harness layout may have been routed incorrectly during manufacturing. Through normal seat adjustment, this could cause the seat wiring harness to rub against metal points on the seat/seat frame assembly. Over time, this could lead to an inoperative seat adjustment system, and in some cases could result in an electrical short to ground between the seat wiring harness and the seat adjustment motor assembly, which could increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect routing and will secure and protect the seat wiring harness, and if necessary, install a new seat wiring harness.

On certain vehicles, the Entertainment-Telematics Module (ETM) may become inoperative when subjected to temperatures below Zero degrees Celsius. If this occurs, the backup camera image would not be displayed in the ETM which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property while reversing. Correction: Dealers update the Entertainment-Telematics Module.
