Driver Assist & Collision Avoidance complaints by model year
I keep getting coolant level low. I add coolant fluid into the tank and the warning message comes up again. I see no leaks under my vehicle so not sure if there’s a leak inside the tank itself or air leak somewhere but I’ve gotten that warning message about 10 or more times. Also as im driving the blind spot sensor just randomly goes off without a car or anything being next to me.
NHTSA complaint #11753409 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
While driving on the highway on three separate occasions the blind spot warning will pop up and show as inoperative, next the active break assist warning flashes as inoperative, and then the entire vehicle shows as inoperative and loses all acceleration and breaks down. This has happened three times. Stayed over night at the dealership they “drove it for 70 miles” it didn’t happen to them. They released the truck back to me saying it was perfectly fine. A day later it happened again while on the highway. Highly unsafe!

Rear view camera fails to initiate when placed in reverse. Screen doesn’t even try to switch to camera view. Exact same issue found in same make and model recalled with different vins. For some reason this one isn’t included in the recall. Car only has about 58,000 miles. Started around 56,000 miles. Note that camera even folds out of lift gate like normal when placed in park.
NHTSA complaint #11745532 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
The vehicle has repeatedly experienced a sudden loss of acceleration, entering a reduced-power state while driving. Most recently, this occurred less than one week after I was advised that the issue had been fully resolved through a relay replacement. Critically, these incidents have occurred while my [XXX] child was in the vehicle, creating an unsafe and unacceptable situation. Below is a summary of the work that was done to resolve the safety concern. October: Drivetrain/Powertrain control unit internal fault Replacement of gateway/powertrain control module Wiring, grounding, and software inspections November: Active Brake Assist, ESP, and voltage supply faults Failure of both rear wheel speed sensors Replacement of left and right rear wheel speed sensors December: Dealership identified a faulty relay as the root cause Relay replaced and vehicle returned to service January, the vehicle again lost acceleration. And now, again in February. The same loss in acceleration incident. At this point, the vehicle has demonstrated a pattern of unresolved, safety-critical electrical failures. Given the repeated nature of the issue, the prior replacement of major components, and the involvement of braking and drivetrain systems, I no longer feel confident that additional part replacement without corporate oversight will result in a safe or permanent resolution. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My 2020 GLE 350 first displayed a problem with left indicator on front left hand head lamp. I took an appointment with my Mercedes dealer for repair. Then it started showing all kinds of safety problems on the screen -like blind spot monitoring, collision warning etc not working. I parked it in my garage, shut off the engine, locked it and in a couple minutes, it started a blower like sound. I called Mercedes service center and described the problem. They sent a tow truck. While waiting for tow truck, the blower would automatically start every 3 to 4 minutes in a standing, switched off car which can be very dangerous. After diagnostics the authorized service center found the root cause to be a worn out seal which let condensation in the lamp assembly and the water entered in the electrical module. I have taken up the issue with Mercedes corporate. While they are investigating, I wanted to file this complaint so that if there are similar complaints in this model, it may be a manufacturing defect that needs a recall to fix the bad sealing

The main multimedia screen in the car has failed and is malfunctioning. Rear view parking camera only works some of the time. No access to temperature control. No access to navigation. No access to multimedia. The lack of functioning camera system has put myself and others at risk during parking and driving. This has been reported as a recall in the past (NHTSA 21V354, MBUSA Campaign 2021080009) and has been reportedly completed. My concern is that this repair/fix dis not sufficiently address the root of this issue and now the problem has returned.

Wire harness need to be replaces car is under 100k miles and the same issue has been recalled cla250 gla models with the same engine. Current model GLE is not under recall but has the same issue with the electrical issue “oil pump vavle connector fault” which cause engine light .

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
First incident on I5 around exit 186 9 car was cruise control was on. Speed was set at 65. Car was accelerating from 60 to 65 but all of a sudden it slams on the brakes when no car was in front from 60ish to 45. Almost caused the car in the back to hit us. Multiple incident of cruise control on and while automatic lane change it would hit the breaks mid lane change when no other car is present ( especially when the interstate is curving). Going i5 north express lane. Cruise control on there was dotted lines for left exit. Car would was pushed heavily by lane keep to the left. But the intent was to continue on i5 N. The push was a lot stronger than normal. Almost crashed into meridian

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
When operated with driver assist and stop and go assist, the car, often slams the brakes for no reason in the middle of the highway. I have reported this problem multiple times to the dealership and the dealership has kept the car in for investigation multiple times sometimes for more than two weeks. They were able to replicate the problem, but they had absolutely no solution. It’s been a few years now and it keeps happening. This is a liability issue us cars behind me are at risk to collide.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
On [XXX], after I purchased the vehicle on [XXX] from Mercedes Benz Midlothian with 57,000+ mile, this occurred. I was driving south on [XXX] near Fairfield VA, when the SUV started popping, with the roaring of the wheels. Then the vehicle started to slow down no matter what I did with the gas pedal. I then pulled over to the grassy area of the [XXX] , and the vehicle completed died - like a brick. The engine would not start up at all. Safety: The issues for me are the facts that I was traveling 1:45 minutes from my home and I was almost smashed in the rear-end by the traffic behind me - due to a vehicle that totally STOPPED on the highway with a speed limit of 70 miles an hours - without any warnings. I traded in a 2014 ML350 with 279,000+ plus miles and had no major issues with the SUV it was a charm. Now I am dealing with a HUGE issues after purchasing a 2021 vehicle [in three days]. I do not know what the problems are - as the dealership has not diagnosis the issues during this writing. There are no reports from the police, dealership, or manufacturers, insurance at this time of writing. The only warning lights that I was grant was the power of the SUV left the vehicle totally. Just ridiculous. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact owns a 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE350. The contact stated while driving in a rainstorm, the front windshield wipers would not properly clear the windshield, creating a visibility hazard for the driver. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the wiper arms and wiper blades, but the failure persisted. Additionally, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the Forward Collision Avoidance feature malfunctioned, causing the vehicle to abruptly even though there were no other vehicles or objects nearby, and the audible alarm erroneously activated with no other vehicles nearby. The dealer reprogrammed the Forward Collision Avoidance sensors, but the failure persisted. Additionally, while driving at highway speeds, the vehicle was shaking and vibrating abnormally. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who realigned the front suspension, but the failure continued to occur. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 2,731.

My instrument cluster has gone black twice. Meaning I have no speedometer, gas gauge, etc. My blind spot monitoring, front parking, and other safety features do not work when this happens. It stays this way for several hours and then displays again, usually overnight. Mercedes has denied the issue, despite me providing a video of the malfunction while driving. They have had my car for 25 days and provided no resolution, claiming there is no issue. MBUSA has not responded to my inquiry/complaint.
