74 of the
617 complaints about the 2014 Nissan Rogue are about the
airbag system — 12% of everything
reported for this model year.
Half of the failures with a mileage on record happened before
30,000 miles.
While driving, I swerved slightly to avoid a dog and went into a shallow ditch less than one foot deep. There was no collision, no structural damage, and no repairs needed to the vehicle. Despite the extremely minor impact, both airbags deployed unexpectedly. This deployment was violent and occurred without a qualifying crash. I believe this indicates a faulty airbag sensor, airbag control module malfunction, or other defect in the airbag system.

My husband and I were in a head on and sustained injuries to my neck, chest abdomen, and knees. Neither the driver nor the passenger airbags went off during the accident. No lights were present no warning, lights or messages prior to the accident and we were both wearing our seatbelts. I received significant whiplash, bruising, and injuries confirmed by x-rays and feel that the airbags not going off in this collision only made it worse.

The airbag light has been illuminated. Checked the wiring under the seats & is not loose. This issue has been recalled for other VINs but Nissan is neglecting to expand to all cars with the problem! This is a huge safety risk & needs to be recalled!

Passenger Occupant Sensor is Malfunctioning. Very similar condition to Recall 16V244000. Nissan is stating that the VIN number is not impacted by the recall but I believe it is the same issue and that they did not expand the recall to cover all the affected vehicles. Dealer reports that to fix the issue, the lower seat cushion must be replaced as the occupant sensor is located in the seat cushion. Nissan nor the dealer have been helpful in trying to resolve this serious safety issue. Cost to replace seat cushion is over $2,000. Failure codes on diagnostic scan are B1020, B1021, and B1022. My request to NHTSA is to expand the recall campaign to wider VIN number range to encompass cars that may be affected.

- Passenger occupancy sensor needs replacement. - The whole airbag system is deactivated, putting my children at risk. - An independent service center diagnossed the problem. - The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, requested an inspection, but they will not do a complimentary one, they are charging $250 to diagnose the vehicle. - The passenger airbag signal has been blinking red for the last 3 weeks. My wife and I, bought this vehicle new from a nissan dealership, we have been driving it for almost 8 years, the vehicle has never been involved in any accident. The issue is: Passenger airbag sign blinking red (for 3 weeks now), I called the 2 dealerships, and Nissan consumer affairs line, since our vehicle vin number, doesn’t have any recalls pending, I was informed that, the inspection and repairs, will come out of my pocket, because of the high nissan dealership fees, I took the vehicle to an independent service center and they diagnossed “Passenger occupancy sensor, needs replacement, and it is sold as the entire seat cushion” I looked online and saw that more than 187 people have had the same problem, and have had no help from Nissan. I am extremely concerned about my family safety, this is the vehicle I transport my children in, Nissan said “Once an airbag light is blinking, the whole system is disconnected, to prevent accidental deployment”. In other words… I have been driving my kids for the last 3 weeks, in a tin can with no airbags, and Nissan doesn’t seem to care enough, to schedule a complimentary inspection for my vehicle, or to add this issue to their recalls. I am repairing the airbag because it is a safety issue, but Nissan needs to care enough about their customers to make this right.

I'm reaching out in hopes of getting an answer on when the remedy for the recall number R21B9 for 2014 Nissan rogue. My car has been at the Nissan dealership for many days with every issue this recall represents. Water wicking up in the harness and connectors, it's eroded multiple electrical parts. Power steering, airbag connectors have been negatively affected etc. I'm being quoted an outrageous amount. Since I'm in need of a car, I told them to start with the repairs, although I don't have any confirmation of what Nissan will do to compensate me or when... I can provide you with the documents and proof that my car is dangerous and malfunctioning due to this recall, directly from the Nissan dealer. Please respond with how to proceed.

air bag horn cruise control-no major accident...got air condition fixed and shortly after my horn stopped working but it works if my panic button is pushed. Horn Doesn't work when I lock the car. The cruise control and bluetooth stopped working and airbag light is on one after the other. I was told it was a clockspring and it's 1000 dollars to replace and is a 2.00 part . Vehicle isn't worth anything with an airbag light on. Then the bushings are shot and control arm cost 2500 to replace. I thought nissans were good cars use to have a 1989 nissan truck and had four maxima's, ran forever. The dealer offered me 4000 for it(not knowing the airbag light is on and bushings are bad) but blue book value is like 6-8000 and if you try to buy one it's 15000 for used one. Only has 130000 miles on it should last longer especially the control arm. Not to mention i would need an alignment after bushings are done getting close to 4000 in repairs. Why isn't my model included in the airbag repair? Why does nissan put cheap bushings on their cars? Why don't they sell just the bushings ? Rip off should last another 100000 at least. Never buying another Nissan... Sad part is the car runs great except suspension, not worth repairing for 4000.

After the Air bag sensor recall software update, the occupancy sensor worked fine for a couple of years and now is again not working. When a passenger sits on the front passenger seat, the sensor doesn't detect a person and the occupancy sensor light never goes off. Several times I had to stop and put the car on park and then put more pressure on the seat to get the sensor to detect there is a person. Now the manufacturer dealer wants to charge me to diagnose the problem and states there could be more expenses involved with replacing the parts. As a customer I feel this is a persistent problem since the car was purchased and has never been fixed.

There have been 2 recalls that have applied to my 2014 Nissan Rogue however my VIN has not been listed under either recall resulting in me paying out of pocket for repairs. The first recall that my VIN number was excluded from was the Clock Spring . The second recall is the OCS (Occupant Classified System). Both have issues pertaining to airbag safety.

THE AIRBAG SENSOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED BY A NISSAN DEALERSHIP AS INOPERABLE AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR HAS ONLY 58K MILES ON IT. CLEARLY THE FENCE FROM THE FIRST RECALL WHICH EFFECTED THOUSANDS OF OTHER 2014-2017 NISSAN ROGUES NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED. A PASSENGER SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER POSITION OF THE CAR IS NOT GOING TO BE PROTECTED BY FRONTAL AIRBAGS.
