Recalls on the 2013 Porsche Panamera

A complaint is one owner's allegation. A recall is the point at which the manufacturer or a regulator agreed the defect is real and dangerous enough to fix for free — however old the car is.

Canada — Transport Canada

Canada runs its own recall programme, and its campaigns do not always mirror the American ones.

Recall 2026301 15,515 units in Canada

Other

Issue: On certain vehicles, the immobilizer system may not meet certain requirements of Canadian regulations. Safety Risk: This small error does not affect safety. Corrective Actions: This is not a recall. Porsche has made changes to ensure that all new vehicles meet Canadian regulations.

Recall 2022487 58,856 units in Canada

Lights And Instruments

Issue: On certain vehicles, covers were not installed over the horizontal headlamp adjusters. As a result, the headlamps may be adjusted horizontally. Canadian regulations do not allow for horizontal headlamp adjustment unless the vehicle is equipped with a built-in aiming device. Safety Risk: Headlamps that are not properly adjusted could cause reduced visibility or glare for oncoming drivers, and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Porsche will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to install caps over the headlamp adjustment screws.

Recall 2019290 8,742 units in Canada

Powertrain

Issue: On certain vehicles, the transmission shifter could detach from the transmission. This could cause the transmission not to shift gears when the shifter is moved. As a result, the transmission could be in a different gear than the gear shifter indicates. If a driver attempts to exit the vehicle while the transmission is not in Park, and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle could move suddenly. Safety Risk: Sudden and unexpected movement of the vehicle could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Porsche will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to replace the shifter cable bushing. Owners are reminded to use the parking brake anytime the vehicle is parked.

Recall 2019200 2,236 units in Canada

Electrical

Issue: On certain cars, water could leak into the air conditioning blower control unit. Over time, this could cause a short circuit that could cause it to melt or burn. This could happen while driving or after the vehicle is parked and shut off. Safety Risk: A short circuit in the blower control unit could create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Porsche will notify owners by mail and advise them what to do. When a remedy is available, owners will be requested to bring their car to a dealership for repair. Owners are advised to park their car outdoors until the recall repairs have been completed.

Recalls cover specific build ranges, so check your own vehicle by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls or, in Canada, Transport Canada.

Horn does not function. There have been multiple times where I was nearly run off the road or had to quickly change lanes because another driver was not paying attention and I could not tell them I was there without my horn. The problem has been confirmed by the Porsche dealer I purchased the vehicle from and stated it would be more than $800 to replace the horn. They stated there is no way of fixing it and it would have to be replaced. My husband’s 2015 Porsche Cayenne is also having the same issue and I will be filing a separate report. The component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance, or others. There were no warning lights or messages. I did notice the sound of the horn slowly getting weaker over a period of maybe 2 months until it eventually stopped making sound altogether. This all began approximately 1 year ago.

AIR BAGS

I purchased the above-referenced car in July 2020 almost immediately after purchase the indicator light came on with Chasis failure and the car lowered to a safe distance to the ground. Unbeknownst to me the car had been declared unsafe to drive previously. The airbags had been deployed and placed backward the front sensors were painted over and not operable. I had to take legal action against four years later the dealer who ended up reselling the car in 2021 for more money. No reporting of these documented problems.

Porsche dashboard leather shrunk and staples pulled out. I was told that if the vehicle was in an accident the airbag might not deploy correctly. The Porsche dealer looked at it and recommended replacing it. This is a very common issue

MY 2013 PORSCHE PANAMERA HAS A SAFETY RECALL (PLEASE SEE ATTACHED). I HAVE CONTACTED PORSCHE CARS NORTH AMERICA (NUMEROUS TIMES) AND ITS DEALERSHIPS (PORSCHE OF SILVER SPRING AND OTHERS). BUT ALL HAVE REFUSED MY RECALL WORK BECAUSE I AM ON A BLACK LIST VIA PORSCHE CARS NORTH AMERICA. THEY HAVE DECLINED TO WORK ON MY CAR BECAUSE OF PAST ISSUES WITH ME PERSONALLY. EACH DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN INSTRUCTED NOT TO SERVICE MY VEHICLE. WHEN I CALL THE MANUFACTURER THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS SAY THAT THERE IS A NOTE ON MY ACCOUNT THAT SAYS I AM NOT TO BE ASSISTED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. I'M NOT SURE WHAT TO DO FROM HERE, OR WHO TO CALL. THIS IS MY SECOND TIME REACHING OUT TO THE NHTSA(PHONE AND EMAIL). THE FIRST TIME I FILLED A REPORT BY PHONE(4-5MONTHS AGO). I NEVER HEARD BACK FROM ANYONE. MY VIN # IS [XXX]. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
