We purchased a used 2025 Toyota Sienna a few weeks ago. The other day, my husband put his phone and wallet into the center console compartment and closed the lid. When we went to retrieve those items, the lid only opened partially. We were finally able to remove the wallet but the phone had slid down into the compartment where the door to that console opening slides into when you open and close it. The lid would not open all of the way and blocked our access to that space when you opened it. The only way to remove the phone was to take it to our local dealership where they spent hours removing seats and pieces of the console to remove the phone from the inaccessible area and then put everything back together. This cost us roughly four hours of work time and $311.99 out of our own pocket. Apparently this is a known issue with this vehicle and is a design flaw where items of the right size (including iPhones) can slide into that compartment while the lid is closed and then are inaccessible.

The recall on the 2nd row seat welding makes this row unusable per Toyota’s recommendation until they get a remedy. There is no estimated date on when the remedy will be available and Toyota is offering no solution to this. I have 2 small kids, one [XXX] and one [XXX] . I brought home my newborn in this car before the recall notice was sent out. It is our hybrid family vehicle and we cannot use it due to this recall and there is no remedy available for who knows how long. They have no offered me a loaner at the dealership near me plus they likely do not have a Sienna as a loaner because according to them Sienna’s are well sought out. The affected component appears to be the rear seat / seat track recall system. I took my Toyota vehicle to the dealership / repair center in approximately October 2025 for recall-related repair, and the vehicle was then kept there for months. During that time, I was deprived of the use of the vehicle while continuing to make lease payments. I repeatedly contacted the repair center for updates but was not provided a clear repair completion date. Toyota and the dealership later claimed that the recall had been repaired only after the stated 60-day buyback review period had expired, yet NHTSA’s VIN lookup still showed the same recall as unrepaired for my vehicle. No credible current documentation was provided showing the exact recall repair completion date or the work performed. Under these circumstances, I am not comfortable accepting return of the vehicle. My children ride in the rear seat, and because this recall involves the seat / seat track area, I cannot reasonably be expected to trust the vehicle without clear proof that the recall repair was properly completed. I have also experienced a serious accident in the past, which makes this issue even more concerning to me. At this point, I have lost confidence in Toyota’s handling of this matter. I am seeking repurchase of the vehicle and fair final resolution.

I bought a new 2025 Toyota Sienna Hybrid in Feb 2025 and shortly after, I was informed by letter by Toyota that there was a recall. We were informed NOT to use the second row. (Exactly why we bought a van!) I am STILL waiting for a remedy. Toyota has not offered a rental or any kind of assistance with us being out of a new van for OVER 1 YEAR. I am beyond discouraged and disgusted. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I am reporting an unreasonable delay in the remedy for NHTSA Recall 25V-668 (Toyota Recall 25TA12). My 2025 Toyota Sienna has been subject to Interim Notice 25TB12 for approximately 170 days. Per Toyota’s official safety instructions, I have been directed to ensure that 'no one sit in or use a child restraint in any second-row seat while the vehicle is in motion.' Despite this recall being active since October 2025, Toyota has failed to provide the necessary replacement seat rails or a firm repair date. This defect involves structural weld failures that pose a high risk of seat detachment in a collision. By rendering the primary passenger area of this minivan unusable for nearly 6 months, the manufacturer has caused a substantial loss of utility and safety. I am requesting NHTSA investigate the lack of remedy availability and Toyota’s failure to support owners who cannot safely use the vehicle for its intended multi-passenger purpose.

Toyota has instructed owners not to use the second-row seats until a repair becomes available. As a result, the vehicle cannot be safely used for its intended purpose. I am a parent of three children, including an infant who requires a rear-facing car seat. Without the ability to use the second-row seats, the vehicle is unusable for my family. The vehicle has been in the possession of the dealership (AutoNation Toyota Weston, Florida) since December 22, 2025. As of today, the vehicle has been out of service for over 80 days, and Toyota has confirmed that there is still no repair remedy available and no timeline for resolution. I have been provided with a temporary Toyota RAV4, which is not comparable to a three-row family vehicle and does not accommodate my family’s needs. I continue to make monthly payments of approximately $900 through Toyota Financial Services for a vehicle that I am unable to use. This situation represents a significant safety concern and a substantial loss of use of the vehicle, with no resolution provided by the manufacturer.

I own a 2025 Toyota Sienna affected by Safety Recall 25V668 involving second-row seat rails with suspected improper welds. Toyota sent a notice advising that no one should sit in or use a child restraint in the second-row seats until the repair remedy becomes available. However, there is currently no remedy available and no repair timeline. I have contacted both the dealership and Toyota multiple times over the past four months but have not received clear answers or a resolution. The dealership verbally told me I can continue transporting my children, which conflicts with the written safety notice from Toyota. I am a mother of six children and this vehicle is essential for transporting my family. Because the recall involves seating safety and there is no repair available, the vehicle cannot be safely used as intended. I am submitting this complaint due to lack of repair availability and lack of clear communication from the manufacturer.

My 2025 Toyota Sienna XLE (VIN: [XXX]) is subject to Safety Recall 25V668 related to defective second-row seat rail welds. The recall states that the seat structure may fail during certain high-speed collisions, increasing the risk of injury to passengers. As a result of this safety recall, my vehicle was suspended from passenger rental service on October 6, 2025 and has remained unusable for its intended purpose since that date. Toyota has confirmed that the recall status is “Remedy Not Available,” meaning no repair solution currently exists for this safety defect. The vehicle therefore cannot be safely used for passenger transport and continues to cause significant financial loss while loan payments remain due. I am filing this complaint because the vehicle has been unusable for an extended period of time due to a safety defect with no available remedy. We purchased a 2025 Toyota Sienna Woodland Edition in July 2025. On October 7, 2025 we were notified that vehicle is subject to a safety recall [NHSTA Recall No. 25V-668, Toyota Recall No. 25TA12 (Interim Notice 25TB12)] due to improperly welded seat rails. The recall states: "The subject vehicles contain second-row seats that are mounted on seat rails that may have been improperly welded. If these seats are occupied during certain high-speed collisions, the seat may lose structural integrity, increasing the risk of injury. All known owners of the subject vehicles will be notified to return their vehicles to a Toyota dealer. For all involved vehicles, the dealer will replace the second-row seat rails with rails that have proper welding, free of charge. For all involved vehicles, Toyota will notify customers by early December 2025." Following the recall notice, we returned our Toyota Sienna to the dealer due to the safety risk of putting our children (or any passenger) in the second row seats and we are currently driving a rental car. Toyota has not yet indicated a solution for this recall and has not provided a remedy as originally stated by December 2026. Given that it is now February 20, 2026 and our vehicle has been out of service for it's intended purpose for over 120 days without a remedy, we would like to officially log a complaint with the NHSTA.

We were notified by Toyota that it was unsafe to transport our children in the second row seats in October 2025 and the vehicle was under a recall. This puts our children at risk. A letter from NHTSA stated Toyota would have a remedy by 12/6. The manufacturer (Toyota) confirmed this recall. Given that Toyota has not indicated a solution date for this till this day 2/20/2026 and the problem was discovered in October 2025 I believe the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for our vehicle in a timely manner and would like to officially log a complaint with NHTSA.

I am filing a safety complaint regarding a dealership-provided loaner vehicle that had an open safety recall at the time it was issued to me. On Tuesday 1/20, I received a loaner vehicle from Beaver Toyota in Saint Augustine, Florida while my personal vehicle is being held due to a recall. The loaner was a 2025 Toyota Sienna. I was not informed of any safety recalls at the time the vehicle was provided. Late that evening, I discovered that the loaner vehicle had an active, unresolved safety recall listed as open through NHTSA. The recall was active while the vehicle was in my possession. After discovering the recall, I attempted to contact dealership management multiple times regarding this urgent safety issue. On 1/21, I contacted the General Manager through the dealership’s website. I also called the dealership on Wednesday at 1:37 PM and left a voicemail for the General Manager. I did not receive a response. On 1/22 at 12:24 PM, I called again and left another voicemail. I then followed up with an email requesting a return call due to the safety concern. As of this evening 1/22, I have received no response. Providing a loaner vehicle with an open safety recall, without disclosure, placed me and other occupants at unnecessary risk. I am requesting that NHTSA review this matter for recall compliance and appropriate corrective action.

I am submitting this complaint regarding an unresolved safety recall on my leased Toyota vehicle and the manufacturer’s failure to provide a timely or reasonable remedy, resulting in ongoing child passenger safety risks. Toyota’s recall instructs that no one sit in or use a child restraint in the second-row seats while the vehicle is moving until the remedy is performed. This effectively prohibits use of the safest and recommended seating position for children. The vehicle is used daily for highway driving to transport my family, including three children aged [XXX] , [XXX] , and [XXX] old. Because of Toyota’s seating restriction, my [XXX] toddler must now sit in the third row. This prevents the driver from easily monitoring or comforting the child and has caused driver distraction during highway travel when the child becomes distressed, creating a foreseeable safety risk. Toyota states it is “preparing the remedy” but has provided no repair timeline. After multiple contacts and escalation, I was told it could take up to 60 days with no interim solution. Toyota suggested contacting dealerships for a loaner but advised that an equivalent vehicle was unlikely, availability was uncertain, costs might need to be paid upfront with later reimbursement, and the duration would be open-ended. This is not a reasonable interim safety solution while continuing to pay full lease obligations. I was also informed that returning the vehicle would require paying approximately $15,000 in negative equity, which I believe is unreasonable given that the safety defect and usage restrictions are due to a manufacturer recall. Toyota has not provided a repair timeline, a reasonable interim transportation solution, or a penalty-free way to exit the lease. I request that NHTSA review whether Toyota is meeting its obligations under federal safety recall requirements. I am writing regarding my 2025 Toyota Sienna, purchased in June 2025, which is currently subject to Safety Recall Interim Notice 25TB12 concerning unsafe second-row seat welds that could result in serious injury or death. I appreciate the professionalism and concern shown by Sparks Toyota in acknowledging the seriousness of this recall and providing a loaner vehicle while my Sienna is deemed unsafe to drive. However, the current loaner—a Toyota Highlander—does not meet my family’s needs and is not a reasonable substitute for the vehicle I purchased. We intentionally purchased a minivan due to our family size and lifestyle requirements. My daughter is a competitive gymnast, and we frequently travel with athletic equipment and multiple passengers. The Highlander is significantly smaller than a Sienna and cannot safely or practically accommodate our needs. Additionally, I am concerned that there is currently no repair solution or estimated completion timeline for this safety issue, leaving us indefinitely without access to a comparable vehicle. At this point, I am respectfully requesting the following: 1.Placement in a replacement vehicle comparable in size and function to a minivan (such as a Toyota Sienna or similarly sized vehicle). • If Sparks Toyota does not have an appropriate vehicle available, I request authorization for a comparable vehicle through an outside rental agency at Toyota’s expense. 2.Compensation for the ongoing inconvenience caused by the safety defect, lack of a repair timeline, and the inability to use the vehicle I purchased. 3.A clear estimate or update regarding when my vehicle is expected to be repaired and returned in a condition that is safe for my family. This recall involves a serious safety risk, and I believe it is reasonable to expect transportation that meets the same capacity and purpose as the vehicle I purchased—especially while awaiting a manufacturer-level remedy.

See recall above. We just spent $55,000 on this vehicle in order to safely transport and travel with our two year old and newborn. The fact that Toyota does not have a remedy available for this major issue is completely unacceptable. The recall notice states that our only current "remedy" is to not use the second row seats, which is not feasible since child safety seats only safely install in the second row. This so called "remedy" is absolutely unreasonable, illogical and irrational. It essentially renders our $55,000 vehicle unusable, which constitutes a significant financial loss for my family. I am making a loss of use claim - Toyota's response that it does not have a remedy available now for such a significant safety problem is outrageous.

I bought this vehicle brand new. I quickly realized that both rollers on the sliding doors were causing excessive noise, which I found out that many other owners have complained as well, when closing & opening. This is because of a poor assembly from Toyota as the rollers are not machined prefect painted & are either oversprayed or less sprayed causing gaps on the rollers. These gaps or uneven paints causes excessive noise when rollers are moved on their track. There are several new Sienna owners who are waiting to have this issue fixed as the parts are backordered. I had to make total of 4 trips to my local dealership to have the issue fixed. I can still hear a little bit of over excessive noise from one of the sliding doors. Toyota should immediately recall all the affected vehicle and have this issue fixed.

The sliding doors will shut off after 60+ minutes of being left open. In order to close them afterwards, you must fight with the power closing mechanism which makes it incredibly slow to close. This is dangerous if someone is threatening you and you need to get in your car and close the door. Or if a swarm of bees is coming at you. It takes about 30 seconds to close the door when this happens. Toyota claims this is to save power but this makes no sense as an excuse as the rear. Liftgate can stay open indefinitely without problem.
