I live 5 hours from the closest Volvo dealership so I called to see if they could send me the the air bag that has been recalled. The airbag is very easy to be replaced in less then 10 minutes. Because of this it is absolutely absurd for me to travel for ten hours to get something done that I can do myself in 10 minutes. They said I can buy the airbag and they could send it. But this being a recall is'nt it their responsibility to fix it in any way possible. I just feel like this is wrong that they are doing this and am addressing it in this compliant.

I have been requesting the recall service of my vehicle since November 2020. I was first told by the dealership they were delayed in getting the replacement airbag but should in January. Called in January and they still didn’t have them and after asking I was put on a list and told they would contact me. I checked back in August 2021 and was told I was still on the list. I have not been contacted by the dealership since that time and my recall is still not repaired. The nearest dealership is in the next state 2.5 hours away. I just want this completed as I’ve been potentially driving a dangerous (to me) vehicle for over 2 years now.

The recall notice was issued on December 14, 2021. No area Volvo dealer has the parts to repair or replace the air bag. I have been told I am on a "waiting list" A reasonable amount of time has elapsed to repair my vehicle. Volvo Car, USA. Volvo Car, USA by email advised me to contact another local dealer in my area on March 12, 2022: "Thank you for your patience while your case was open. I apologize for any inconvenience. if your servicing dealer does not have the parts to complete the repairs for your vehicle. You have the option of making an appointment with the other dealers in your area. Our search has shown that Herzog-Meier Volvo Cars is a feasible option for you. Please find their information listed below." Herzog-Meier Volvo Cars advised me to call my own dealer, Jim Fisher Volvo since they did not have the parts to repair or replace my air bag. I contacted JIm Fisher Volvo again and they did not have the parts and I remain on their waiting list.

This is subject to a recall R10136 NHTSA Recall 21v-800 We have set appointments twice to have this done only to be told that the parts are not available and we would be contacted when they are. The local dealer is Maple Hill in Kalamazoo. I started a chat with Volvo and the suggestion was to try another dealer. If the part is not available I fail to see how that will help.

Volvo do not want to replace the recall airbag with the same original logo on the airbag. This logo is the “R” on the airbag. The airbag without the “R” is for a regular Volvo.

2001 Volvo V70 Spokane, WA

AIR BAGS

Received an airbag recall. There is no local dealer but there are authorized non-dealer service shops that do replace airbags. Under the recall a Volvo dealer must do the replacement. The nearest Volvo dealer is 300 miles away. Volvo will only reimburse for 25 miles of towing. The recall states "If you are unable to have this procedure performed without charge....". Towing cost would be approximately $800.00. How do I, and several others in my area, resolve this issue?

2001 Volvo V70 Arcata, CA

AIR BAGS

I was notified of the recall. Because I live 300 miles away from the nearest volvo dealership, there is no option for me to replace the airbag free of charge. Additionally, there is no plan in place to provide me with a safe vehicle until such a time that my volvo can be repaired. Until I undertake a great risk by traveling 300 miles at great inconvenience and expense, to have this problem resolved, I am expected to take a daily risk by driving this unsafe vehicle.

I have recevievide from Volvo called the number and said they cannot say it was free.I called the number 1 800 458 1552 said could promise I had to talk to the manager at the dealer. I asked them if found other problems with steering that I would have to pay if they tear into steering comlun. You guys need to fix this now. I want to make sure Im cover here . EWhat am suppose to do if they break my steering down and ask me to pay for other problmems with the car it doesnot state that on the recall letter. What kind of airbag do they put in to the car I ant to its preminum airbags that are put in high in vehicles here. I want to know if I get protected documentation from this recall. Also do I get the old airbag back so i can seek legal consel as well. It just says free it should state that im protected from labor and parts costs as well.

2004 Volvo V70 at 133,000 miles Deep GAP, NC Crash 1 injured

AIR BAGS

WHEN WE FIRST PURCHASED THE CAR WE DROVE IT FOR ABOUT A WEEK BEFORE IT STARTED SURGING FORWARD AND STALLING A LOT. MY FIANC AND I WOULD HAVE TO PULL OVER, PARK THE CAR, HAVE TO TURN THE KEY THREE TIMES BEFORE STARTING. WOULD HAVE TO REPEAT PROCESS EVERY 5 MINUTES. SO WE TOOK IT TO PARAMOUNT VOLVO OF HICKORY, ENDED UP TAKING IT THERE FOR SERVICE. DROPPED IT OFF WITH A MAX FULL TANK OF GAS AS WELL, ALONG WITH PERSONAL ITEMS WE LEFT IN THE CAR. IT TAKES THEN ABOUT 4 OR 5 DAYS BEFORE CALLING US BACK WITH DIAGNOSTICS, SO WE END UP PAYING ALMOST 1,600$ TO GET THE TIMING CHAIN REPLACED, NEW HOSES PUT ON, FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT, AND THE FUEL INJECTORS. WE PICK IT UP, AND OUR GAS IS ALMOST ON EMPTY....AND A FEW ITEMS WERE MISSING OUT OF OUR VEHICLE AS WELL. I KNOW THEY HAVE TO TEST DRIVE IT AFTER SERVICING THE VEHICLE, IT SEEMED LIKE THEY TOOK IT ON A JOY RIDE ALL OVER HICKORY. BUT WE DECIDED NOT TO MENTION THAT, AND TOOK IT AS A COMPLIMENT OF THEM "LIKING" THE CAR. AT LEAST WE HAD IT FIXED WE THOUGHT, THEN DROVE 45 MINUTES UP THE MOUNTAIN HOME. DROVE FOR ABOUT A DAY OR TWO UNTIL "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME BACK ON, SO WE CALLED VOLVO BACK. THAT TIME WE ENDED UP GETTING THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED ON A "RECALLED PART". AGAIN IT DRIVE FINE AFTER PICKING IT BACK UP 2ND TIME THEN STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN, BROUGHT IT BACK AND THEY FIXED THE TIMING ON IT. PICKED IT UP, WEEK OR TWO LATER WE SET UP A NEW APPOINTMENT BECAUSE THE CAR IS SURGING, RPMS WON'T GO OVER 2000, KICKS OUT AND IN GEAR, RPM GAUGE FLUCTUATES WHEN STOPPED. MY 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND I WERE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY YESTERDAY AND IT STARTED SURGING, THE STEERING SEEMED ALOT LOOSER, THEN IT STARTED SHAKING AROUND A CURVE PRETTY BAD, GOT SCARED AND BRAKED, STEERING WOULDN'T TURN , KEPT GOING STRAIGHT, RAN INTO THE GRASS ,THANK GOD. WE COULD HAVE DIED. ALSO ATTACHING A PHOTO OF THE REST OF MY COMPLAINT SINCE IT WOULDN'T FIT.

2009 Volvo V70 at 70,000 miles Woodbridge, VA

AIR BAGS

SRS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AT APPROXIMATELY 70,000 MILES, 4.5 YEARS AFTER PURCHASING VOLVO DIRECTLY FROM THE FACTORY IN SWEDEN. THE LIGHT REMAINED ON FOR A FEW DAYS, THEN TURNED OFF. THIS OCCURRED REGULARLY FOR 4 MONTHS UNTIL THE LIGHT REMAINED ON INDEFINITELY. WHEN I FINALLY TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICING, THE ERROR CODE INDICATED A FAULTY OCCUPANT WEIGHT SENSOR (OWS) EMBEDDED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG WILL NO LONGER DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE SENSOR WILL NO LONGER IDENTIFY A PASSENGER IN THE CAR. IT IS UNCLEAR WHETHER THIS ALSO DISABLES THE DRIVER (PRIMARY) AIR BAG, AS WELL AS THE SIDE AIR BAGS. I CONTACTED VOLVO USA SHORTLY AFTER THE 5 YEAR MANUFACTURER WARRANTY EXPIRED AND THEY EMPHATICALLY CLAIMED THAT THIS EGREGIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WAS NO LONGER THEIR CONCERN. RESPECTFULLY, PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO THIS FAULTY OWS THE CAR IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO OPERATE AND THAT VOLVO SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING THIS ERROR.
