When owners complained

A spike years after the car went on sale usually means a part wearing out on schedule across the whole fleet — the kind of pattern no single owner can see from inside their own car.

Recalls on the 2022 Winnebago View

A complaint is one owner's allegation. A recall is the point at which the manufacturer or a regulator agreed the defect is real and dangerous enough to fix for free — however old the car is.

Canada — Transport Canada

Canada runs its own recall programme, and its campaigns do not always mirror the American ones.

Recall 2026067 127 units in Canada

Structure

Issue: On certain motorhomes, the trim on the rear roof cap may not be properly attached. As a result, the trim could loosen and separate from the motorhome. Safety Risk: Trim that detaches from the motorhome could create a hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Winnebago will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your motorhome to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, secure the trim on the rear roof cap.

Recall 2024664 161 units in Canada

Structure

Issue: On certain motorhomes, the entry door window glass may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the glass could loosen and detach from the window frame. Safety Risk: A glass panel that detaches from the vehicle could create a hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Winnebago recommends that you inspect the entry door window glass before each trip. Winnebago will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.

Recall 2024300 1,060 units in Canada

Airbag

Issue: On certain motorhomes, the wiring harness for the front seats may have been routed incorrectly. As a result, the wiring could become damaged and cause the airbags not to work properly in a crash. Note: This problem would cause an airbag system warning message to display on the instrument panel. Safety Risk: An airbag that doesn't work properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: Winnebago will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your motorhome to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, re-route the seat wiring harness. If damage is found, the wiring harness will be repaired or replaced, as necessary.

Recall 2024008 211 units in Canada

Accessories

Issue: On certain motorhomes, the retractable awning could extend on its own while driving. Note: This recall replaces recall 169 (Transport Canada recall number 2022-549). Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this second repair. Safety Risk: An awning that extends while driving could create a road hazard and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Winnebago will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development. Winnebago recommends that you should inspect the awning to ensure it's in the fully retracted position before driving. You should also check it periodically throughout your trip.

Recall 2023596 261 units in Canada

Label

Issue: On certain motorhomes, the wrong trailer hitch label was installed. This could lead you to overload the motorhome, which could cause poor handling or a tire failure. Safety Risk: Poor handling or a tire failure could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Winnebago will mail a new trailer hitch label to each owner. If you would like help to install it, you can contact a Winnebago dealer to have it installed free of charge.

Recall 2022598 122 units in Canada

Accessories

Issue: On certain motorhomes, the propane (LP) line may not be attached properly near the left rear wheel well. As a result, the line could move and be damaged by contact with the tire. This could create a propane leak. Safety Risk: A propane leak can create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Winnebago will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorhome to a dealership to add additional supports to attach the propane line. The dealer will also inspect the propane line for damage and replace it, if necessary.

Recall 2022549 63 units in Canada

Accessories

This recall was replaced by Transport Canada Recall No. 2024-008. Issue: On certain motorhomes, the retractable awning could extend on its own while driving.

My RV is going into limp mode after driving several (about 4) hours. No CEL and no other symptoms other than paddle shifters not working while driving on interstate This has happened several times. I brought it twice to. Mercedes in Macon Ga who could not see any codes nor replicate and obviously will not just start replacing components. I researched on internet and many folks are experiencing same issue. Some said if I pull over, shut down for about 20 minutes, and restart it will correct. I did that and it works. Mercedes in Macon were very nice and I understand their position. However, I cannot nor do not want this to happen while going up a grade!! It is a safety hazard and needs to be fixed. Where do I go from here? Tried to email Mercedes but would not go through saying "Your message couldn't be delivered to [XXX] because the remote server is misconfigured. See technical details below for more information." I have two videos which I showed to Mercedes but again, no CEL nor code so they did not know where to go with this. Trim panel affixed to roof blew off during travel. The panel was not attached to the roof very well - the glue used to attach it in the manufacturing process failed. The part is Winnebago part number 329370-01-CHT. Part description: PANEL-TRIM, FRT CAP, LH. The failed part could easily have caused severe injury to another driver. The problem is a known issue that has been reported by hundreds of View owners. The part has not been inspected by anyone of the entities listed in the bullet point of your General Guidelines. There was no warning preceding the failure.

Equalizer front stabilizer jacks become loose after repeated usage. If not corrected, they will eventually bend enough that they break creating an unsafe condition if the RV falls while elevated. Repairs were performed on my rig where an upgraded bracket was installed. The Equilizer 3724R and 3729R brackets replace the inferior 335586 and 335589 brackets. From what I can tell, Winnebago installed these Equalizer jacks as an option on several Mercedes Chassis’s over a number of years.

While driving down the highway we noticed a noise. The noise got louder. I was a passenger and looked in the mirror and I could see that our awning manufactured by Carefree had deployed. We hurriedly pulled over to the shoulder. It was not a very wide shoulder and it was very dangerous. We were obviously very anxious about this. We could not get the awning to pull back in. We limped to the next exit where it would be safer to work on it. We were then able to get the awning to retract but it was ripped. We drove carefully to the next rest stop and applied four zip ties to the awning and pulled the DC fuse. We did not want this to happen again. For our safety and for the safety of others. This is a brand new vehicle and our first road trip. There was no warning other than the sound. There have been no problems prior to this incident. The awning had been used one time at a campground with no problem. It is our understanding that this awning is not supposed to deploy when the engine is running no matter what. Obviously that system failed. We immediately reported to the dealer. According to them they had never known anyone that this is happened to you before, yet following the incident I have found multiple reports of this happening. This is extremely dangerous.

First time I used the Carefree automatic Awning, it would not fully retract. With Winnebago customer service on my phone I did everything they suggested and it still would not fully retract. While awaiting road side service to arrive at my camp site it suddenly retracted all by itself as I sat outdoors waiting. I was alone with nobody inside the RV. After it operated without anyone at the controls I was concerned it might open while driving so I removed the fuse and have not used it again.
