On October 23, 2025, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Preliminary Evaluation PE25015 after receiving complaints concerning a loss of brake assist in 2019-2020 MY Acura ILX vehicles. These complainants alleged master cylinder failures resulting in soft pedal feel or the brake pedal intermittently going to the floor. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2016-2020 Acura ILX vehicles. Contaminated brake fluid may cause a seal inside the brake master cylinder to deform, which can cause an internal brake fluid leak and reduce brake function.

Acura (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Acura ILX vehicles. Excessive grease may prevent the set-ring on the half shaft from fully engaging, allowing the driveshaft to separate from the half shaft.

Risk: A separated driveshaft can cause the vehicle to have a loss of drive or allow the vehicle to move even while in Park, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Acura (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Acura ILX vehicles. The vehicles may have a deformed fuel tank, raising the height of the fuel pump and allowing the fuel level float to stick, possibly causing the fuel gauge to display an inaccurate fuel level.

Risk: If the fuel gauge displays that the vehicle has more gas than it actually does, the vehicle may run out of gas and stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

The contact owned a 2019 Acura ILX. The contact stated that while reversing, the backward collision avoidance system activated without any objects or persons behind the vehicle, and the vehicle abruptly stopped. The backup sensor did not sound, and the vehicle then shifted into drive, and the vehicle independently accelerated. No warning lights were illuminated. The air bags were deployed. No injuries were sustained. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard, where it was determined that the vehicle was totaled. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

This his happened 3 times now. I have been driving on the highway with no cars in front of me in my lane within a quarter mile, and the braking since starts flashing a warning and starts to hard break, it is not only startling but very dangerous. This happened the 3rd time in a year. I usually try to disable it to prevent these issues but it auto turns itself back on every time i start the car so i sometimes forget to turn it off. It is not only startling but has caused sligh injury to myself because of the sudden breaking

WHEELS

I WAS DRIVING ROUGHLY AROUND 25 MPH, WHEN I'D STARTED GOING INTO A GRADUAL TURN TO THE RIGHT. I'D HIT A SMALL POT HOLE, THEN MY CAR ENDED UP ON THE GROUND. SKIDDING ACROSS THE ROAD, AND THEN ONTO THE SHOULDER. THE WAY IT WAS DRIVING I'D THOUGHT MY RIGHT FRONT TIRE HAD CAME OFF OF THE VEHICLE. BUT UPON FIRST GLANCE IT WAS JUST A FLAT TIRE. ONCE I HAD GOTTEN THE FLAT TIRE OFF, I'D REALIZED THERE WAS A MUCH BIGGER ISSUE. THE RIGHT FRONT FACTORY RIM, HAD BROKEN. HORIZONTALLY DOWN THE CENTER OF THE RIM. BUT THE FRONT SECTION OF THE RIM WAS STILL LOCKED IN THE TIRE'S BEAD. THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE HAS ZERO HOLES/TEARS/ ANY DAMAGE THAT I'VE SEEN SO FAR. THIS WAS A CITY STREET, POSTED 30 MPH. THE ROAD IS IN FAIRLY GOOD CONDITION AND LIKE I'D STATED BEFORE, THIS WAS A MINOR POTHOLE THAT I'D HIT.

My driver airbag was stolen 7 months ago and my vehicle has been stuck at body shop ever since because the airbag is on national backorder with no ETA in sight. Acura has done NOTHING to help me and my life has been severely impacted by not having a car. No one is offering me any solutions, they have not provided me a loaner car or anything to help my situation.

I am writing to formally raise a concern regarding the handling of a safety recall repair performed on my 2019 Acura ILX at Maus Acura of North Tampa. I initially brought my vehicle in to address a safety recall related to the brake master cylinder. As explained in the recall notice, the issue involved contamination of the brake fluid that could affect braking performance. The dealership proceeded with replacing the brake master cylinder, as expected. However, the situation became significantly concerning following the completion of the recall service: After the recall repair was completed, my vehicle would not start and had no power. The dealership later informed me that a voltage spike during battery installation damaged the PCM, requiring replacement. The PCM was subsequently replaced, and the vehicle was returned to me. In addition to this, I experienced further issues after retrieving my vehicle: My second key was no longer functioning, which required an additional visit to the dealership for reprogramming. More importantly, I am now experiencing a new issue that did not exist prior to the recall service: when I am stopped (for example, at a traffic light) and holding the brake pedal, the vehicle vibrates noticeably. This ongoing vibration is particularly concerning because: It began only after the recall repair and related work were performed. It affects the normal operation and comfort of the vehicle. It raises questions about whether the repair process may have introduced additional mechanical or engine-related issues. At this point, I am very concerned about the overall quality of the service performed and the series of problems that occurred immediately after what should have been a straightforward recall repair.

My 2019 Acura ILX (VIN: [XXX] , 69,349 miles) is experiencing severe, dangerous brake system failure directly matching Acura Safety Recall RN5 / NHTSA Campaign 25V859 (Brake Master Cylinder). The vehicle does not stop properly. Due to the hydraulic malfunction of the defective factory master cylinder, the brake pads are overheating and melting quickly. The vehicle is unsafe to operate on public roads.I contacted multiple authorized local dealerships, including Grubbs Acura in Grapevine, TX and Park Place Acura, and both confirmed they cannot perform the safety repair because the manufacturer has not provided the necessary recall parts. I escalated this urgent safety issue to American Honda’s corporate support line (1-888-234-2138). A corporate supervisor called me back but failed to provide a resolution, an emergency parts allocation, or alternative safe transportation.The manufacturer is currently unable to supply critical safety remedy parts for an active, catastrophic brake failure, and they have refused to provide a temporary loaner or rental vehicle to mitigate the hazard. I am filing this urgent complaint because I am stranded with an undriveable vehicle due to a critical safety defect that the manufacturer cannot remedy. Brakes sometimes do not work. Brake pedal is pressed down to the floor with no resistance sometimes. The brakes need to be pumped multiple times in order to stop. This is a huge safety concern and more more serious than any other recall that we’ve had on our vehicles.

SERVICE BRAKES

Reporting intermittent brake failure, where brake sank to the floor on the first press without any effect of slowing the vehicle. Fortunately, in each instance, on the second press the brakes functioned normally and slowed the vehicle, so no accident or injury occurred. The first incident was in May 2022 after driving over a speed bump -- at the time I assumed user error and did not report the incident. The brakes failed a second time in March 2025 when descending a hill at 35 mph, and a third time in April 2025 after U-turning on a hill at low speeds. At that time, I opted to tow the car to the dealer for a repair. The dealer found no brake issues on inspection/testing, but after finding another case report recommended replacing the master cylinder. Of note, this is similar to NHTSA recall 23V-458 for other Acura/Honda models from 2019/2020 where there were issues with the master cylinder, but the Acura ILX was not included. There was also a NHTSA Acura Service Bulletin 22-014 from 2022 advising of a search for Acura 2019 ILX vehicles with an intermittent brake issue. I have also attached my correspondence with Acura.

To Whom It May Concern: I am writing to express my serious concerns regarding the safety recall (NHTSA Recall No. 21V-215) for the fuel pump on my 2019 Acura ILX, VIN [XXX] . While I appreciate that American Honda has issued this recall, I am deeply troubled by the lack of available replacement parts and the company's decision to prioritize repairs only for vehicles currently experiencing symptoms. This approach fails to adequately address the safety risks for all affected vehicles and owners. The recall notice clearly states that the defective fuel pump impeller can deform over time, potentially causing the engine to stall while driving and increasing the risk of a crash. By delaying repairs for vehicles not yet exhibiting symptoms, American Honda is placing owners like myself at unnecessary risk of experiencing a dangerous malfunction while operating our vehicles. I have contacted several Acura dealerships, all of which have confirmed they have limited or no parts available to complete this critical safety repair. This situation is unacceptable given the serious nature of the defect and the potential consequences of a fuel pump failure. I urge American Honda to take immediate action to: 1.Accelerate production and distribution of replacement fuel pump modules to all authorized Acura dealers. 2.Offer loaner vehicles or alternative transportation to all affected owners until repairs can be completed. 3.Provide a firm timeline for when all affected vehicles will be able to receive the recall repair. 4.Consider expanding reimbursement eligibility to cover preventative repairs owners may pursue given the delays. American Honda has a responsibility to promptly remedy this safety defect for all affected vehicles, not just those currently exhibiting symptoms. Failure to do so in a timely manner may expose the company to increased liability and potential legal action.
