Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to appear on the display. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse gear. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Audi will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the rearview camera software.

Heater And Defroster

Issue: On certain vehicles, the recall repairs completed by an Audi dealer during recall 82C7 (Transport Canada recall no. 2023-314) may not be effective. As a result, a second repair may be required. On certain vehicles, the high-voltage electric heater could fail. If this happens, you may experience reduced cabin heat, and the windshield defrost system may not work properly. Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2023-314. Safety Risk: A windshield defroster that doesn't work may cause reduced visibility and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Audi will notify owners by mail. As an interim repair, if your high-voltage electric heater fails before the final repair is available, Audi will replace it with a new part of the same design, free of charge. When the final repairs are available, Audi will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the passenger compartment high-voltage electric heater with an improved part.

Airbag

Issue: On certain vehicles, the passenger occupant detection system (PODS) may malfunction. This could cause the airbag system to turn off the passenger-front airbag even when a passenger is seated. Note: This problem would cause an error message to display on the instrument panel and a warning chime to sound. The airbag indicator light would also display "passenger airbag off". Safety Risk: An airbag that is turned off could increase the risk of injury to a passenger in a crash. Corrective Actions: Audi will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the passenger-front seat cushion. Audi advises that you shouldn't use the front passenger seat if a PODS error message displays on the instrument panel or if the airbag indicator light displays "passenger airbag off" with an occupant in the seat.

High Voltage

Issue: On certain vehicles, there could be a problem inside the high-voltage battery. As a result, the battery modules could overheat and short circuit. Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2024-189. Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair. Safety Risk: A short circuit in the high-voltage battery can create a fire risk. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Audi recommends that you set the maximum charge setting of your vehicle at 80% until the recall repairs are completed. Audi will notify owners by mail. As an interim repair, a dealer will inspect and, if necessary, replace the high-voltage battery modules. Once the final repair is available, Audi will notify you by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to install an advanced diagnostic software that will monitor the high-voltage battery and warn you if it detects a problem.

Corrective Actions: Audi will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the vehicle charging cable. Purchased a used 2022 Audi E-Tron GT with an open NHTSA safety recall for high-voltage battery fire risk (Recall 24V726 / Audi 931A). The recall remedy had not been performed at time of purchase. The selling dealer completed a pre-delivery inspection two weeks prior to sale with full knowledge of the open recall. Within 7 weeks of purchase, the vehicle entered limited performance mode (turtle mode) while driving and had to be towed. A high-voltage coolant pump was diagnosed faulty and replaced. Days later, the vehicle powered down completely while driving. Fault codes indicated an implausible signal from the HV battery controller. The battery management controller (J840) was replaced. After replacement, additional faults were found. The HV battery switch box (SX6) was also diagnosed faulty and replaced. The vehicle was out of service approximately 18 days for this event alone. Within 11 months of purchase, the vehicle developed water intrusion in the trunk area traced to a faulty spoiler motor sealing surface. This caused corrosion to the center tail lamp connector, electrical shorts to all three tail lamps, and required repair of six wiring harness connections. A body electrical wiring repair was also documented in service history prior to purchase, suggesting a pre-existing sealing defect. Total: 9 dealer visits and 50+ days out of service in under 14 months. All repairs performed under manufacturer warranty. The open safety recall was not completed until 8 months after purchase.

The contact owns a 2022 Audi E-Tron GT. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V726000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I was in Portland, Oregon, charging the car at a 350 fast station located in Fred Meyer and it was snowing and raining at the same time. I couldn't get the car to charge more the 90 % and got only 175 miles. Since it was wet, the car windshield will not defrost. The visibility in the car was not very good. I start driving back home to Eugene, around 100 miles. I was concern if i can make it home. When i arrive home, i had only 20 miles left on the charge. The car used to get 230 to 240 miles ranges. Now, even in mild weather, i get 199 miles maximum with 100% charge. I left the car to the dealer to check the battery and they didn't find anything wrong. Now, I will not drive the car in cold weather since i feel not safe driving more than a 100 miles and the charging station will not deliver the charge at more than 20 kw(it will take 2 days to charge the battery at 20 kw).

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The heater has failed. Dealer has diagnosed as high voltage heating unit failure. The issue is that this problem is occurring in many etron GTs and Porsche Taycans and there is no info from Audi as to when they will have replacement parts. No heat in the middle of winter, and the windows fog up, forcing you to drive with a window cracked open.

POWER TRAIN

On Thursday August 4, 2022, after backing out of a space, I placed the vehicle in drive and the vehicle shifted uncommanded to neutral prior to being motion. My vehicle has shifted to neutral once and park twice previously. I reported this issue to Audi of Indianapolis in May 2022, but no technical remedy was provided.

POWER TRAIN

After exiting the highway and slowing for traffic the car lost power and displayed a message along the lines of "Drive system malfunction. Continued driving not possible." I was able to limp the car out of traffic to a parking lot nearby, but the car had almost no power. You could push the accelerator all the way to the floor and the car would barely move. Once in the parking lot I turned the car off for a few minutes and then back on. The problem appeared to resolve but once exiting the parking lot immediately came back. Once again I limped to another parking lot and shut the car off longer, waiting for it to go to "sleep." After restarting the car this time the error was gone and driving functionality was normal, and has not reoccurred since (knock on wood). The e-tron GT owners forum has a thread where others have experienced the issue, which is how I was aware that turning the car off and on could resolve the problem and allow continued driving. While the issue has not persisted, it put me in a very dangerous situation where I lost all power in the middle of traffic. I'm thankful I had exited the interstate when it occurred and it didn't happen while I was traveling at a high speed.

While backing out of a parking space, with the car in reverse and in motion, the car turned itself off. The car stopped abruptly, I'm not sure if it applied the brakes or some sort of parking brake - at first I thought we got hit from behind - it was very forceful. The car turning itself off and stopping without warning is a huge safety risk, I am glad it did not happen on a roadway. Possibly related, I had started the "Park assist" feature from my phone. I started the engine from my phone, but did not move the car. I entered the car and put it in reverse. I wonder if the "Park assist" timed out and triggered the car turning off. It was about 30 seconds from when the car turned on before it turned off. Depending on the parking configuration, that would be enough time to get onto a public road, a real danger. To best address the specific questions in guidelines, it has not been looked at by a dealer or service center. I have encountered dozens of minor safety issues with the car (ie. unexpected braking, unexpected phantom lane keep turns, lane keep turning into obstacles, inconsistent idle/creep movements, unexpected high beam re-enabling, false SOS signals, etc). When I reported these to the dealer, they either said "unable to reproduce" or "works as intended". None of these rose to the level I felt it needed to be reported, but I can expand on those issues more if needed.
