Serious Loss-of-Propulsion Safety Incident Shortly before [XXX], [XXX] was driving on [XXX], a divided four-lane roadway. [XXX] entered the designated left-turn lane intending to cross two lanes of oncoming traffic and enter a shopping center. After allowing approaching vehicles to clear and determining that he had sufficient distance to safely complete the turn, [XXX] accelerated into the intersection. While he was crossing the oncoming lanes, the vehicle suddenly displayed a large warning accompanied by a red triangle stating: “STOP SAFELY VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF SOON.” The vehicle then lost normal propulsion and effectively stopped in the middle of the roadway while oncoming traffic was approaching. [XXX] pressed the accelerator completely to the floor. The vehicle responded only by moving forward at a slow crawl. [XXX] was ultimately able to clear the roadway before being struck. NHTSA complaint #11758517 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
The vehicle has experienced repeated failures of its electrical, high-voltage propulsion, charging, and starting systems. Beginning in November 2025, the vehicle intermittently failed to start, shut down while idling, displayed a “Service Charging System” message, and would not properly request energy when plugged in. During a subsequent repair visit, the customer reported an electrical-system message, failure to start, and that the vehicle would turn off by itself while driving. The authorized dealer performed extensive diagnostics, documented numerous high-voltage and electrical fault codes, consulted manufacturer technical assistance, and ultimately replaced the rear electric drive motor. Despite these repairs, the same or substantially similar problems have returned. The unexpected shutdown while driving presents a serious safety hazard because of the potential for sudden loss of propulsion in traffic. The vehicle is available for inspection.
NHTSA complaint #11757783 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
As I pulled out of my driveway, my vehicle’s accelerator failed to respond to my input. The braking system worked flawlessly, with no delay in response. However, when I attempted to accelerate in either forward or reverse, the vehicle took approximately 3–5 seconds to respond to my input. This is a major safety issue.
NHTSA complaint #11757474 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
On August 15, 2026, my 2025 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T became inoperable while being used on a public roadway. The vehicle could no longer be operated normally, leaving me stranded and requiring Dodge/Mopar Roadside Assistance. The vehicle entered an abnormal electrical/operating state and would not return to normal operation. Because I could not safely continue driving, I requested roadside assistance. The vehicle had to be transported to an authorized Dodge dealership. The vehicle was delivered after normal service hours on Saturday night and was left through the dealership’s after-hours/night-drop procedure for diagnosis when the service department reopens. This created a safety concern because the vehicle unexpectedly became disabled on a public roadway, creating a potential collision risk to the occupants and surrounding motorists. The vehicle has approximately 2,500 miles and had already required two prior warranty/service visits involving service-warning or service-light conditions within its first approximately 2,500 miles. The cause of this failure has not yet been determined. I do not want to speculate about the failed component before the authorized Dodge dealer completes diagnosis. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and is available for inspection. Dodge/Mopar Roadside Assistance and towing records document the incident and transport to the dealership. I am reporting this because a nearly new electric vehicle unexpectedly became inoperable during roadway use and required roadside assistance and towing. I am concerned about a possible electrical, propulsion, control-system, or software-related defect that could cause unexpected vehicle disablement.
NHTSA complaint #11757203 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
I am reporting an ongoing electrical/charging system problem with my 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T. During August 2026 alone, my vehicle has been taken to the Dodge dealership four times for electrical-related problems, recalls, software updates, and/or repairs. Most recently, on August 14, 2026, I picked the vehicle up from the dealership after it had been serviced. While driving home from the dealership, the vehicle displayed a red electrical plug warning along with the message “SERVICE CHARGING SYSTEM.” I have a photograph documenting the warning. This is particularly concerning because the vehicle had just been returned to me as serviced/repaired, yet another charging/electrical-system warning appeared before I could even make it home. The vehicle has experienced repeated electrical-related issues requiring multiple dealership visits within a very short period of time. I am concerned about the reliability and safety of the vehicle’s electrical and high-voltage charging systems, especially because the problems continue despite repeated dealership service. I am requesting that NHTSA document and review this complaint for a possible recurring electrical or charging-system defect affecting the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona. I am also retaining all available photographs, dealership repair orders, service records, recall/update documentation, and dates the vehicle has been out of service.

1. car flashed text on dash "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon". this was when it was 'off' (vehicle was stuck not in park and it was unclear if engine was on or off, but could not shift gears or move car). I'm concerned the vehicle has electric failures and I drive a lot and with children on highways. Warnings for transmission, electric kept cycling. 2. safety was it was a big parking lot with families walking in front/ around my car with baseball fields in front for over 2 hours. 3. car is waiting for dealership to reproduce or confirm, but the car was towed yesterday but I was told its starting today. this car has multiple open cases for re-occuring problems with electric. 4. no prior warnings except intermittent service engine soon that would be on for a day, then off for a day a few times (had an appointment scheduled to assess but then this bigger problem occurred).
NHTSA complaint #11748556 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
While driving on Route 130 in New Jersey on 7/6/26 at around noon I encountered a heavy rain storm. During this downpour I received warning messages about the emergency hood release being activated and that the car was entering limp mode with reduced propulsion. My car slowed to a crawl, luckily everyone was going slower thanks to the heavy rain and I was able to pull over to attempt to close the hood. It took around ten tries but I was finally able to get it to shut so I could drive home safely. This has happened before after a car wash so I suspect that there is some sort of electrical issue or short causing the hood to release when exposed to water.

After having been in the possession of my car for 2 weeks, it went into a "bricked" mode where it could not be started. The only fix was for it to be towed to a dealer who was able to disconnect the 12V battery and reconnect it. This allowed it to run but in a reduced capacity. One week later, it was bricked again. I had it towed to another dealership who replaced that battery. The battery was faulty and was causing the car to not get receive updates. Since then, this issue has happened one more time and I was able to "reset" the car by walking away for 15 minutes, allowing the computer to turn off then try again.

We have leased this car since May of 2025. It has been in the Dodge repair shop over a dozen times for the electrical system warning light coming on. It had to be towed tot he dealer twice for it, other times it was drivable to get it there. This car is a complete Lemon and we are trying to get Dodge/Stellantis to pay us or preferably to buy it back and they are stalling. The car is a danger to drive as the forward collision does not warn you or apply the brakes ever as it was supposed to do. The electrical problems continue and this car is not safe to drive and Dodge needs to be issuing a recall to get these off the road. We have filed a Lemon Law suit and they are not offering enough money for the problems the car has.

[XXX] [XXX] , [XXX] 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T (EV) (VIN: [XXX] Dick Poe Dodge, El Paso, Texas on XXX and is financed through XXX, El Paso (loan #60486681). Since owning this car, I have experienced frequent software related problems of which has left me stranded (3) three times with one time requiring a tow to the dealership for service. As well, my Charger has been in the shop 6 times for both software related and part failure related issues. The list of parts to date that have required replacement are: 120V battery and amp for factory exhaust system. Software related problems have included: not starting, not recognizing key fob to enter vehicle, vehicle error and check engine light and other warning lights such as the SOS system being offline. It has bricked 4 times. It has also made unexplained noises such as a knocking noise on start up which the manufacture said was normal, but the dealership service department didn’t agree. The Dick Poe Service Departments communication with Stellantis engineers have fixed each software and part issue only to have the same issues present themselves weeks and months at a time. I am a [XXX] XXX. The constant problems with this vehicle have worsened my PTDS symptoms due to the constant issues, problems, and required work. Vehicle is currently at Dick Poe Dodge Jeep Service this morning (6/1/2026) because the vehicle will not charge as well as not recognizing the key fob for entry/ exit, software updates, and an instrument cluster recall. NHTSA complaint #11741260 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
After doing some grocery shopping for about 20–30 minutes, I returned to my vehicle, put it in drive, pressed the accelerator, and received no response for approximately 3 to 4 seconds. I then pressed the brake and experienced the exact same issue — no response from the system for about 3 to 4 seconds. I decided to shut the vehicle down, wait approximately 10 seconds, and restart it. After restarting, the brake responded immediately (as expected), but there was still a significant delay from the accelerator of about 3 to 4 seconds. I then drove to another parking lot approximately 0.2 miles down the road, parked the vehicle, walked around the store for another 20 minutes, and returned to the vehicle. At that point, everything worked as intended. The accelerator and braking systems both responded properly. On Monday, May 11, I went to the Carvana Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram location in [XXX] , where I was informed by the Service Manager that they would likely need to keep the vehicle for over a month to troubleshoot the issue with Chrysler before they could attempt a resolution, since the entire electrical system is effectively locked down and controlled by FCA electrical engineers. Also, a loaner was not an option if they kept the vehicle. Less than 5,000 miles on this vehicle with clearly a critical issue and almost no attempt to help the customer. NHTSA complaint #11737249 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
While traveling at 75MPH on the highway, the vehicle shut down. No propulsion at all and the error message "Pull Over Safely - Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" was displayed. Was able to coast to a nearby exit and have the car taken to a dealer for service. Very unnerving at 75MPH and a significant safety hazard to me and other drivers.

2025 Dodge Charger EV | VIN: [XXX] | Purchased: April 11, 2026 | Dealer: Thunder Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Bartow, FL I am reporting multiple active, unresolved safety system failures that began within 24 hours of purchase and remain unrepaired after two dealer visits. On April 15–16, 2026, the dealer documented NINE fault codes across FIVE modules, including an active Electronic Throttle Module fault that would not clear — a direct risk of unintended acceleration or loss of speed control. Additional active alerts included ABS failure, brake system failure, airbag system failure, suspension failure, and blind spot system failure. The only repair performed was a software flash. No safety systems were physically repaired. Alerts returned May 2, 2026. Pre-sale service history (undisclosed at sale) shows five battery-charging failures, a July 2025 software fault, and a complete no-start event on December 18, 2025 requiring updates to four electronic modules. A post-purchase repair invoice (April 2025) also documents a Collision Thrust Angle Alignment — a frame geometry procedure performed after structural impact — raising concerns about airbag deployment zone integrity. The trunk will fail after 3 to 5 attempts to open it. The car is available for inspection. Anything or anyone locked in the trunk cannot be retrieved by exterior trunk release for an undetermined amount of time. The issue has been confirmed by the Dodge dealer and the manufacturer Stellantis. The manufacture Stellantis has sent a representative and they have confirmed the issue. There are no warning signs the trunk will fail.

The vehicle was completely dead on the morning of 2/24/2026. Following the proper jumping procedure, the vehicle was jumped to restore power. A message on the dash stated to "check charging system". This message is generic in nature and usually indicates a 12V battery problem. The vehicle was left on and then plugged in to a Level 2 EV charger. The vehicle then caught fire and destroyed our detached garage. Stellantis did send an independent investigator who indicated that the fire likely started on the front right of the vehicle. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? UKNOWN How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Vehicle caught fire with no warning. If our garage was not detached, we would have lost our home. Others are at risk if this is a design defect. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? UNKNOWN - Vehicle was totaled Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Insurance, Fire, and Stellantis (private third party investigator). Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Vehicle was without power/no start. Vehicle was jumped per manual. Displayed "Check Charging System" and a "red wrench" icon. No other indications that a serious fault was in process.
NHTSA complaint #11725702 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
In early September 2025, I leased a 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona EV. Unfortunately, the vehicle has already been in the dealership service department three separate times since I took delivery. The first two service visits occurred after the vehicle completely bricked and would not turn on. I was informed that the vehicle’s electronic module required updating and that the batteries had repeatedly died. Most recently, the situation has escalated to a significant safety concern. Earlier this week, the vehicle began shaking and intermittently accelerating and decelerating on its own while in operation(I have video proof of this) This behavior poses a serious danger to me and to others on the road. Due to these ongoing issues, I filed a formal complaint with Stellantis and was assigned case number [XXX]. I have been working with Stellantis representative Steve Stander; however, communication has been extremely difficult. Unfortunately, Mr. Stander has not been responsive to phone calls or emails in a timely manner, which has made resolving this matter challenging. At this time, the vehicle is once again in the shop, leaving me without transportation. During our last discussion, Mr. Stander acknowledged that Stellantis understands the vehicle is not dependable and offered $10,000 in down payment assistance along with employee pricing on a new Stellantis product. However, I currently still owe approximately $3,400 on the lease. Given the serious safety issues and repeated failures of the vehicle, I am requesting Stellantis’ assistance in grounding the lease and covering the remaining $3,400 balance so that I may exit this lease. I also previously sent Mr. Stander a video clearly showing the vehicle accelerating on its own to document the issue. I would greatly appreciate your help in resolving this matter as quickly as possible. It is urgent that I be able to safely exit this vehicle situation. The contact owns a 2026 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that the battery was completely drained. The contact stated that the hood plastic scoop was leaking onto the felt heat protector, and the engine was wet whenever it rained. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, and the battery was replaced. The contact called another dealer, Elmwood Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Service & Parts Center (625 Taunton Ave, East Providence, RI 02914); but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 67.

I am filing a safety defect complaint regarding a 2026 Dodge Charger Daytona (400V electric vehicle platform) that suffered a catastrophic high-voltage system shutdown at approximately 1,261 miles. The vehicle had charge remaining and was being prepared for charging when it experienced a forced EV system shutdown and would not restart. The vehicle displayed partial state-of-charge but became completely electrically inoperative.
