2015 Fleetwood Bounder at 22,500 miles ANN Arbor, MI

EQUIPMENT:RECREATIONAL VEHICLE/TRAILER

I AM THE OWNER OF A 2015 FLEETWOOD BOUNDER 35K. I'VE ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM WITH THE EMERGENCY EGRESS WINDOWS (2 OF 3) IN THE COACH, WHERE THE METAL CLOSING MECHANISM DETACHES FROM THE WINDOW GLASS. THE WINDOWS ARE MANUFACTURED BY HEHR AND INSTALLED ON NUMEROUS FLEETWOOD RV PRODUCTS. ONCE DETACHED, THE WINDOW MUST BE TAPED SHUT TO PREVENT WATER INGRESS INTO THE COACH, ELIMINATING THE USE OF THE EGRESS WINDOW FOR ITS INTENDED EMERGENCY EXIT FUNCTION. THIS IS THE ONLY SOLUTION, PENDING SOME TYPE OF REPAIR. I'VE MADE NUMEROUS CALLS TO VARIOUS AUTO GLASS INSTALLERS, FLEETWOOD (REV GROUP) AND AN HEHR DISTRIBUTOR WITH NONE BEING ABLE TO PROVIDE A WORKABLE, VIABLE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. I'VE ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM WITH SUGGESTIONS FROM RV INTERNET GROUPS, BUT SHORT OF THE ORIGINAL ADHESIVE (WHICH NO ONE CAN IDENTIFY) REPAIRS ARE TEMPORARY AT BEST. I CONTEND THAT HEHR (WINDOW MANUFACTURER) AND FLEETWOOD REV GROUP HAVE PRODUCED A SUBSTANDARD RV EGRESS WINDOW THAT PLACES THE RV OWNERS IN JEOPARDY. I FURTHER SUGGEST THAT THIS ISSUE EXTENDS FAR BEYOND JUST FLEETWOOD PRODUCTS BUT LIKELY INCLUDES MANUFACTURERS ACROSS THE RV INDUSTRY THAT USE HEHR RV EGRESS WINDOWS.*DT*DT CONSUMER STATED THE ENTIRE LATCH DETACHED FROM THE WINDOW. AT THAT POINT THE LATCH COULD BE COMPLETELY REMOVED. HAD I NOT DISCOVERED IT, THE ENTIRE LATCH MECHANISM COULD HAVE FALLEN OUT WHILE DRIVING. *JB *DT*DT*JB*DT

EQUIPMENT:RECREATIONAL VEHICLE/TRAILER

THE CABINETS OVER THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE OF THE MOTOR HOME (RV). DROPPED APPROXIMATELY 6 TO12 INCHES. FEW SCREWS ON THE LEFT SIDE HELD IT FROM DROPPING ALL THE WAY DOWN. IT APPEARS THAT THE LARGE SCREWS MISSED THE SUPPORTS AND THE SMALL SCREWS NEVER MADE IT TO THE SUPPORT. NOTHING IS KEPT IN THESE CABINETS EXCEPT A FEW ITEM THAT WERE PUT IN AT THE FACTORY. (NO TV)

1999 Fleetwood Bounder at 38,225 miles Verona, NY Fire

EQUIPMENT:RECREATIONAL VEHICLE/TRAILER

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FLEETWOOD BOUNDER. WHILE HEADING TO A SERVICE STATION APPROXIMATELY FOUR MILES FROM HOME, THE CONTACT SMELLED A STRONG AMMONIA ODOR. HE PULLED INTO A DUMP SITE AND CLEANED OUT THE VEHICLE. HE CONTINUED DRIVING AND THE SMELL REMAINED. HE SHUT OFF THE REFRIGERATOR TO GET GASOLINE; HOWEVER, HE DID NOT SMELL THE ODOR ANYMORE SINCE THE REFRIGERATOR WAS OFF. HE TURNED THE VALVE BACK ON AND HIS WIFE SMELLED AMMONIA AGAIN. THE CONTACT PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND REMOVED THE SIDE COMPARTMENT FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. HE NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE BURNER HOUSING COMPARTMENT AND ALSO HEARD A CRACKLING SOUND IN THE BURNER TUBE. HE WAITED A MOMENT UNTIL THE CRACKLING STOPPED. ONCE THE CONTACT ARRIVED HOME, HE LOCATED A RECALL ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND A NOTICE SENT BY DOMETIC. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WERE ONLY RESPONSIBLE FOR INSTALLING THE HEAT SHIELD ACCORDING TO THE RECALL, BUT NOT FOR ANY OTHER REPAIRS. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 38,225.
