I was driving with some gravel in the back and the trailer sway control came on causing it to brake and almost lose control on the interstate in front of a semi. This. Vehicle has never had a trailer attached and the nothing in the trailer plug and that still came on.

I have been unable to rent my vehicle since then and Ford has not provided a remedy to this recall. I would like to log a complaint that this software fix remedy has taken too long.

This is a supplemental filing to my existing NHTSA complaint #11715308. I am requesting that the Office of Defects Investigation open a formal Preliminary Evaluation into the 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid braking system. Since my original complaint, the following has occurred: Ford Motor Company denied my claim on April 2, 2026 through a three-sentence letter from a paralegal at Erskine Law PC in Michigan. The denial addressed none of the evidence submitted including repair orders, fault codes from Ford's own OASIS system, a recorded call proving warranty claim suppression, and a notarized sworn statement. The vehicle now has 107,982 miles. The ABS defect remains unrepaired after four attempts and over 50 days out of service. Active fault codes C052E and U0418 were confirmed in Ford's OASIS system when the vehicle was returned unrepaired on January 28, 2026. Ford has already issued Recall 25V787000 for brake booster ECU overheating causing loss of brake power assist in Maverick vehicles, demonstrating prior corporate knowledge of braking defects in this model line. There are currently 149 brake-related complaints in the NHTSA database for the 2024 Ford Maverick with no open ODI investigation. On [XXX], the braking defect caused a collision (APD Crash Report [XXX], no driver error assigned). I have a notarized sworn statement linking the collision to the unrepaired defect. I have concurrent active complaints with the NM Department of Justice (XXX), BBB AUTO LINE (XXX), FTC (#XXX), CFPB (#XXX), and Ford's internal SpeakUp ethics program (#XXX). I am formally requesting ODI review of the 2024 Maverick Hybrid braking system given the volume of complaints, the existing recall on related models, and Ford's documented refusal to repair my vehicle despite confirmed fault codes in their own diagnostic system. I am reporting a recurring safety-critical failure. On two separate occasions, the vehicle has experienced a total electrical and mechanical shutdown while in operation. During these events, the 12V power system fails completely, turning off all instrumentation and, most critically, the electronic power brake assist. This results in a 'hard pedal' condition where the vehicle is nearly impossible to stop without extreme physical force. The first instance occurred at road speeds, forcing an emergency maneuver into a turning lane to avoid traffic. The second instance occurred while reversing, causing the vehicle to lose all braking and propulsion and roll into a busy road resulting in a near-miss collision. The vehicle is currently unsafe to drive as the shutdowns are intermittent and occur without warning.

not every time, but several times throughout driving around all day, i notice: the vehicle is in 'eco' driving mode, and while i start to slow down, lightly applying constant pressure to the brake pedal, the vehicle goes from a smooth constant slowing down pace, and all of a sudden, the vehicle seems to surge/lurch/lunge forward at a faster pace, and then a fraction of a second later, the vehicle then slows down closer to expected. Im not sure if its an issue with the hybrid eCVT , the regenerative hybrid braking, or the electronic ABS ... or some mixture of these systems. The griffin Ford dealership claims they cant re-create it, and there is no 'fix'. I drive around basically every day, and notice it now at least once to 10 times per day. the current local weather is around 20 degrees, up to maybe 50 at the hottest.

I have a 2022 Ford Maverick XL Hybrid and the system that failed is the rear lighting system, specifically the tail lamps, brake lamps, and rear turn signals. This appears to be related to the Body Control Module (BCM) software, which was the subject of Ford Recall 24S27 affecting many 2022–2024 Ford Mavericks. The failure began on my vehicle with the left rear tail lamp assembly (running light, brake light, and turn signal), and within approximately two minutes the right rear tail lamp assembly also stopped functioning. Since that time, the entire rear lighting system has been inoperative while driving. This issue creates an extremely serious safety hazard. While driving, my vehicle has no functioning rear running lights, brake lights, or turn signals. This means other drivers cannot see when I am braking, signaling a turn, or even driving at night. This significantly increases the risk of rear-end collisions or other traffic accidents, especially in low visibility conditions. I was unaware of the issue until visually noticing it when unlocking the vehicle, and there were no dashboard alerts to warn me prior to that either. Loveland Ford in Loveland, Colorado inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the rear lighting system is not functioning. However, instead of addressing the known Recall 24S27 Body Control Module software issue, they stated that LED bulbs were installed where halogen bulbs should be and issued an $816 estimate to replace the bulbs. I have never performed any aftermarket modifications, and the vehicle has only been serviced by Ford dealerships. The vehicle has been inspected by Loveland Ford, an authorized Ford dealership. Ford customer service confirmed that Recall 24S27 exists for this exact issue in many 2022–2024 Ford Mavericks but stated there is no record of my VIN receiving the recall remedy, which could mean the recall was never accomplished. No warning lamps, dashboard messages, or other alerts appeared prior to the failure.

RITICAL BRAKING FAILURE & DEALER NEGLIGENCE: The vehicle exhibits a violent shudder and loss of deceleration during the hand-off between regenerative and friction braking. This defect was first reported to the dealer (Rich Ford) at 35,399 miles (RO #[XXX]) within the Bumper-to-Bumper warranty but was not repaired. THE INCIDENT: On [Insert Date], the braking system failed to decelerate the vehicle during a traffic slowdown. The pedal vibrated violently, and the vehicle did not stop. I was forced to swerve across two lanes of traffic onto the shoulder to avoid a high-speed rear-end collision. DEALER NEGLIGENCE: The vehicle was in dealer possession from Jan 12–28, 2026 (16 days). Odometer records prove they only test-drove it for 7 miles. They failed to apply known TSB 23-2209 (Hybrid Shudder) and released the vehicle to me despite active internal ABS Pump Control Codes (C052E and U0418) recorded in the vehicle logs on Jan 22, 2026. REPORTING IRREGULARITY: The dealer coded this latest safety attempt as "Routine Maintenance/Flush" rather than a safety repair, effectively hiding the defect history from the manufacturer and my warranty provider to avoid Lemon Law liability. While flat towing in Neutral Tow Mode yesterday, [XXX] (appx. [XXX]), we were headed west on [XXX] traveling at 55-mph in the #2 lane when the Maverick abruptly started screeching the tires and dragging behind our motorhome. I was able to safely get to the right shoulder within about 100-yards. We were 18-miles into the 104-mile journey to our home from the RV park in San Dimas. (Level ground.) I then got in the Maverick, placed my foot on the brake, started it and shifted to Park to take it out of Neutral Tow Mode. (It started right up) I then received an error message on the display “Electronic Parking Brake needs servicing” I then unhooked the Maverick from the motorhome and successfully backed it up 50-yards along the shoulder and then drove it forward, the drive train seemed to be fine. At that point I decided to hobble home with my wife driving the Maverick, following behind the motorhome… when I located the next convenient offramp we pulled over to a side street where I drove the Maverick about 2-miles just to verify that it was drivable (other than the flat spots on the front tires.) I know that the EPB activates the rear brakes when stopped, however there aren’t any distinguishable flat spots on the rear tires. I understand that the EPB activates the hydraulic system when activated while in motion. This leads me to believe that the EPB activated on the freeway, causing the malfunction. When we safely returned home I connected the Maverick to the RV and flat towed for 5-miles without any problems. (Appx. 3:00pm) Other Possibility Possibly Neutral Tow Mode disengaged causing the drivetrain to lock up? But it was still in Neutral Tow Mode when I got in the vehicle to start it after the braking incident, and the vehicle doesn’t seemed to have drive train damage. (It drove the remaining 85-miles home without issue.) BlueOx Towing Setup (we have towed for 5,000 miles without issue) and BlueOx Patriot 3 supplemental brake system. my daughter rear-ended another driver as she was entering a turn lane. Moments prior to the accident, she described what sounds like a brake booster failure. There was no indication the AEB system activated and only the airbag at her feet deployed. She hit the car in front of her at ~35 mph. 1. Brake system failure - yes, it is currently available for inspection 2. Car failed to stop and resulted in an accident. Luckily no-one was seriously injured. 3&4 car has not be examined by anyone, yet. Trying to figure out who best to look at the vehicle. 5 unknown

In the first week with only 107 miles, the brakes failed 3 times at very low speeds. Once while backing out and no brakes at all. 2 days later while turning a corner in a parking light they totally failed and I just missed hitting a car. And the 3rd time when I was trying driving out of the Ford dealership they failed and I hit the dealership truck and damaged both vehicles. They didn’t believe me until I took it to the garage and parked it. Then they started it up it had no brakes.

6-18-25, driving at 20 mph in my neighborhood, applied brakes and pedal sank to the floor with no pressure. Pumped approximately six times with no pressure. On the last pump, I got severe juddering through the truck ( felt similar to an ABS activation) still no pedal pressure, but it did stop. Upon shutdown and restart, pedal was back to normal. Obvious safety issue as it would have caused a collision had I been on anything other than a quiet street. There were no warning lights on the dash and no fluid leaks. This is a new truck with 470 miles on it. Vehicle is currently at a Ford dealership. As of this writing no diagnosis.

The contact owns a 2023 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, the brake warning light illuminated. The contact attempted to depress the brake pedal; however, the brakes failed to stop the vehicle. The contact shifted into neutral and coasted to a patch of grass where the vehicle came to a stop. The vehicle was turned off and after a while and shifted into park and restarted. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle and became aware that the lights were no longer illuminated and continued driving. The dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed there were no recalls on the VIN. The contact stated that approximately 3 months after the first failure, the failure reoccurred while driving approximately 45 MPH, causing the contact to coast onto the off-ramp and a curb while in neutral to stop the vehicle. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to restart and drive the vehicle to the dealer with the hazard lights activated. The dealer was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.

Upon exiting my garage I always stop to close the door. My driveway has incline. I begin to roll back, hit the breaks several times with no engagement, begin pumping the brake pedal several times, no response. Continued to roll in reverse going across the street and hit neighbor's park car in their driveway. Police Officer noted that brake pedal was very low upon applying brakes and a hiss sound of like a vacuum or pressure lost. Reported a claim to insurance company. I never observed any indication of faults. Had truck toed to Greiner Ford to be inspected and or repaired. They said they could not find anything wrong with brake system or electronics. Since the incident I have reviewed by Ring camera video of that day and noticed that the DRL lights were flashing like a turn signal light which are not supposed to do. Truck is presently at Greiner Ford Collision Center for repair of damage to drive side rearend. I will have Greiner reinspect once collision damage is repaired and advise them of the flashing DRL's Other problems encountered prior to this incident: 1. Several times with adaptative cruise on and lane departure on there has been several notifications of cancelations were noted. 2. Several times horn has sounded when opening door with truck turned off. 3. Pre collision notification without anything in front of truck. I will also note that after receipt of new vehicle, approximately 1 to 2 months the truck was updated with new software.

New 2024 Ford Maverick. 12,000 miles. At around 10K miles, a factory recall regarding the firmware driving the brake light system was performed. This has 'broken' the factory installed trailer braking system that applies braking to an attached trailer with electric brakes. This is very dangerous, since failed trailer braking can cause a severe accident. The factory system shows alerts on the dash: when a trailer is electrically connected to the truck, the system responds with "Trailer connected". And now, that same message appears, but as soon as you apply brakes, either physically or by the factory system, an alert says, "Trailer disconnected". This never happened before the recall was performed. Also, If you connect the trailer and the system says "trailer connected", if you adjust the braking 'gain' in the cab of the truck, the system says "no trailer", and yet the other alert says "trailer connected". This is a computer firmware fault. This has been recorded by other owners online.

The rear brakes and rotors have prematurely worn out at only 28k miles, while the front brakes are like new. There is no way for me or any local repair shop to put it into brake service mode. The official Ford procedure does not work. NHTSA issued SSM 51217 acknowledging the issue, but the only solution is only to take it to a Ford dealer to do a simple procedure such as changing rear brake pads. This solution is unacceptable and causes an undue burden upon the customer in time and money for a known manufacturing defect. My closest dealer is 1 hour away. It can not pass my state safety inspection without this being done. Ford should be issuing a recall to address this defect, not simply driving people to the dealer network for basic safety maintenance.

Daughter is [XXX], driving Maverick to Breakfast, got two blocks away and tried to stop for a traffic light, you can hear on the dash cam when airbags deployed the collision operator came on the line and daughter saying, "I tried to stop but the brakes didn't work", the dash cam has sound and showed she was going 23 mph when accident happened. She T boned a car in the intersection. When the Maverick was taken to collision body shop, the estimator said, this is the second Maverick, the First one "Rear Ended another vehicle".
