The contact owns a 2015 Honda GL1800 Motorcycle. The contact stated while driving at approximately 25 MPH, the contact depressed the hand brake lever on the handlebar and the rear brake foot pedal to slow for traffic. The contact was able to restart the vehicle; however, while using the front and rear brakes to stop the motorcycle, the rear wheel locked up. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed and was not repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V700000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). NHTSA complaint #11603180 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
This vehicle has a chronic issue with an unreliable parking brake. The brake is required to be engaged each time the motorcycle is parked since the motorcycle automatically puts it into neutral when the back is turned off. The ceases to hold the bike in place even on minimal inclines because of poor design. The brake requires replacement and/or adjusting every few months and is not reliable. I've had it replaced twice now in less than 1-year, and the Honda dealer will not cover the cost ($350) even though the motorcycle is under manufacturing warranty. It was bought new in 2022 from the Honda dealer (DFW Honda, Grapevine, TX) and has ~3000 miles. When researching the issue within Honda forums onlines, this is a chronic issue that everyone experiences and complains about with this motorcycle - Honda Goldwing DCT.

E-brake does not prevent motorcycle from rolling. Never worked from date of purchase. Had it adjusted at 4000k service but it did not correct the issue. The motorcycle still rolls with the e-brake engaged.

The contact owns a 2016 Honda GL1800. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40-45 MPH, the rear brakes locked up, causing the motorcycle to abruptly stop. The contact pushed the motorcycle to a nearby parking lot and pumped the brake pedal several times until the brakes released. The motorcycle was taken to the dealer but not diagnosed. The motorcycle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,502.

Found that the front brake rotors were on the wrong side. Honda specifies different part numbers for each rotor. Went to dealer to resolve this issue and express my concern about it being a safety issue. The dealer contacted Honda, and they agreed to pay to have the rotors installed the right way and replace the brake pads. But not replace the rotors. My concern is after 14000 miles they are now the rotors are rotating in the opposite. And that this may have compromised structural integrate of the rotors themselves

The front brake calipers have been serviced 2 times in the last 9 months by the same Honda service facility. The vehicle is under Mfg. warranty into 2023. The first service was at about 8,000 miles because the front brake would not release after being applied. The calipers would slowly retract after sitting for some time, but then malfunction again upon next activation. The dealer said that there was debris in the system that caused the problem. They flushed the hydraulic system. I paid out of pocket as the dealer said "This was not covered under the warranty". The second service was on the same components at 9,500 miles. This time the issue was air in the front brake system, causing almost a complete loss of the front brake. It was returned to the same dealer for service. They indicated that it was debris on the outside of caliper pistons. This was also paid out of pocket as is wasn't covered either. I contacted Honda Powersports and they stated that this was not a warranty or safety issue. Stating that "they spoke with the service center and concluded that the solution was to occasionally spray brake cleaner on it. " Also that that I live in Florida and my proximity to salt air was the root cause. I indicated that I live about 1 mile from the coast and rarely go there. The short is that I don't feel confident in the brakes being there when I need the.

Removed the wheels to replace tires at 13000 miles. Noticed the front brake pads are extremely unevenly worn. Inside pads are near the metal while the outside pads are like new. I've begun mentioning this in forums and find that others are saying the same thing.

when just starting out using foot brake and handbrake , handbrake came in towards grip real far and throttle cut out but not off for a few seconds. Then abs and traction control lights came on along with mode selector lights until bike was shut down and restarted. Upon restarting all would be ok for a few miles or even the whole day or would just do it all over again. It did this from june until now where it is presently at the honda dealer while honda tries to figure it out. So far they have not.

On 06/26/2021, Approx 4pm. Traffic heavy. Speed 20 mph or less. This caused consistent brake use. Rear brakes locked up. I was very close to the right edge of the road and bike stopped. I quickly activated emergency flashers and avoided any incident. This bike has ABS. There was a service recall performed about 4 yrs ago- at Barneys MC shop, St Petersburg- related to brakes. I was able to shut off the bike twice. Pumped/tapped FR/R brakes twice and the brakes finally released. No further incident. Will have bike inspected tomorrow. No warning lamps. This bike has very low mileage at 21,000.

ENGINE IS STALLING FROM UNKNOWN CAUSE. ONLY CONSISTENT CONDITION IS THAT IT HAS OCCURRED DURING SOME FORM OF BRAKING AND ONCE CLUTCH IS DISENGAGED. OCCURS AT ALL SPEEDS. MOTORCYCLE WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW AND STALLING OCCURRED IMMEDIATELY AFTER LEAVING DEALERSHIP. STALLING IS INTERMITTENT, BUT FREQUENCY OF OCCURRENCE HAS INCREASED. STALLING OCCURS WHILE IN MOTION. STALLING HAS OCCURRED FROM 3-65 MPH. STALLING HAS OCCURRED WHILE BIKE IS MOVING UPRIGHT AND STRAIGHT. STALLING HAS ALSO OCCURRED WHILE BIKE HAS BEEN LEANED OVER AND TURNING. IN ADDITION, DISENGAGING THE CLUTCH CAUSES A FLUCTUATION IN RPM DEPENDING ON CLUTCH LEVER POSITION. WITH ABSOLUTELY NO THROTTLE INPUT AND WITH CLUTCH LEVER TOUCHING THE GRIP, TRANSMISSION IDLES AT SAME LEVEL IN GEAR AS IT DOES WHEN IN NEUTRAL (APPROXIMATELY 750). HOWEVER, ONCE LEVER MOVES A MERE ⅛ INCH FROM GRIP, THE RPMS INCREASE BY APPROXIMATELY 500 RPM. THIS OCCURS WHEN LEVER STILL HAS AT LEAST ANOTHER 1 INCH OF TRAVEL TO GO UNTIL FRICTION ZONE (ENGAGEMENT). THIS CONDITION IS ALWAYS PRESENT.
