FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS

On XXX I took my vehicle to Ourisman Hyundai of Bowie because my engine light was on. That same day the Service Adviser (Edson XXX) informed me that the engine was burning oil excessively. They performed an oil change and replaced engine oil gasket and asked me to return after driving 1000 miles. Mileage at the time was 103,380. I return on XXX, mileage was 104,580. [XXX] informed me that vehicle failed oil consumption test. He submitted request for engine replacement. On 11/25/2025 I returned to dealer because engine light came on again, and still no approval for engine replacement. I was informed that Hyundai approved combustion chamber cleaning. The service was complete four days later. However, it did not fix the problem. The engine excessive oil burn still happens as of this report. LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST

"The front view camera (FR_CMR) failed due to an internal control chip defect. The component is available for inspection — it is currently at the dealership. Multiple ADAS safety systems were simultaneously disabled, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Driver Attention Warning, and High Beam Assist. This puts both the driver and other road users at risk by removing all active collision prevention and lane keeping systems while driving at highway speeds with no backup warning. The problem has been confirmed by the Hyundai dealership via GDS diagnostic scan showing two DTCs: C160649 (ECU Software Error – Front View Camera) and C180581 (LKAS CAN Signal Error). The vehicle has been inspected by the dealer. Dealer repair order quotes $1,511.87 for camera replacement and calibration. Warning lights for Forward Collision, Driver Attention Warning, and High Beam Assist appeared on the instrument cluster and have remained on continuously. Systems have been disabled since the warning lights first appeared. This is a known internal control chip defect documented in Kia TSB ELE231 (Rev 2, August 2021), covering the identical camera assembly shared across the Hyundai/Kia platform. The same DTCs and same fix — front camera replacement, variant coding, and calibration — are confirmed repaired on other 2020 Palisade Limited vehicles under warranty. Hyundai has not issued a corresponding TSB for the Palisade despite the identical failure mode and shared part. VIN: [XXX] ." FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

I am the 3rd time owner of this palisade. Car was bought after a transmission replacement at 27,000 miles. (Second transmission). At around 70,000 miles, we started to have oil consumption problems/ignition coil problems. After a slew of tests and other recommend procedures that cost us money out of pocket, hyundai recommended to get a new engine. We get the new engine. They call to tell us the new engine is done, and proceed to share the transmission is bad and it needs a new one (3rd transmission). They are asking us to pay for the transmission as well. We want a buy back as we think this is a lemon car. 3 transmissions and a new engine under 85000 miles is not good and definitely grounds for investigation. These repeated failures make it unsafe/unreliable for us to drive our 6 month old baby in, let alone my wife and my myself. . We request and investigation/buyback.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS

I was driving through town at a low rate of speed (20-30 mph) with 2-3 car lengths between me and the next vehicle. I continued through light to next light. This distance was on an upward incline. After traveling approximately 500 ft, I noticed the traffic slowing in front of me and took my foot off the accelerator to start to slow down. This is when the car suddenly accelerated (instead of slowing down as would be expected when traveling up an incline), picking up speed quickly. The car's response happened so quickly that I was unable to swerve to avoid hitting the car in front of me. I hit the car in front of me that was slowing down at the light which then subsequently hit several other vehicles that were in front of it that were also slowing/stopped for the light. The front airbag deployed as a result of the collision, knocking my glasses off. The vehicle was still continuing in forward motion after the collision….Traffic Crash Report states, “... [witness] went up to Unit 1 [Palisade], and the tires were still spinning…” As I was in shock after the collision, a bystander came up to the vehicle to turn it off and this is when the wheels/forward motion was completely stopped. This Palisade is equipped with Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA) system. There was no warning given nor did the vehicle attempt to slow down during the event so I believe that this system failed to operate which contributed to the collision. I also believe that there was a failure with the engine/electrical system, ETC, and/or transmission that caused the system to suddenly accelerate while traveling uphill AFTER I removed my foot from the gas pedal. The vehicle was totaled by my insurance company. They did say that they were sending an engineer to review the Event Data Recorder. I have not seen any results from that nor do I have the vehicle in my possession as it was totaled.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

I was recently involved in an accident with my 2020 Palisade that I believe may have been caused by a brake failure. I was simply moving the vehicle from one part of a driveway to another when, as I drove over a drainage ditch, the brakes did not respond and the car suddenly accelerated into a tree. I sustained facial injuries and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. The vehicle is currently at Canby Motors in Bel Air and is available for inspection. The vehicle has only been inspected by Canby Motors to my knowledge at this time. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS

On rainy days, the vehicle will start malfunctioning putting at risk my family's life and others. It appears to be an electrical problem according to dealer. It had 15 codes activated, all dashboard lights were lit and safety messages showed up, while driving. No power steering, emergency brakes were activated, transmission wouldn't change, a/c stopped working, temperature and tachometer were erratic. It is very scary because it happens while driving and an accident is imminent.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS

On February 2024, I took the SUV to Lynn's Hyundai for an issue with A front sensor or the braking system - The problem is when you're driving at times very often in the streets, the vehicle will automatically cause the brake sensor to go off the dashboard with light up and the brakes will engage causing the vehicle to jerk hard and or stop at times and I have a huge concern that this may cause a serious accident. I was told by Hyundai service department, that perhaps were driving to close to other vehicles to cause this, but it happened several times when there are no vehicles or objects present. Apparently they had no interest in resolving this matter, they claim that the system test showed no duplication of said issue, vehicle was taken on a road test and they found no issues, The recall were all fixed, and I was called to pick up vehicle. I drove a few and the braking started again, so I pulled over and started recording to see if happens again and I was able to catch some of this problem on video. This has caused my husband to lose control of the vehicle causing him to hit a cone on the road. Your immediate help with this matter would be greatly appreciate.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

[XXX] - Driving from San Diego to Ventura County (home), my dash flashed something to the effect of "Emergency Braking System Malfunction" as my brakes were engaged while driving 65-70 miles an hour (no vehicles close in front of me or on either side). This was VERY scary and could have caused an accident if there had been vehicles closer. Usually when this system j=kicks in you get a Collision alert alarm, then braking initiates. There was no collision alert either. [XXX] - Took vehicle in and Hyundai said they could not recreate and had me take vehicle home [XXX] - Same thing happened on my way home from camping (emergency braking malfunction and brakes engaged while no vehicles around and nothing in front of me). This time the warning light (Triangle with "!" in middle and a number 1 lit up on dash and stayed on until I turned car off (I have a photo). [XXX] - Found this issue reported by multiple people on Hyundai online forum (emailed to manager at Alexander Hyundai). [XXX] - Took vehicle back in. Manager said he would check cameras as he believes this has happened before and they had to replace cameras. [XXX] - Dealership called and said can't recreate and want me to pick up car. Told them this is going to cause a bad accident and they will be liable. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

On 1/24/2023 I was driving down the road from my home to go to work when, as I was going down an incline, my brakes started pulsing and I lost all braking ability. I drove thru a stop sign, into the intersection and was able to steer the car down the road. It was down a hillside. I was able to eventually stop the vehicle approximately a mile and half from where the brakes failed. I was instructed by the dealership to have the car towed to them so they could evaluate what happened. I did this. The dealership is trying to assess what happened. After 1 week, they replaced all 4 tires, did an alignment and replaced a leaking rear shock. The vehicle had 36,201 miles as of 1/24/2023. The dealership claims that the wear on the tires and the vehicle being out of alignment caused the wheel speed sensor to misread the speed and triggered the ABS to unlock all brakes. When this happened, all the warning lights for the braking system came on: ABS, Auto Hold, Traction Control, Forward Colision Avoidance System, Downhill Descent Control. I had nothing to stop me. Thankfully, no other vehicles came thru the intersection when my vehicle lost control. The dealership has, after a week, supplied me with a loaner vehicle. They are trying to duplicate the loss of brakes and all the lights that were activated when I lost my brakes. I also mentioned to the Service Manager at the dealership that I have repeatedly been asking the technicians to check the tires and to rotate the tires at our last few service appointments and had been assured the tires were fine and the tire rotation would be done. We normally have the tire rotation done every 7,000 miles due to the fact that it is an AWD. If this had been done as we requested, how could this happen? Wouldn't someone have noticed uneven tire wear? Our major concern is that when the brakes fail, you have no backup braking system in place. Is there something wrong with the programming for the electronic braking system?

BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS

This issue was first noticed on December 13th, 2021, and has been an ongoing frustration. I am constantly getting this error: "Parking Sensor Error or Blockage." Please take a look at the attached picture as a reference. On February 8th, 2022, I brought my Hyundai Palisade to the dealer's service department for them to find out what may be wrong. Their technician notes: "Scan all modules for codes with GDS. No DTC in any module. Drove vehicle testing all front and rear sensors, and all are working as designed." Please see attached PDF of the service department's official printout. But I have had the same repeating issue since, most recently, last week. Something must be wrong with these technicians. Last year I had the front passenger window whistling sound issue, and technicians said after driving the Palisade that nothing was wrong with it and everything was working as designed. Time after, Hyundai issued a recall because of this issue! I don't trust the service department, and driving this car with a faulty sensor is a concern. Please advise, as the warranty period might be almost over, and I don't know what else to try. We barely use this car; while not in use, it's parked inside a garage and, when used, is for road trips.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS

I approached the intersection slowly and stopped completely to turn right. There were a couple of vehicles in front of mine. I pushed the 'Auto Hold' button while waiting on the Red light. A second later, I felt the car moving on its own and stepped on the brakes. The car did not stop and went forward and crashed into the vehicle in front of me. My vehicle did not stop after the initial collision and accelerated more on its own and went forward. I pushed the 'Park' button to stop the car but it did not work and the vehicle kept moving forward fast and hit another car. It still kept moving fast until it hit other things. The car stopped after it went through a wire fence and hit a tree. The brake did not work at all. The car never stopped once it started moving on its own. Forward collision warning never came when it was approaching the first vehicle in front of mine on its own. The 'check engine' light was on for 3 days and disappeared on its own about 1 month prior to the accident. I tried to take it to the service center immediately but the earliest appointment I could get was in June. The service adviser at Hyundai service said there was nothing that they can do since the warning light was not on when we asked for a service check on 6/11/22.

Car was purchased new in May of 2020 and all systems worked as expected. After approx 3 months and 2000 miles the rear backup camera began to pixilate and then failed resulting in a blue screen. Went to a different dealer and they advised replacement of the camera. Returned vehicle to another dealer and they replaced the camera and it worked for about a month then pixilated and failed again. Took the car to a different dealer who checked the connections and cable and advised that the camera needed replacement again. This will be 4 Hyundai dealers that have looked at the car and camera now has a blue screen.
