The airbag sensor is on in the car. When I told the dealership they stated that the sensor is not covered under the warranty even though it was over by a fe hundred miles. None of the airbags will deploy if there is an accident. I don't see why a safety issue is not covered by the warranty. For the dealership to fix it, it is going to be over $800.

Child opened the back hatch (as instructed). The child then pressed the button to close the back hatch. Fingers were trapped at the bottom of the hatch, and the hatch “clamped” into position. The interior hatch release was not sufficiently intuitive for the chiller to remove the trim and slide the tab, resulting in the child being trapped for 10-15 minutes before help arrived.

Beginning on 04/17/2026, my vehicle began displaying multiple safety-related dashboard warnings simultaneously, accompanied by audible alerts. The warnings included the Forward Collision Safety System, Blind-Spot Monitoring, Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), Stability and Traction Control, Lane Keep Assist, and AUTO HOLD — all activating at the same time. These warnings reappeared on several occasions and were photographed with date and location data embedded in each image. My vehicle was brought to Burlington Hyundai dealership, where a repair order was opened and a loaner was provided. The car was returned without the issue being fixed. Within days, the same warnings reappeared and the situation worsened. On multiple occasions, the engine shut off completely and the transmission shifted into neutral on its own while my vehicle was being driven at approximately 20 to 40 mph. On at least one occasion, the parking brake engaged automatically without any input from the driver. A dashboard photo clearly documents the message "Engine Off! Shift to N, then start engine." These failures are a serious danger to everyone on the road. When the engine shuts off while driving, normal steering and braking ability is lost. When the parking brake engaged on its own, the car stopped abruptly with no warning. Any one of these incidents could have caused a serious accident or injury. My vehicle was returned to the dealership for a second repair visit and a second loaner was provided. The dealership confirmed via text that the car was still in the shop but never followed up with a diagnosis or timeline. When the dealership was called directly, no update was provided. As of 06/04/2026, my vehicle has been at the dealership for at least 30 days across two visits — 11 days for the first and at least 19 days for the second — with no confirmed root cause, no completed repair, and no clear communication.

I PUT MY VEHICLE IN PARK AND VEHICLE CONTINUED TO MOVE, IT MOVED OVER A CURB AND INTO A WALL. I BROUGHT VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP NEXT DAY AND THEY STATED IT WAS A GEAR CONTROL ISSUE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO GET AN ESTIMATE FOR REPAIRS AND ESTIMATE IS NEAR $7000. DEALERSHIP SAID THE PART IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND NO RECALLS. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN CHECKED BY MANUFACTURE, POLICE OR INSURANCE AS OF YET NO WARNING LAMPS OR MESSAGES WARNED ME OF A POSSIBLE GEAR FAILURE. It seems that this is an issue that is not covered by warranty and owners are held responsible with filing an insurance claim or pay out of pocket. On my vehicle I’ve had to have the horn replaced at least three times. Paying about $500 for the last two instances. While there is no formal federal recall for the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe horn specifically, it is affected by a widespread, known issue where water intrusion corrodes the horn's electrical contacts, leading to failure. Hyundai has addressed this with an extended warranty or service campaign in some regions to replace the horn. Saying this my vin # is not included in this but I can’t understand why.

The car was purchased new on June 30, 2021. On January 25, 2024 at 38,347 miles the horns failed to work and were replaced under warranty. About a week ago (c. January 24,2026) the horns again failed. The dealer was called and I was told that there was no recall on the horns and I would have to pay around $91 for the horns plus labor. The service manager told me that this is a common problem that has to do with where the horns are mounted on the vehicle. They are behind the front bumper and exposed to the elements. I feel that this is a serious design flaw and a safety issue that should be addressed by the manufacturer. There should be a recall instead of customers buying new horns every two years. Had the horns failure occurred during an emergency situation it could have resulted in an accident and possible loss of life.

I purchased my 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid brand new and in three years, both horns (high and low) have stopped working every year. I have had the horns replaced in March 2023, January 2024 and as I type this complaint, both horns are out again. It is a serious safety issue driving a vehicle without a horn. There is no warning that the horn is going to stop working; and I have discovered the malfunction while driving when I needed to alert another driver before we potentially collided. It has also been extremely inconvenient for me to take off work to take the car in for more service. What's more frustrating is I was told by a service manager that they (Hyundai USA) are aware of the defect with these particular horns but has chosen to continue to replace the defective horns with more defective horns. Now I drive an unsafe vehicle until I can take off work again to have my horns replaced with parts that will last for one year, if I'm lucky. I am asking for some assistance with this matter since it is clear that Hyundai USA has not made it a priority to solve this ongoing safety problem for all its customers who are having the same issue. Thank you.

On [XXX] at [XXX], my [XXX] daughter was locked inside my 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe (VIN: [XXX] ) while holding the Smart Key fob in the back seat. She pressed the lock button, and the vehicle completely locked — with her and the key fob still inside. This violates the Smart Key safety feature described in Hyundai’s owner’s manual, which says the car should not lock if the key is inside. That system failed. There were no warning lights or alerts. I had no way to unlock the doors. I experienced a full panic attack. I feared my child could die from heat exposure. I was forced to break the rear window to rescue her. I was terrified the glass might injure her, but I had no choice. Since then, I have been emotionally traumatized and avoid driving out of fear it will happen again. To my knowledge, this has not yet been inspected by a dealer or Hyundai. I am reporting this because the Smart Key locking system failed in a dangerous way that put my child’s life at risk. This system should be investigated for defect. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The car horn failed to work when I went to use it around April 20, 2025. I first noticed it while stopped at a traffic light and the car in front of me failed to advance for several seconds at the green light. Then I noticed a car drifting over the line in oncoming traffic and was unable to use the horn to alert the driver. As I drive with my toddler granddaughter in the car, I needed the vehicle fixed ASAP. My independent car mechanic had to replace 2 horns (Hi tone Horn and Lo Tone Horn). Today I came to know of a Hyundai Forum and did a search on car horns. Apparently, this is a known failure for many years. Some owners have had the horn replaced as many as 3 times. I since have requested reimbursement from Hyundai, but they refused because I didn't take it to a Hyundai dealership. There were no warning lamps or messages.

The horn on this. vehicle has been replaced 4 times in 2.5 years. It has failed and on three occasions I nearly hit a pedestrian and other vehicles. I asked my service representative, John King, of Lia Hyundai in Albany NY if there is a recall on this issue. He said no. I researched this problem and found that this is a widespread problem with Hyundai. I feel strongly that eventually someone will be seriously injured or worse in Hyundai does not recognize this problem.

I attempted to sound the horn and it failed to sound. I have experienced this problem 2 times previously. The dealer replaced it the 1st time when the vehicle had about 18000 miles. The 2nd time they did not even note it on a service report but when the vehicle was returned to me after an oil change it was working. I contacted the dealer this time because the vehicle is no longer in warranty and requested they repair the horns for free. I was told they would have to get clearance from Hyundai. I noticed that Hyundai issued a TSB 23-BE-009H for the Hyundai Venue for this same problem. The horns on the Santa Fe are mounted low behind the front bumper which subjects them to water from the road when it rains, as it does often, here in Louisiana. I am forced to drive a vehicle without a horn to warn other drivers.

I have a 2022 santa fe xrt within the 1st yr of owing in 2022 the horn stopped working in the winter. Went to dealership told it was known issue they replaced it. A few months later into following year still winter went out again they fixed again stating my car has 2 horns and both failed. So far 2022 and 2023 2 times. Fast forward to earlier in 2024 beginning of year horn failed again took to dealer expressed my concern of this is a safety and inconvenience issue they apologized but no recall yet. Now it's almost 2025 and I will be taking my car back to the dealership this weekend for yet another time due to the horn not working at all. I've found out my horn has not worked due to driving and a vehicle almost colliding into my lane and went to honk horn and nothing. A separate time a person has cut out in front of me almost causing an accident and all I could do is to lock up my breaks and swerve hope they see me and don't get hit could not beep to warn them. I bought the car brand new in 2022 feb and I have had the horn replaced 4 to 5 times and they still are staying no recall this is ridiculous.

On November 28 2023, I was pulling onto a small highway when an alarm went off, car stopped (engine off) as other cars were coming towards me. The message displayed was "autostop is off. Shift to P or N and start engine manually". Because the alarm was so loud and I was concerned, I snapped a picture which will be attached. I immediately pushed start button and was able to get out of the way. I had not turned the Idle Start Stop (ISS) button to off - so supposedly it was on. (You have to push this button to turn ISS off. This happened twice until I was able to get to service department. After much time (and using a loaner car) Hyundai agreed to provide a new battery because of its health. This happened again. I took the car back and the manager showed me a technical service bulletin - regarding my car - "Rough Shift and Hesitation Improved Logic". This didn't sound like Idle Start Stop bulletin but I was assured it was (attached). Though the stall has not occurred since, the ISS icon at times just isn't there. My dealer is communicating with Hyundai to try to keep my car again and provide a loaner. I am reporting this because many others on Hyundai Forums are describing the same incidents. Yet I haven't seen anyone mention the Technical Service Bulletin, even though many have taken this problem to their dealer. To me this needs to be considered for a recall. I had a daughter and grand daughter in my car and had no idea what to do with cars approaching. Fortunately, just pushing start worked. I have read the manual and know what is required for ISS to work. All requirements were net. It is possible the TSB has fixed stall issue so I am mainly reporting for other drivers.
