If this happens, the crankshaft could break and cause a sudden engine failure. A driver may hear loud noises and see warning lights on the dash immediately before the engine fails. Safety Risk: An engine failure could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a loose pulley could separate from the engine and cause damage.
