FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
The gas pedal acceleration and a cruise control came on and got stuck between 35 and 45 miles an hour time I hit the other vehicle and laying on the brakes was probably 38 to 40 miles an hour prior that I was doing 72 miles an hour and 40 miles an hour zone. How are you able to get a vehicle hitting the brakes brake and then it would help. I barely hit the other car in the cars spun out and hit other vehicles.

Last year in 2024 our vehicle started having significant issues with the transmission. We took it to a dealership and through our warranty that we purchased, we were told that the transmission control module had lost its programming but no one understood why. It wasn't covered under our warranty and we paid full price out of pocket for that. Less than a year later we are back with the same issues again where it's not holding on to its programming. It locks itself into neutral when we are driving, it will have surges of power with the battery, and no longer has any emergency braking system. We cannot put the emergency brake on in fact. We lost all of our 4x4 variations such as snow sport and four wheel drive low. Full drive is no longer able to be engaged at all with the transmission. It will not shift in or out of 5th gear which means every time we push on the gas that means it's going to be starting out in 5th gear which is obviously a strain on the transmission. Due to that it has no towing power whatsoever right now. It has shut off completely in the middle of us driving bfore. These issues are causing it to slowly lose it's communication with all of the other modules in the vehicle and the engine itself is no longer communicating with the transmission which makes driving the vehicle almost impossible.

It to Jim Browne jeep dealership they said they transmission control module needs replacement the jeep when I brake jumps forward and speeds up its unpredictable and unsafe it also does not shift into gear it slips and I did a search and see. This has been a reoccurring issue .As well as my back up camera appears while I am driving and parked ,or screen just says jeep or goes blue unable to change dash supply control at all ,this vehicle is a lemon and we were not told of any of these issues

Just rained, while driving with my family in the car. The brake and parking brake lock up the car. No accidents. But the car won't disengage the brake saying service parking brake.
NHTSA complaint #11663634 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
The electronic parking brake locked up at an intersection - only way I could get it going again was disconnect and reconnect the battery. Took to dealer and was diagnosed as the parking brake module. Dealer wanted $1900 to repair but the part was on back order for an unknown time. Removed all fuses linked to parking brake and was told to drive it - only has front wheel drive as computer thinks parking brake is on - jeep has told us that water leaks into to them and shorts them out. Not impressed as times are tough and not getting any help from Jeep. Why is there not a recall as this seems like a infection with this model?

Forbthe past gew months my 2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude had been in and out of the shop. The ebrake will set itself and not disengage. I think they have replaced everything remotely associated with the ebrake. I picked it up AGAIN yesterday afternoon, drive 3 minutes down the road, pulled into a parking space, put in park, and the ebrake came om before I even shut the vehicle off. It will not disengage. I am currently sitting beside the vehicle, waitin for the service tech to call me back yet again. I have quite literally lost count of how many times rhis vehicle has been in the shop since I got it a year and a half ago.
NHTSA complaint #11641663 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
My parking gage engaged several times while parked I saw that it said the parking breaking was engaged but I had not put it on. Next it engaged when stopped for a traffic light. I was able to restart it several times. Noticed that this was most likely to happen after a rainfall. Last time it happened my son was able to trick it into disengaging and get it home. Next day it had to be flatbed towed to my mechanic. He changed the parking break switch and that burned out again. After careful investigation he found over two gallons of water under the spare tire where the parking break module is housed. It had to be replaced as well as both calipers. The module also had to be reprogrammed. It was at there 22 days. The mechanic bill was nearly $1,800. Now I need extensive body work to perhaps stop the water coming in thru the seams underneath the power-lift door which had opened. In checking previous complaints it seems that This should have been a recall long ago as it has happened to other similar jeeps.
NHTSA complaint #11640055 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
Water in electronic parking brake module by spare tire corroded wiring causing parking brake to engage needing to replace the entire module and wiring. The issue appears to be that water may be leaking into the electronic parking brake module, causing damage and corrosion.

This morning, on the way to work, the electric parking brake module of my 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk activated when the vehicle was in motion, making it impossible to accelerate or reverse. If I had been driving on the highway or interstate, this could have been fatal. The tech who towed my car said this is a known issue, and his sister even traded in her Cherokee because of this issue. There has recently been rain in the area, and it is a known issue among 2014-2020 Jeep Cherokee owners that the emergency parking brake module corrodes due to rainfall. The tech confirmed that my electric parking module is corroded. This issue has been confirmed by the repair center, which is charging $1,300 for a repair. I have reached out to Mopar, the manufacturer, to complain. This is a widespread, known-issue among Jeep owners, and there's currently a class action lawsuit against Jeep regarding this issue. There were no warning signs before the parking break activated. This needs to be a Jeep Cherokee recall.

1* The electric Emergency Brake. 2* The E brake engages while I am driving and causes the car to abruptly stop almost causing the car behind me to rear end my car. 3* No, it just started, it happened 2 times yesterday 5/1/24. 4* No 5* Not that I am aware of.
NHTSA complaint #11586592 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
2nd time, I did not put auto brake on but it engaged itself and than was stuck and would not disengage. Luckily I was not in traffic, because that could have been a serious safety issue. The e brake engages on its own and than won’t dislodge. Multiple times this has happened now. Took it in once and paid almost $1500 to get it repaired, 3 days later same thing happened again!
NHTSA complaint #11585618 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
My vehicle dashboard gave me a "service park brake" message. The emergency brake would automatically engage if attempting to shift the car into park. The emergency brake could not be disengaged. The vehicle was towed to a Jeep dealership. The dealership has determined that the "park brake module connector" and surrounding wires have corroded due to water intrusion. They told me the car is considered unsafe as if it were to be driven the e-brake could engage at any moment. They also determined there is water leaking into that area of the car i.e. the rear left cargo area where the brake module sits. My online research has determined this is a common issue, and Jeep has not had a recall or notices about it. The water leaking could come from the sun/moon roof or the wheel well. Please visit this link and others like it to see that many people are having this issue with no long-term solution per the manufacturer. Some people have reported multiple failures of the park brake module on the same vehicle with the repair costing $1k+ each time. The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the emergency automatic braking independently engaged. The contact stated that the vehicle did not stop however, there was an excessively hard jerk that occurred. The vehicle was driven to the destination without the failure reoccurring. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.

1) PARKING BRAKE MODULE - Water Intrusion has caused the parking brake to malfunction, turning itself on and sometimes getting stuck in the on postion. I paid $700 to have it replaced and it went bad again with the same error code...Water Intrusion. Dealer wants to charge me to fix it again eventhough there is a Service Bulletin #08-060-16 out for this issue. 2) Power Liftgate Module - Still waiting on a fix for this from FCA. Last update was 5/23. Now my liftgate is malfunctioning. When I press any of the four ways to open the liftgate it will only go up halfway. I have to push it up the rest of the way. Then when I press it to close it will not close on its own. I have to manually close it. I called 2 dearlerships and they have no solution. One said they couldn't even look at it for 2 weeks. The other said 3 months! This is totally unacceptable!

Had to have our 2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited towed in on 10/11/2019 Parking break will not shut off, stuck will not move. Same problem happening again December 2023!!!!!!!! 2019 Dealership repairs: Cause: Water intrusion into the EPB Module & Connector. Replaced fuses checked module & found when disconnected that the module & harness were both green & corroded. New module & connector with new wires required to repair. Removed & replaced module, cut off old wires & wired all new wiring to a new connector, new connector has weather pack insulators around wiring to protect from moisture intrusion. Reconfigured new module parking break now works & was able to release rear breaks. $919.14 Cost As of today January 6, 2024 the Jeep is still currently in the garage with the SAME EXACT ISSUE. Apparently this is going to be an ongoing issue. Now I am going to have to pay another $900.. This also is a SECURITY RISK! NO SECURITY RISK SHOULD EVER BE OVERLOOKED!!

The electronic parking brake module was damaged due and corroded, due to water, leading to the Jeep being unable to disengage the parking brake. The module is located in the rear of the trunk and no other signs of water were present when inspected. All of the Jeeps safety systems were effected by the module, the dash board had two lights indicated “P!” And “brake.” The module was replaced by CDR Fullerton in Somerville. The vehicle was inspected by Jeep in Somerville and they were able to reproduce the problem. The vehicle has never been subjected to any type of water damage before. The issue started while driving on a local road when the ebrake automatically engaged resulting in loss of power. After pulling over and starting restarting the car I was able to drive the car home. However, the problem reoccurred many times and we were unable to use the car until the dealership was able to fix it.

In the spring of 2021 my parking break and break light illuminated on my dash, my electronic emergency break would not disengage nor would my vehicle move in drive or reverse. After bringing my vehicle to a local mechanic, they diagnosed the issue that the EPB (electronic break module) which is located inside the rear end of the vehicle was corroded from water damage. (See attached images)
NHTSA complaint #11494330 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while her son was driving at 30-40 MPH, the electronic braking system engaged inadvertently and the vehicle stopped. The electronic braking system (EBS) warning light was illuminated. The vehicle failed to shift into gears. The dealer was notified of the failure and provided step by step instructions on disengaging the electronic parking brake on the center display. The contact was then able to drive the vehicle to the dealer who overrode the electronic parking brake system. The dealer diagnosed that the furnace and the electronic parking brake module needed to be replaced. However, the electronic parking brake module replacement part was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
