Seatbelt failure in a 2021 Jeep Cherokee at approximately 80,000 miles. The seatbelt is not functioning properly and does not operate as intended, creating a safety concern. The issue was diagnosed by the dealership, who confirmed the seatbelt failure and stated repairs are needed. I was quoted $522 for the repair, and only partial goodwill assistance has been offered. Despite this being a critical safety component, I have not been provided a loaner or rental vehicle while the repair is expected to take 5–10 days. This leaves me without safe transportation. I am concerned about the safety risk of a failed seatbelt and the lack of full support for a safety-related defect

I fastened seatbelt. It retracted, but heard a rolling noise, which sounded like a can or bottle rolling in the floor behind me. Paid no attention to it and forgot about it. Next time I drove the Jeep, it happened again, so I got home and checked. There was nothing there to make that noise. Another short drive and I realized the seat belt wouldn't tighten, even though I attempted to tighten it some. Reading online, I found a suggestion to pull it out, release it slowly and listen for the racheting sound. It does not make the sound so I checked passenger side to see if it was different. Passenger side does rachet as the belt is slowly released. I've been wearing my seatbelt religeously since 1964, when one saved my life. I panic without it!

Passenger seat belts closest two both driver side and passenger side in the back seat do not lock properly. We tried to vacuum it clean and blow compressed air in it to clean it out but still not working. We took it to a local jeep dealer and they confirmed they would need to be replaced but only the extended warranty covers $599 (we owe $386). This should be an automatic safety hazard because I have a child who sits there and a pet who gets tethered there. If an accident was to occur and injured either of them, that would be grounds for a lawsuit. The car is treated the same as my sedan and it has no seatbelt issues.

The contact's grandson owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the passenger’s side front seat belt failed to lock as designed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the seat belt needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000. The VIN was not available.

Without any notice my drivers side seatbelt won't retract. Not even a little. It is completely useless. When I looked online I saw that so many people were having this issue that there was possibly going to be a recall/repair. I tried several times to get it to retract even a little but it won't at all.

Indicator lights are shown on dash include gas cap, seat belt and engine. All gear lights display red when driving and states to service shifter. Dash displays service engine soon. Service air bag system. Seat belt will constantly ding even though it is buckled and will not stop dinging. Replaced gas cap, but indicator light continues to display on dash. Strongly believe there are electrical issues causing theses defects. Took to local dealership and they performed an update, but the indicator lights started to display again the following day, along with the constant dinging from the vehicle not being able to sensor the seat belt being buckled. This has been happening for over a year now and no one seems to be acknowledging there is an extreme safety concern with this vehicle. Strongly believe it is due to the fact of being at fault and not wanting to correct the defects without compensation. Plus there is an abnormal sound when accelerating since these issues began and are continuous. If you’re an attorney reading this, please find me through my vin #. I’m tired of dealing with these issues and willing to take legal action to resolve these issues. Will never buy a Jeep again. Thanks.

The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph and crossing an intersection, he crashed into another vehicle head-on. The contact stated the air bags did not deploy and the driver-side seat belt did not retract. The contact sustained injuries on his chest due to hitting the steering wheel and had bruises/swelling on his right foot. The contact sought medical attention at a nearby hospital. The contact stated the other driver was taken by an ambulance but was unaware of their injuries. A police report was filed. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle and stated he saw smoke from the engine due to the antifreeze leaking. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed to his residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.

For the passed few months (beginning Sept 2022), my cars temperature gauge inside shows that its running hot even when there is coolant present. When checking the coolant prior to taking off the cap, the conatiner looks empty. However, when i take off the cap there is a gurgling noise and the container refills on its own. Unfortunately. I've had to add coolant to my car every 5-10 days to make sure it stays full because it constantly says it's hot, all the way to the H. Since then there have been a list of other issues: 1. heat has randomly stopped working and the check engine light has come on. 2. Error message saying automatic stop/start is unavailable and service stop/start 3. Lots of jerking when pressing the gas petal to accelerate and you can hear the gears trying to move, but it gets stuck at 1 number and then a hard jerk 4. Ticking/knocking sound when driving (started 1/1/23) 5. When using the dash screen, it randomly blanks out and I am unable to see/hear until I restart the car 6. Seatbelts lock when trying to put them on after starting the car. The belts will not move and it cannot be put on until after I move the car in reverse/drive.

Initially started with parking brake coming on and it took 15 mins of pushing and pulling the button/switch and turning car on and off. Then service air bags light came on. Next was saying passenger and driver seat belts not buckled even tho both were buckled. Then abs light came on. Mechanic determined it was OCR sensor located under center console. Apparently can only get part from jeep and its $400. Ordered and the Jeep wont recognize it so replacement had to be ordered. Now tire pressure light is on as well. Says front driver and rear passenger are low even tho all tires are at 34psi. The seat belt dinging is constant even tho belts are buckled. I have no cruise control. Over past 2 weeks have had the parking brake issue twice. The rest of issues are constant. So now driving around waiting on part with constant worry my parking brake will engage. Other issues are inconvenient and annoying but the brake and airbags are saftey issues. Also my odometer blinks constant too.

VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN IT LEFT THE ROAD. I SWERVED TO MISS A DOG. I HAD MY SEATBELT ON DURING THIS ACCIDENT HOWEVER MY HEAD (TOP, RIGHT FRONT OF MY HEAD) HIT THE WINDSHIELD GLASS AND THE GLASS BROKE/SHATTERED. MY HAIR WAS CAUGHT IN THE BROKEN CRACKS OF THE GLASS ON THE WINDSHIELD AND MY HAIR WAS PULLED OUT OF MY HEAD, I GUESS WHEN THE SEATBELT PULLED ME BACK INTO POSITION IT MANAGED TO KEEP MY HAIR LODGED. I GOT SMALL PIECES OF GLASS OUT OF MY SCALP FOR A WEEK. I HAD OTHER INJURIES AS WELL. EVERY SINGLE AIRBAG OF THIS CAR WAS DEPLOYED AND MY VEHICLE A TOTAL LOSS. I WAS ONLY GOING AROUND 45 MPH. I AM THANKFUL TO BE HERE SHARING THIS PASSAGE. I JUST HAVE TRIED TO FIGURE OUT HOW I MANAGED TO HIT THE WINDSHIELD WHILE MY SEATBELT WAS ON MY BODY AND THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.*DT

THE STOCK SEAT BELTS LOCATED IN THE REAR SEAT OF THE VEHICLE DO NOT LOCK IN ORDER TO PROPERLY AND SAFELY INSTALL CHILD SAFETY SEATS. THIS IS NOT A ONE TIME THING AS THEY WILL NOT SECURE AFTER BEING FULLY EXTENDED. I HAVE ALREADY CONTACTED A DEALER AFTER FINDING AN OLD RECALL BUT WAS TOLD THEY WOULD NOT FIX AS THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT I WAS SPEAKING OF.

RECENTLY MY SON WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT DIFFICULTY BUCKLING HIS SEAT BELT. UPON INSPECTION, I NOTICED THAT HIS SEAT BELT WAS FRAYED IN SEVERAL PLACES. IT IS NOW FRAYED HALF WAY THROUGH THE WIDTH. I THOUGHT MAYBE HE WAS BEING TO ROUGH WITH THE SEATBELT, UNTIL I NOTICED MY OLDER SONS SEATBELT WAS DOING THE SAME THING. TO AVOID USING THE SEATBELTS FURTHER, I HAVE HAD TO MOVE MY YOUNGEST SON TO THE MIDDLE AND MY OLDEST TO THE FRONT PASSENGER.*DT CONSUMER STATED SHE WAS NOT SURE IF THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE WIRING.

WHILE PICKING UP MY OLDEST CHILD FROM SCHOOL, MY THREE YEAR OLD TODDLER REACHED THE SHOULDER SAFETY BELT LOCATED IN THE CENTER SEAT (NEXT TO HER CAR SEAT ON THE DRIVER SIDE) AND IT GOT WRAPPED AROUND HER NECK AND NEARLY STRANGLED HER. MY CHILD YELLED FOR HELP. I GOT OUT OF THE DRIVERS SEAT AND RAN TO HER AID AND IMMEDIATELY PUT MY FINGERS BETWEEN HER NECK AND THE BELT. I SCREAMED FOR HELP. SEVERAL ADULTS CAME TO AID AND THE SEATBELT WOULD NOT LET UP. EVERY MOVEMENT AND ATTEMPT MADE TO GET IT TO RELEASE MADE THE BELT TIGHTEN EVEN MORE AROUND MY CHILD'S NECK. THE SEATBELT HAD TO BE CUT IN ORDER TO STOP THE HORRIBLE SITUATION THAT OCCURRED. THE CAR WAS IN PARK WHEN THIS OCCURRED. MY CHILD HAD NECK SWELLING AND SOME BRUISING FROM THE INCIDENT. HAD MY CHILD BEEN NON VERBAL AND NOT ABLE TO GET MY ATTENTION, THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT CHANCE SHE WOULD HAVE DIED. THERE IS NO REASON A TODDLER SHOULD BE ABLE TO REACH THE SHOULDER STRAP WHILE IN HER CAR SEAT HARNESSED. THE SEATBELT WOULD NOT LET GO. IT REMAINED LOCKED AND WITH EVERY MOVEMENT OF MY CHILD (MY CHILD WAS PANICKING AND MOVING) IT WOULD TIGHTEN FURTHER. A CHILD THAT AGE DOES NOT KNOW OF THE DANGERS OF SEATBELTS AND THERE NEEDS TO BE A SAFETY PRECAUTION IN PLACE FOR THIS KIND OF SITUATION. I BELIEVE THE SEATBELT IS DEFECTIVE AND EVEN SO THERE SHOULD BE SOME SORT OF RELEASE BUTTON FOR THE MIDDLE SHOULDER STRAP.

STARTING AT 25K MILES, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO BURN THROUGH OIL EVEN BEFORE THE NEXT OIL CHANGE. THE MANUAL STATES TO GO OFF THE OIL SYSTEM LIGHT, DEALERS SAY DIFFERENT. OIL HAD 14% LEFT, BUT THE CAR KEPT SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. WENT TO DEALER, CAR BURNED THROUGH ALL THE OIL. THEY REFUSED TO CHECK FOR ENGINE DAMAGE AND FORCE ME TO PAY FOR A FULL OIL CHANGE. STATED BY THE DEALER, ITS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH JEEP AND THERE IS NO FIX FOR IT. NOW AT 33K, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, CYLINDER 4 MISFIRE. COIL PACK NEEDS REPLACED. THIS IS A TSB THAT WAS POSTED AT DEALERS BUT NOT GIVEN TO CONSUMERS. ALSO AIRBAG CONNECTION UNDER DRIVER SEAT COMES LOOSE AND CAUSES WARNING LIGHTS TO SERVICE AIRBAG. 10K MILES. DEALER SAID TO PLUG BACK IN AND JUST KEEP DEALING WITH IT.
