On 7/17/2026 I was involved in a motor vehicle crash resulting in damage to both my Jeep Wagoneer and the other vehicle. I was informed that I have a recall on my Electronic brake assist and the brake system control module for my Wagoneer today August 6th, 2026. I'm wondering if the faulty brake system control module contributed to the crash. I am unable to complete the recall repairs until after my wagnoeer is repaired after the resulting motor vehicle crash. I had no prior warning, messages, or problems prior to the failure. Also to note--I hit my head on my side driver door and sustained significant impact to the front fender wheel (driver side) and my air bags did not deploy. The resulting damages to my car are estimated at $19,000

The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Wagoneer. The contact stated that after driving over a train track, several messages were displayed on the instrument panel. The steering and brakes warning lights were illuminated. While driving at undisclosed speeds, the warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle shut off unexpectedly. The vehicle was restarted and driven to the residence; however, the failure reoccurred. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

While driving the breaks faultered and I had to slam on the break. I had to press all the way down on the break pedal to slow down or stop. Also when stopped at a light the car turns off and puts itself in park. I had to turn the car off and back on again to fix it. My safety and the safety of others was at risk due to chance of a significant car crash due to faulty break system. I had a near miss accident due to this reason. I will be calling the car dealership to tow the car to have it inspected. The ABS light came on as well as check engine light. Service power steering light also came on.

Travelling with my young daughter on the Freeway at Freeway speeds at 9pm (nighttime). The entire vehicle just shut down. EVERYTHING - completely dark. Steering went out. Brakes went out. I had to get the car to basically drift to a shoulder and slow down gradually in a spot where we would be safely out of the way of traffic. Again no brakes or steering and completely dead. Hazzard lights would not work. I had to get the car towed and get my daughter and all of our stuff out of the car on the freeway at night in the complete dark. Scary stuff. It's an expensive car and 2022 is the first model year of the Grand Wagoneer. I suspect based on my experience with this car that this model year will have these types of problems going forward. The car has had electrical issues from day 1 and its unsurprising this happened. What is surprising is just how dangerous the situation was when you were in it. It was a shocking experience.

Late last year I reported that while towing a trailer, the dash indicated that the trailer had disconnected from the trailer as looking back I noticed the lights were off when the vehicle lights were on. Before I could pull over to check the connection, the lights turned back on and the warning light extinguished. This happened 3 times when towing the trailer that day. The dealership "reprogrammed" the module and said it was good. But after the latest recall for the Wagoneer, having it recalled, I wanted to notify someone about the potential for expanding the vehicles included in the recall.

The vehicle in question, has been to a certified jeep dealer twice, to remedy the problem of locking axles and the center differential. The remedy by Crown CDJR in Columbus OH, was to replace the control module. Performance CDJR of Gorgesville /Columbus OH had removed the center differential/transfer case for an inspection and performed updates. None of the aforementioned warranty work, fixed the problem. The vehicle has intermittent, apparent drivetrain differential locking issues, that require an ignition cycle. In addition, the electronic limited slip rear axle appears to lock near 75% in Auto and Snow Mode, which renders the vehicle's operation unsafe. This is especially apparent in 25 to 45 MPH turns, sharp turns, as when merging from one intersection to a perpendicular other roadway. The car wants to go straight on slippery/wet pavement. On the 25th of November, a video was taken, by chance, when the vehicle was merging onto Easton Way from the off ramp of 270 North. The vehicle / car had a near miss of colliding with the concrete barrier of the Easton Way bridge. The vehicle is, in its current state, unsafe! The drivetrain growls and grinds while driving at low speeds. Performance CDJR of Gorgesville Columbus OH admitted, on the record , via audio recording, that the vehicle is defective, but eventually, after three weeks in their service department released, the vehicle to my pregnant wife, as operating as intended.

This issue happened 3 times in a matter of 2 months. All 3 happened in 3 different intersections. While turning left in the intersection (oncoming traffic also turning left) the vehicle jerks to a full stop in the middle of the intersection with a "Crash Detected" message flashing on the dashboard screen. The vehicle stayed in DRIVE and continued to drive after full stop the first 2 incidents. On the 3rd incident, the vehicle stopped completely, and would not continue to drive. The vehicle had to be put into park (even though it said it was in drive but did not drive) and put into drive again to continue moving. Other vehicles driving behind the Grand Wagoneer were required to slam on brakes to prevent impact of the Grand Wagoneer and had to wait for the Grand Wagoneer to begin driving again. Unable to drive this vehicle due to safety issues. The vehicle is currently in the shop under investigation.

I pulled out of my driveway, began to drive, reached 10 mph, then came to a full brake, causing tires to screech. The speed of traffic behind me was approx 25mph.

The contact depressed the brake pedal to slow the vehicle however, the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard. The contact was able to stop the vehicle. The contact drove the vehicle back to the residence and the vehicle was later towed to the local dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. I have a 2024 jeep grand wagoneer. It has been activating it's emergency braking system randomly while driving. One time it was on a road with a 55mph speed limit the car beeped and slammed on the brakes. Morning sunny no traffic car was clean and free of dirt. Second time was on a 2 lane road speed limit 35 day light car beeped and slamed on the brakes the behind me had to go into oncoming lane to avoid hitting me. The 3rd time was after leaving the dealership after the 4th time in for service for them trying to figure out why the truck is doing this. Was on the cross street from the 2nd time. This time it high lighted a mail box in the night-vision mode and slammed on the brakes again day light no traffic car was clean. Mail box wasn't hanging in the road. We opened a case with FCA for a buy back they denied it. FCA also has not issued a stop drive order. We are currently using my wife's car to transport the kids as we do not feel comfortable with the issue not being resolved with FCA. My wife has the same truck hers is having the same issue but not slamming on the brakes hers is in currently with jeep engineering and they want us to record the car when it actives the system with our phones while driving. We feel very unsafe driving the cars and is hoping NHTSA can step in with some help. At the end of the day we are both trading our less than 1 yr old trucks in for another brand and is losing around 30,000 between the 2 vehicles.

On 2/23/2022, owner struck a medium sized pothole. The vehicle lit up several warning lights (ABS, traction control, etc.) as well as the check engine light. At this time, the driver applied the brakes and they went to the floor. Driver was able to coast into a roundabout and eventually into a parking lot and got the vehicle stopped. Upon shutdown and re-start, the vehicle had brakes again. Vehicle was taken to dealer on 2/23/22 and returned on 2/25/22. Several updates were programmed and battery was replaced. On 3/5/22 driver hit a medium sized pothole on a major interstate at 65 mph and the same thing happened. Luckily traffic was very light as the time and driver was able to exit the freeway and coast to a stop. The car was brought to the dealer again on 3/7/22 where it remains to this day.

WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE DRIVER THAT THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS.
