The worst model year for it is 2016.
Front crash with no airbag deployment and no emergency braking. Currently at The Metal Shop in Warm Springs Va. Told by insurance it is totaled. Sustained mild concussion from head trauma. Head hit steering wheel. I notice many Sprinters for sale for parts after similar front end collisions. No warning lights.
NHTSA complaint #11751770 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
On [XXX], I purchased a new 2022 Mercedes Benz Winnebago Adventure Wagon (“RV”) from La Mesa RV located in Phoenix, AZ. Prior to purchase, while doing research online, it came to my attention that there was an NHTSA Safety Recall for this particular year/model that affected wires under the seat and potential Airbag deployment. (NHTSA Part 573 Safety Recall Report #24V-318). Once I learned of the safety recall, I contacted the dealer on September 21 to determine if this particular vehicle was part of the recall and/or if it has been repaired. On September 23, a representative from La Mesa RV contacted me and assured me this specific vehicle was not part of the recall and does not require a repair. After purchasing the RV, I contacted Winnebago directly to inquire about the warranty and any pending recalls, specifically NHTSA #24V-318. The representative from Winnebago confirmed that this specific RV (verified by VIN) was in fact part of the recall and should have been repaired by the dealer prior to sale. On November 6, 2024, I emailed the manager at La Mesa RV to report the misinformation provided by them and requesting immediate remedy. The manager nor any representative from La Mesa RV responded to address this issue. La Mesa RV appeared to ignore the safety recall and sold a new vehicle to me without repairing a known issue. They have not offered any remedy or correction. Dealer contact info: La Mesa RV, 7525 W. McDowell Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85035. Thank you for your attention to this matter. NHTSA complaint #11627346 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
Front Left Malfunction Warning Light came on randomly one day. There was an airbag symbol that appeared on the dash as well. The vehicle has not been in any collisions. Mercedes USA says seatbelt components are warranted against defects in workmanship and materials for 10 years, regardless of mileage. I called Mercedes USA and now they say it is not covered because we are past mileage limit and because we are past 3 years and don't have an extended warranty, they won't cover repair. Others have had this issue too listed on Sprinter-Forum where they have diagnosed it's from a cheap connector on the seats and unplugging the harness, adding dielectric grease, reset light, replace seatbelt solves the problem. This fix takes 30 minutes and they charge over $800 to repair. This seatbelt is original to the vehicle and if it's malfunctioning, this is a safety issue that should be addressed and covered for replacement or reimbursement if repairs have already been made. Some have noted that the shape of the seatbelt connector connection is causing this issue. Please keep me informed of progress with this. We will be paying $800 to fix this issue.

The contact owns a 2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500. The contact stated that after repositioning the swiveling driver's seat, the seat became jammed. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V410000 (Electrical System, Air Bags) but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 20,000.

The wiring harness under my front passenger swivel seat became pinched and severed the wires. The air bag warning light came on. I took the vehicle to the dealer and got it fixed at my own expense. I noticed the recall #21V410000 which is for the same thing, however my van was not included. Can my van be included so I can be reimbursed by the mfg? NHTSA complaint #11526686 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
This vehicle has factory installed swivel seats. When we were parked, we swiveled the seats around to use the table and then back prior to driving again. When we tried to move the seat closer to the steering wheel, the electric seats did nothing and upon inspection, realized the fuse had blown for the power seats. We replace the fuse and drove a little ways and swiveled the seat again to test it and this time the seat binded up on something. Upon further inspection, we noted several bare wires caught up in the swivel mechanism underneath the driver side seat. When we tried to start the car again the windshield wipers were going off on their own , the airbag sensors were lit and nothing seem to be working quite right. The vehicle was shut off and again found several wires that were bare and were touching and found additional blown fuses. After investigating online to see if there was an open recall for this vehicle, we found that the 2019 2020 and 2021 sprinter vans had a very similar issue with the wiring under the swivel seat that caused airbag deployment. I have only had this vehicle for five days and it is now at the dealer. The dealer told me it could possibly be a six-month wait if they have to replace the vehicle wiring harness and we were informed by the 800MB number that there were no open recalls for this specific vehicle. I don’t understand how this could not be part of an open recall if it was previously reported in the 2019 2020 and 2021 models with swivel seats, and mine is a 2021.

Had a service call to repair recall items. Technician forgot to install bolts holding the transmission which led to multiple light alerts. Could have been dangerous for driver.

WE RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL (NHTSDA #19V004) INDICATING THE PASSENGER-SIDE AIRBAG IS AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL BASED ON THE DEFECT DECISION OF TK HOLDINGS, INC. ("TAKATA"). AT THE TIME WE WERE BATTLING CANCER AND THE CORONA VIRUS, SO WE DID NOT GET IT SERVICED AND IT REMAINED IN THE STORAGE. IN THE MEANTIME WE RECEIVED NUMEROUS CALLS TO BRING IT IN FOR SERVICE, BUT DID NOT HAVE THE TIME TO GET IT OUT OF STORAGE AND DRIVE 400 MILES TO GET THE RECALL FIXED. NOW THAT WE HAVE THE TIME, WE CALLED MERCEDES DEALER AND MAIN COMPANY, BUT THEY INDICATE THE RECALL DISAPPEARED EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE A LETTER AND RECEIVED MANY CALLS PRIOR TO GET IT CHANGED OUT. THE LETTER INDICATES "THE DEFECT IN YOUR PASSENGER-SIDE AIRBAG INFLATOR MAY CAUSE THE INFLATOR HOUSING TO RUPTURE.A PASSENGER-SIDE INFLATOR RUPTURE DURING DEPLOYMENT COULD RESULT IN METAL FRAGMENTS STRIKING THE FRONT PASSENGER OR OTHER OCCUPANTS, POSSIBLY CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH." SO WE ARE CONCERNED. HOW DID MERCEDES MAKE THIS DISAPPEAR WITHOUT CORRECTING THE PROBLEM?

HELLO ALL, I AM CURRENTLY DRIVING WITH A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG. I HAVE BEEN CONTACTED BY THE DAIMLER VANS RECALL RESOLUTION TEAM. THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST SPRINTER REPAIR CENTER FOR THE BAG TO BE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. I EXPLAINED THAT THE NEAREST SERVICE CENTER WAS ST LOUIS MO WHICH HAPPENS TO BE OVER 100 MILES AWAY FROM MY HOME. I ASKED IF THEY COULD SEND SOMEONE TO CHANGE IT AT MY LOCATION, SINCE THIS WOULD TAKE ME AWAY FROM WORK FOR A DAY TO DO THIS. THEY RESPONDED NO I WOULD NEED TO HAVE IT TOWED AT MY EXPENSE TO THERE LOCATION FOR SERVICING. MERCEDES & SPRINTER SHARE THE SAME HOOD ORNAMENT, BUT SPRINTER SERVICE IS REQUIRE AT SPECIFIC SERVICING LOCATIONS. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME RESOLVE THIS MATTER ASAP . I HAVE BEEN RIDING WITH THIS AIRBAG NOT KNOWING IF IT WILL ACCIDENTALLY DISCHARGE WHILE I AM DRIVING. THANK YOU.

TAKATA RECALL: FOR 25 YEARS WE HAVE HAD A SERIES OF MOTOR HOMES THAT WE USED FOR WEEKEND TRIPS AND LONGER VACATIONS. WE BOUGHT OUR CURRENT RV (WHICH IS OUR THIRD ONE) AS A NEW VEHICLE IN EARLY 2013. IT IS A WINNEBAGO VIEW THAT IS ON A 2013 MERCEDES SPRINTER CHASSIS (VIN: XXXX). WE ARE VERY DISSATISFIED WITH MERCEDES BENZ AND WITH OUR VEHICLE WHICH HAS A LONG-STANDING RECALL FOR THE TAKATA AIRBAGS. MERCEDES HAS ALREADY REPLACED OUR DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG, BUT AFTER MANY MONTHS WE ARE STILL ON A WAITING LIST FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. OUR DEALER, TYSINGER MERCEDES IN VIRGINIA, IS UNABLE TO TELL US WHEN OUR DEFECTIVE AIRBAG WILL BE REPLACED. THIS VEHICLE WAS INTENDED TO BE THE SOURCE OF MANY TRIPS FOR US DURING OUR RETIREMENT. AFTER WORKING FOR NEARLY 50 YEARS INCLUDING A MILITARY CAREER, WE ARE STUCK WITH A VERY EXPENSIVE VEHICLE THAT HAS A FATAL SAFETY FLAW AND WE ARE EFFECTIVELY DENIED OF THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO ON THE TRIPS THAT WE SO EAGERLY ANTICIPATED. WE REJECT MERCEDES' EXPLANATIONS: --THE STATE THAT THEY HAVE NOT SEEN ANY TAKATA-RELATED INJURIES IN THEIR VEHICLES, IMPLYING THAT INCIDENTS ARE ALL BUT IMPOSSIBLE FOR MERCEDES VEHICLES. BUT NHTSA HAS DETERMINED THAT TAKATA AIRBAGS ARE DEFECTIVE AND THE INFLATORS COULD EXPLODE CAUSING INJURY OR DEATH. MERCEDES LEGAL LIABILITY IS THE PRIMARY REASON THAT MERCEDES DECIDED TO REPLACE THEM. --WE HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT IF WE WERE TO EXPERIENCE AN AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT THAT WE WOULD MOVE TO THE TOP OF THE LIST FOR REPLACEMENT, EVIDENCE THAT PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. --THEY HAVE STATED THAT THEY ARE SUBJECT TO MANUFACTURE, BUT THIS PIPELINE BELONGS TO THEM. --THEY HAVE STATED THAT THEY ARE TAKING STEPS TO MINIMIZE CUSTOMER INCONVENIENCE BUT SHOW NO INTEREST IN KEEPING US INFORMED. WE WANT MERCEDES TO REPAIR THIS DANGEROUS AIRBAG OR TO COMPENSATE US FOR THE LOSS OF THIS VEHICLE.
