The worst model year for it is 2000.
While driving North on I79 in dayligh I attempted to engage adaptive cruse control. The indicator lights on the dashboard were too dim to be visible and I was unable to tell if cruise control was on or determine what the speed setting was. After successfully engaging the control using buttons on the steering wheel the truck began accellerating strongly. I was unable to tell what the speed setting was but it must have been in excess of 80 mph as I had to turn the control off at that point. I returned truck to dealer and was told that lack of brightness for this indicator (and several others, such as turn signal indicators) was a design issue and could not be repaired by the dealer. I have tried every remidy I could find, even had the dealer's sales person take pictures of the dash while driving to verify the issue.

On the evening of April 22, 2026, my 2024 Nissan frontier with approximately 7600 miles on it had an electrical fire in the front driver side fog lamp housing. My vehicle has a manufacturer warranty of 36,000 miles or 36 months. I received a denial letter for honoring the warranty by Nissan consumer affairs on May 18, 2026. I believe this is a known issue dating back to at least 2022 to current models. There are individuals posting their experiences on social media. Nissan has not provided a written report for the inspection by their investigative inspection team. I don’t understand their refusal to honor my warranty.

lighting is not sufficient for seeing far enough ahead on low beam and high beam is more like regular, when turning there is hardly any lighting within the turn making it dangerous in my opinion. i recommend slowing almost to stop before making a turn especially to the right.also i have had to get my right headlight repaired by nissan within the first 2 months of purchase in july and august of 2024. the right headlight went completely out both times. the lighting on my vehichle is terrible also i notice the breaking is not that great as it takes to long to come to complete stop with normal braking pressure...i also do not like the auto idle when coming to a stop as if you have to accelerate quickly it causes a hesitation. could be bad in an emergency type situation

We have a fleet of 2023-2025 Nissan Frontiers. Starting in December of 2024 we began having problems with the vehicles electrical system going wild and shutting the trucks down. It causes all of the lights to come on and the truck to stall and not restart, We did not realize that we had a problem until it happened to multiple vehicles over the last several months. A few of them were brought to the dealership where we were told they could not find any problems and just replaced the batteries. So, when some of the others did it, we just replaced the batteries ourselves. This week asked again if there was a known issue and were told Nissan only knows of a battery drain issue. These vehicles are shutting down sometimes while our people are driving them. They also try to restart themselves sometimes. They are automatically applying the breaks when this happens wile the ABS light comes on. This is an extremely dangerous situation for our fleet drivers as well as the motoring public. It has happened to 10 of the 15 Frontiers that we own.

I am reporting an issue with the audio head unit/touchscreen system in my truck. The unit consistently malfunctions by producing loud static noise when I increase the volume. In many instances, the radio completely shuts off or freezes, and I have to repeatedly press the on/off knob to get it working again. Sometimes it takes several tries before it functions normally. This problem creates a major distraction while driving, as I have to take my eyes off the road and manually reset the unit multiple times. This can be a safety hazard not only for me but also for others on the road. The issue has persisted despite normal use, and it seems to be a defect in the head unit itself. I am requesting that this issue be investigated for possible recall or repair coverage, as it affects both functionality and driver safety. This is not an isolated issue. After doing some research online, I found dozens of other drivers across different truck forums and complaint sites describing the exact same problem—sudden loud static, loss of audio, and needing to reset the system by cycling the power or restarting the vehicle. Many of these reports come from owners of 2021–2024 model year trucks nissan Frontiers. Car Make Model: Nissan Frontier 2022 SV Thank you.

The interior lights do not come on. We can manually turn on the light switch but it won’t come on when the doors open. We have to wiggle the front switch (middle, ceiling, between the driver and passenger) nor the rear interior light.
NHTSA complaint #11669854 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
Right daytime running lamp failed at approximately 40,000 miles. Dealer has not been contacted other than to get a price for the replacement part. Safety is compromised by vehicle being less noticeable to other drivers. No warning lamps are activated.

The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start as intended. After several attempts, the contact was able to start the vehicle, after which the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The contact also stated that when the failure occurred, the exterior lights would not function properly. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the brake light switch. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V135000 (Exterior Lighting), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 36,000.
NHTSA complaint #11609478 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
The contact owns a 2000 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the rear taillight bulb would eject from the retaining clip inside the socket of the taillight assembly. She became aware of the failure after purchasing replacement bulbs for what she thought were blown bulbs. After several failures, the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who physically held the bulb in place inside the assembly. After letting go of the bulb, the failure recurred. The local dealer and manufacturer were contacted and informed of the failure. The manufacturer notified the contact of NHTSA Campaign Number: 99V347002 (Exterior Lighting) however, the VIN was not included. The contact was then referred to NHTSA for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 168,000.

MY SIDE IMPACT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITH NO IMPACT - NO REASON IN MARCH OF 2014. SAME EXACT THING OCCURRED AGAIN IN NOVEMBER OF 2014. NISSAN TOOK RESPONSIBILITY + HAD ITEMS REPAIRED, BUT I AM CONCERNED ABOUT WHY THIS IS REPEATEDLY HAPPENING + I'M AFRAID OF IT HAPPENING AGAIN!
NHTSA complaint #10724701 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
WITH LESS THAN 500 MILES ON NEW VEHICLE, NOTICED NOT ONLY HEADLIGHTS WERE VERY DIM, BUT EXTREMELY WEAK ON DRIVER SIDE. WHEN SAFELY AT HOME, OPEN HOOD TO SEE IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM. THE WHITE PLASTIC RETAINING RING THAT HOLDS THE HEADLIGHT BULB (9007) IN THE HEADLIGHT HOUSING WAS OFF AND HANGING ON THE WIRES, AND THE HEADLIGHT BULB WAS STARTING THE COME OUT OF THE HEADLIGHT HOUSING. AFTER TALKING TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY COMPARED THE RETAINING RING TO THREE OTHER NEW, NEVER SOLD BEFORE FRONTIERS AND FOUND THIS WAS A STANDARD PART. THE RING DOES NOT MAKE A FULL 1/4 TURN TO TIGHTEN AND THE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE / FORCE TO TIGHTEN RETAINING RING EQUALED TO ALMOST NOTHING. UNKNOWN IF THIS WILL BE A CONSTANT ISSUE IN MY FUTURE OWNERSHIP OF THIS VEHICLE, BUT SINCE THIS WAS AN ISSUE ON EVERY FRONTIER ON THIS LOT, EVEN THOUGH THEY OFFERED TO REPLACE THE RING, NOTHING WOULD BE RESOLVED, IT'S AN IDENTICAL RING. A) UNKNOWN IF THIS WILL CONSTANTLY COME UNDONE ALLOWING THE BULB TO LOOSEN AND FALL OUT. B) IF THIS CONTINUES TO COME UNDONE, WATER / MOISTURE ? DIRT CAN CONSTANTLY ENTER THE HEADLIGHT HOUSING. C) IF BULB FALLS OUT AND IN USE THE HOT BULB CAN / COULD MELT THE HEADLIGHT UNIT, OR FALL ON WIRES MELTING THE MATERIAL CAUSING ELECTRICAL ISSUE. D) CONTACTED NISSAN CORPORATE WITH ANOTHER ISSUE AND THE RESPONSE WAS THEY PREFER TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP HANDLE VEHICLE CONCERNS. SO DON'T KNOW HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH NISSAN THEY HAVE A POOR PRODUCT DESIGN / POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD CONSIDER REDESIGN OF NOTHING ELSE, THE WHITE RETAINING RING. I DID SUGGEST THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SHOULD CONTACT CORPORATE OF THIS, BUT UNKNOWN IF THIS WAS TURNED IN TO NISSAN CORPORATE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE LOW BEAM EXTERIOR LIGHTS SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. IN ORDER TO REMEDY THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT CHANGED THE BULBS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE INTELLIGENT POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT A NEW PART WAS MANUFACTURED TO ADDRESS THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,300.

THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY IS WARPED WHERE THE SILVER DIVIDER IS BETWEEN THE TOP AND BOTTOM ALSO THE SIDE AMBER DEFLECTOR INSIDE THE ASSEMBLY IS BROKEN. THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLAMP BOTH THE REFLECTORS INSIDE ARE OUT OF PLACE, THE LARGER ONE HAS SLID DOWN WHERE THE MAIN HEADLIGHT IS. YOU CANNOT GET INSIDE THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY TO REPAIR THESE. THE ONLY OPTION IS TO REPLACE THEM. NISSAN REFUSES TO REPLACE THEM BECAUSE MY WARRANTY IS NO LONGER VALID SINCE I HAVE OVER 36,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE IS A 2008 NISSAN FRONTIER. I HAVE NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENT. I HAVE NEVER REPLACED THE BULBS.
NHTSA complaint #10284027 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON EXTERNAL EXAMINATION OF THE VEHICLE SHE NOTICED THAT THE SIDE REFLECTOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHTS HAD FRACTURED AND FELL INSIDE OF THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. HEADLIGHT MALFUNCTION REDUCES VISIBILITY, WHICH THUS INCREASES THE RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY AND VEHICLE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, IN WHICH A TECHNICIAN CONCLUDED THAT THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 44585. UPDATED 10/09/09 *CN UPDATED 10/16/09
