When owners complained

A spike years after the car went on sale usually means a part wearing out on schedule across the whole fleet — the kind of pattern no single owner can see from inside their own car.

Recalls on the 2024 Nissan Frontier

A complaint is one owner's allegation. A recall is the point at which the manufacturer or a regulator agreed the defect is real and dangerous enough to fix for free — however old the car is.

United States — NHTSA

24V582000

EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2024 Nissan Frontier vehicles. The right-side headlight assemblies may have missing or illegible headlight aim markings, which can result in improperly aimed headlights. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Risk: Improperly aimed headlights can result in insufficient illumination of the road, decreasing the driver's visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.

24V479000

SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2024 Frontier vehicles. The front right-side lower link may have been manufactured with an oversized ball joint, which can result in corrosion and ball joint separation from the front right-side lower link.

Risk: Ball joint separation can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

24V154000

AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2024 Titan, Frontier, Infiniti QX60, Pathfinder, 2023-2024 Sentra, Versa, Kicks, Infiniti QX50, and 2023 Rogue vehicles. Due to a manufacturing issue, the driver's air bag inflator may absorb moisture, and cause the air bag to deploy improperly.

Risk: An air bag that deploys improperly may not protect the driver as intended during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Canada — Transport Canada

Canada runs its own recall programme, and its campaigns do not always mirror the American ones.

Recall 2024368 185 units in Canada

Suspension

Issue: On certain vehicles, the right-front lower control arm may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the ball joint could become loose. Over time, this could cause the control arm to corrode and the ball joint to separate. Safety Risk: A ball joint that separates could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Nissan will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the right-front lower control arm.

Recalls cover specific build ranges, so check your own vehicle by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls or, in Canada, Transport Canada.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

On the evening of April 22, 2026, my 2024 Nissan frontier with approximately 7600 miles on it had an electrical fire in the front driver side fog lamp housing. My vehicle has a manufacturer warranty of 36,000 miles or 36 months. I received a denial letter for honoring the warranty by Nissan consumer affairs on May 18, 2026. I believe this is a known issue dating back to at least 2022 to current models. There are individuals posting their experiences on social media. Nissan has not provided a written report for the inspection by their investigative inspection team. I don’t understand their refusal to honor my warranty.

POWER TRAIN

This is a nine speed transmission which basically shifts up each gear every 5 to 6 MPH until you hit 9th gear about 52 MPH. The transmission will not shift to next gear fast enough causing the vehicle to be very slow. The transmission has to go through 5 gears to get to 30 MPH. Each gear shifts at 1650 to over 2000 RPM before it will shift to next gear. If the air conditioning is running the least amount of RPM's is over 2000 or higher to shift up to next gear. At 2000 RPM's the engine has very little torque needed from the transmission due to the 3.692 axle ratio and sounds like the engine is revving higher than it should be. If you don't relax on the gas pedal it will stay in that gear and just rev the RPM's in the gear it is in, until you let off the gas pedal for it to shift up. If you need high acceleration at low speeds it just won't shift up to next gear. I have almost been rear ended many times trying to get onto an expressway or accelerating from a red light to get up to posted speed limit. If you have 5 gears to get to 30 MPH then they have to shift at low RPM's (1250 to 1500 RPM"s) and as fast as possible to get the speed of the vehicle up quickly. The transmission has engine braking and will decelerate through each gear. If you are slowing the truck with foot off the brake and then accelerate the driveshaft and rear end will clunk so you have to be gentle with the pedal to prevent loud clunking noises. It will clunk back into first gear at times when braking to stop the vehicle. It is unsafe to drive when getting up to posted speed is crucial.

VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD

I have a 2024 Nissan Frontier PRO 4X. Front windshield leaks on the passenger side. Took it to the dealer roughly 7 times. After the purchase I notice water coming down the windshield. Took it to the dealer supposedly they thought it got fixed. After got home and the next time it rained and leaked again. Now 2 years later still having water trouble after being at the dealer several times still not fixed. Cleaning my truck inside notice my floor is soaking wet. Water running down A pillar running down to the floorboard. While some of the electrical devices are right where the water is lying. I feel this is a big safety concern with all the electrical connections. Also now my flooring carpet has mold on it and breathing this is unhealthy and unsafe. I just want it fixed!!

POWER TRAIN

My 2024 Nissan Frontier has experienced repeated intermittent shut off and no-start failures. The problem began in late 2024 and continued through January 2025, throughout 2025, 2026, and is still occurring. The truck has randomly shut off while driving and has failed to restart at different times. This creates a serious safety risk in traffic and on the freeway because loss of power can cause an accident or leave me stranded in unsafe areas. I brought the vehicle to Nissan dealership service in January 2025 for diagnosis, but they stated no issue was found. The same problem continued afterward. Auto parts stores also checked battery/charging systems and did not identify the cause. Most recently, the vehicle would not start at CarMax and required roadside assistance / jump start / towing. The issue is intermittent and difficult to predict, which makes it more dangerous. I am requesting investigation of this recurring defect.

POWER TRAIN

I purchased this truck new. On many occasions while trying to accelerate from a stopped position there is a few second delay before the car will move. This in my opinion is a serious condition because when you think you can move into traffic the car won't move. This could cause a serious accident. I brought this to the attention of the nissan service center several times only to be told that it a characteristic of the transmission. In other words the transmission is searching for the right gear to engage before the car will move. I checked on line and found that other people are having the same problem. Please advise.. Thank you

SERVICE BRAKES

On December 29th 2025 I was driving the vehicle in a residential area approximately 40 MPH. The Interior ABS warning lights illuminated. I could here a banging noise coming from the back of the Vehicle. I took the vehicle to a Nissan Dealership who inspected it and said the entire rear braking system including rotors bubs sensors and axle were damaged and needed to be replaced. The dealership stated the parking brake was engaged while the vehicle was being driven. Never has the parking brake on that vehicle been engaged manually since I purchased it 1 year ago. Cost to repair is $6000 not covered by warranty. Clearly driving a vehicle in a mountain region with a completely destroyed rear brake system is dangerous. A vehicle that inadvertently engages the emergency brake is dangerous. And even being able to operate the vehicle with the emergency brake engaged id dangerous.

lighting is not sufficient for seeing far enough ahead on low beam and high beam is more like regular, when turning there is hardly any lighting within the turn making it dangerous in my opinion. i recommend slowing almost to stop before making a turn especially to the right.also i have had to get my right headlight repaired by nissan within the first 2 months of purchase in july and august of 2024. the right headlight went completely out both times. the lighting on my vehichle is terrible also i notice the breaking is not that great as it takes to long to come to complete stop with normal braking pressure...i also do not like the auto idle when coming to a stop as if you have to accelerate quickly it causes a hesitation. could be bad in an emergency type situation

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

We have a fleet of 2023-2025 Nissan Frontiers. Starting in December of 2024 we began having problems with the vehicles electrical system going wild and shutting the trucks down. It causes all of the lights to come on and the truck to stall and not restart, We did not realize that we had a problem until it happened to multiple vehicles over the last several months. A few of them were brought to the dealership where we were told they could not find any problems and just replaced the batteries. So, when some of the others did it, we just replaced the batteries ourselves. This week asked again if there was a known issue and were told Nissan only knows of a battery drain issue. These vehicles are shutting down sometimes while our people are driving them. They also try to restart themselves sometimes. They are automatically applying the breaks when this happens wile the ABS light comes on. This is an extremely dangerous situation for our fleet drivers as well as the motoring public. It has happened to 10 of the 15 Frontiers that we own.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Several times since I purchased this vehicle new I have experienced throttle delay from a standing position. (Example) While stopped at a red ;light or a stop sign or trying to accelerate from a stopped position into oncoming traffic there is a throttle delay of a few seconds. In other words I step on the gas peddle and nothing happens. After 2 or 3 seconds the throttle picks up and the car starts to move. This is in my opinion a very serious problem because a few second delay could result in a major accident if trying to accelerate into oncoming traffic. I brought this to the attention of the nissan dealership service dept. only to be told that there is no defect found. I checked (on line) and found that other people with this vehicle have experienced the same problem. I would appreciate you investigating this serious condition. Your next question on when this condition occurs cannot be answered because it's an ongoing issue. I'll just put a date Thank you

STRUCTURE:INTERIOR PANELS:SUN VISOR

The contact owns a 2024 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while unhooking the driver’s side sun visor to block the sun, the sun visor swung back and struck the contact in the face. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the failure was acknowledged; however, the contact was informed that a replacement part was on backorder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was given the same information as the dealer. The contact stated that due to a medical condition and the medication needed to treat the condition, he must be examined by a medical professional whenever his body gets hit, to ensure that he remains in good health. The contact had sent several emails to the manufacturer for updates and received replies that there was no update on an ETA for the part. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Since I purchased this vehicle (2024 Nissan Frontier) in October 2023 I have complained to the dealership of a hesitation from a stopped position. The hesitation of a few seconds occurs only if from a stopped position. If at a stopped position and trying to accelerate into traffic there is a few second delay for the vehicle to respond. This delay on several occasions has caused me to nearly have a collision. When brought to the attention of the dealership (twice) I was told the transmission is looking for the proper gear and this is normal. In my experience of driving for over 50 years this is the first car that I have ever had with this condition. In my opinion this is a major safety concern. When I expect the car to move it doesn't. There are no warning lamps illuminated. My safety and the safety of my passengers are at risk with this vehicle. Both my son's drove the vehicle and stated that they also experienced the hesitation. I also googled this condition and found others having the same problem and the dealerships reporting NDF (no defect found) I would appreciate your assistance in this matter.

WHEELS

Sway bar was loose from manufacturer. Purchased 7/31. In the first two weeks of driving, I noticed an unusual sound when I turned the vehicle hard one way. At first I thought it was the frame flexing as it was new, however, it seemed to get worse. I noticed the steering become more loose as days went on. I called my salesman who asked me to bring it in to have service take a look. Turns out that the swaybar was not screwed in tight or heck may have been missing a few bolts. Service center said that it came that way from the factory. Doesn't appear that service did a thorough look over when they rcvd the vehicle off the truck. They fixed it, no issue and did so timely. Second, I also noticed that it seems as if the clear coat on the paint job on the front two fenders and hood was missed. The layer, if any, is very very thin and almost non existent. I also noticed that the paint is very thin as if perhaps one coat. It is also a bit pitted almost on the hood and front left fender as if something was sprayed like overspray and the paint is almost pitted in those areas.

STEERING

2024 Nissan vehicle was sold from Rock Hill Nissan with open voluntary recall on FRONT RH LOWER LINK on 7.18.2024. DEALER RESPONSIBILITY It is the dealer’s responsibility to check Service COMM or Dealer Business Systems (DBS) National Service History for the campaign status on each vehicle falling within the range of this voluntary safety recall which for any reason enters the service department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties or presented by transient (tourist) owners and vehicles in a dealer’s inventory. Federal law requires that new vehicles in dealer inventory which are the subject of a safety recall must be corrected prior to sale. Failure to do so can result in civil penalties by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. While federal law applies only to new vehicles, Nissan strongly encourages dealers to correct any used vehicles in their inventory before they are retailed. Repair was complete on 7.28.2024 at Nissan of Gastonia. it took 4 hours. I'm unable to locate the paperwork but can request from dealership.
