Seat height not adjusting is ludicrous and a hazard! My husband is 6'4", my sons, 6'1", they seat height is not safe and braking/turns cause them to hit their heads. This could be life threatening in a real accident. There should be a lower profile seat that could be installed by Toyota. This is not safe!
NHTSA complaint #11751678 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
While driving my new 2026 Toyota Sienna Woodland Edition home from the dealership on the day of purchase (XXX), I applied routine braking to stop at a yellow light. Both second-row captain's chairs, which had been slid fully rearward and left in the upright position during the dealer's cargo-space demo, and which I assumed had been properly locked, suddenly slammed forward with extreme force into the back of the front seats, and the seatbacks self-folded on impact. Notably, both chairs failed identically and simultaneously, which suggests a systemic design or manufacturing issue rather than an isolated event. Had a person or object been positioned between the chairs and the front seats, they would have been struck or crushed; any item on top of the chairs could have become airborne. My canvas bag in the cargo area was compressed by the force. Summary: the seats appeared to fail to latch/lock securely in their rearward track position. After the incident I was unable to move or release the chairs from the collapsed position, though this could have been due to my own lack of expertise on how to operate the chairs. No injuries occurred because the seats were unoccupied at the time, but this presents a serious injury risk to occupants under normal braking conditions. On XXX I took the vehicle to a second dealership, Bev Smith Toyota in [XXX], for inspection. The tech's video and resulting service invoice incorrectly claimed the seats were "unlocked" and not in the upright position at the time of the incident, stating "No problem found." I disputed this in writing, since the seats were indeed upright. I asked Bev Smith to conduct a safety test drive but the invoice does not show this was done. I asked for a demo of the seats and was shown how to lock and confirm stability, a step the average consumer might skip entirely, simply pulling the seats back and assuming they were latched, as Palm Beach Toyota had done. NHTSA complaint #11748875 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
On June 11, 2026, a BraunAbility Turny Evo seat system, installed by a third-party mobility dealer, suffered a catastrophic mechanical failure while in operation. A passenger with a physical disability was secured in the equipment when the mechanism seized, trapping the individual mid-cycle. The remote control displayed a mandatory "Code 19" error, rendering the equipment unresponsive and creating an immediate safety crisis. Beyond this mechanical failure, the vehicle's structural integrity is compromised. The floor plates and railings, which are critical for the securement of this mobility equipment, are loose and rattling, posing a severe risk of detachment while in motion. Furthermore, the interior upholstery was permanently damaged during the installation process, and a secondary mobility hoist system—which was paid for in full—was never installed. The dealer and the manufacturer have been notified of these dangerous structural and mechanical defects but have failed to provide a safe, complete repair. The vehicle is currently unsafe to operate and poses a direct threat to the safety of the passenger.

Stitching on the driver seat is tearing. Under normal wear. The vehicle is just out of the 3 year/36,000 warranty period. If the seat continues to degrade it will not be safe for future use as it worsens.

While slowing to a stop sign at a normal speed, the 3rd row, which does not lock into place, flew into the upright position. Thankfully it had nothing on top of it, but if it did my children in the second row would have been seriously injured.

This report is being filed to due a prolonged recall on the second row seats of this vehicle. We have not been able to use the second row seats for over 7 months, and there have been no communication or updates from the manufacturer regarding a remedy. This has been a recall for over 5 months and my van is still not repaired and my two middle seats are unsafe for my children to be in. Toyota and the dealership say there is no fix, but the car is unsafe in the second row per their recommendation.

On [XXX], I purchased a 2025 Toyota Sienna XLE Hybrid subject to NHTSA Recall 25V668 (Toyota Recall 25TA12 — second-row seat rail suspect welds), publicly announced on 10/07/2025. The selling dealer marketed the vehicle as "Certified Used" on Cars.com for at least 64 days after the recall was announced. The dealer's sales representative also represented the vehicle in writing via SMS as "Gold Certified" with the full Toyota Certified Used Vehicle warranty package on [XXX] — one day before sale. The dealer disclosed the recall only at the closing table on [XXX], after I had relied on the prior representations to negotiate the price, submit a credit application, drive to the dealership, and tender a down payment. Toyota's interim recall guidance prohibits occupation of the second-row seats until remedy is performed. The remedy is currently not available. My [XXX] daughter has [XXX] and uses a wheelchair; second-row sliding-door access is essential for her safe transport. The vehicle has been in dealer storage since 01/08/2026 because it cannot safely transport my family. As of 05/24/2026 — 229 days after the recall was announced — no remedy date is available per the dealer's Service Manager. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Component failure: second-row seat rails (potentially improperly welded per Toyota's recall description). The defect has not been independently inspected; the recall is documented by Toyota and NHTSA. No warning lamps or symptoms appear because the defect manifests only in high-speed collisions. I notice the driver seat had a clip that popped off unto my carpet, when inspected it came off the seat rail. While moving my seat back using the electronic seat lever a white clip with two metal bearings was sticking out, I notice the ball bearings were not in place and had came off the white clip. Yes, it is available for inspection. This pose a safety concern as the seat rails will not function correctly when moving seat or using the memory seat buttons for each driver. I have not brought the vehicle to a dealer to inspect as there is a estimate fee involved. I am currently out of my 2 year toyota care warranty. I am not seeing any warning lamps or messages besides the seat making a clicking noise when I move the seat back and forth.

There is a safety recall on my vehicle with no remedy. It has been 7 months since the recall notification. The dealer provided us with a rental, however it is a different model (Sienna vs 4 Runner).

We brought our 2022 Toyota Sienna in for service January 2024 for the driver's seat. The seat would make really loud popping noises that sounded like something was loose when the seat moved forward and backward. We brought the vehicle in, and the service technician discovered that the driver's seat assembly was loose and cracking. The technician removed and replaced faulty components of the seat assembly under warranty. The seat starting having the same issues recently, and we are concerned of an on going safety issue given the instability of the driver's seat. The dealership informed us they will not repair the seat under warranty.

The recall on the 2nd row seat welding makes this row unusable per Toyota’s recommendation until they get a remedy. There is no estimated date on when the remedy will be available and Toyota is offering no solution to this. I have 2 small kids, one [XXX] and one [XXX] . I brought home my newborn in this car before the recall notice was sent out. It is our hybrid family vehicle and we cannot use it due to this recall and there is no remedy available for who knows how long. They have no offered me a loaner at the dealership near me plus they likely do not have a Sienna as a loaner because according to them Sienna’s are well sought out.
