The contact owns a 2026 Toyota Sienna Hybrid. The contact stated that while the vehicle was occupied and parked in the driveway, the sunroof exploded outward without impact. The sunroof shade was closed during the failure. There was no reported injury. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where the contact was informed that a similar failure was previously reported; however, the failure was not covered under warranty. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer referred the contact to the manufacturer, who then referred the contact to the sunroof glass manufacturer for assistance. The sunroof glass manufacturer informed the contact that the vehicle manufacturer was responsible for the repair because the sunroof glass was installed on the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000. The VIN was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2026 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, an abnormal, shattering sound emitted from the vehicle. The contact immediately pulled over and discovered that the rear window had shattered without incident as glass debris had spread all over the truck of the vehicle. The contact was able to flag down a police officer in the area who assisted the contact with the failure. A police report was not filed as no evidence of a crime or nefarious dealing was discovered. The contact managed to drive the vehicle home to drop off her granddaughters and drove the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer inspected the vehicle and stated that the windshield failure was caused by an unknown impact which the contact disputes. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired and remained in the dealer's possession. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.

June 3, 2026, approximately 5:30 PM EDT, I entered my 2025 Toyota Sienna to move it from the street beside my home, to my driveway. Upon closing the driver's door, the rear liftgate window exploded into the vehicle. This occurred without any warning or adverse action by myself or anyone else. The vehicle has been in no collisions, and has only 6429 miles on the odometer. I phoned Toyota's "Customer Experience Center" to report the incident and to seek warranty service for this problem. I was told to drive the vehicle to my Toyota Dealer, which is located 115 miles away, for inspection. I explained that it is unsafe to drive a vehicle filled with broken glass and with no rear window 115 miles. If I vacuum up the glass, there is nothing for the dealership technician to inspect. If I tape plastic over the opening, it could come loose at highway speed, and cause an accident, and the tape adhesive could damage the vehicle finish. The Toyota agent advised me that the vehicle must be inspected at a Toyota Dealership, and if the vehicle is unsafe to drive to the dealer, we could have it towed. But in a subsequent call to the "Customer Experience Center", my wife was informed that Toyota would not cover a tow of that distance in their warranty, and it was our fault for buying a car and taking it to an area that far from a dealer. The phone number we called is located inside the vehicle owner's manual cover under a heading, "If there is not a Toyota dealer near you, please call the following number:" In the morning, once they are open, I will call the nearest dealership, 115 miles distant, to seek further guidance. Based on my background in both mechanical engineering and automotive failure analysis, it is my opinion that the window and its support system was not designed to withstand the prolonged sun and heat exposure experienced. The outside temperature reached at least 82 degrees F where the vehicle was parked.

The driver's side mirror vibrates when the vehicle is at speed. I've been to two dealers who say that it's normal, and everything is intact and installed correctly. When driving, the mirror vibrates a lot, which is a safety issue when trying to use the side mirror during changes, etc.

The driver side mirror is shaking and distorted. This issue happened right the first day I took the car home. I immediately contacted the dealership and they asked us to bring the car back to change a new mirror. After changing the new mirror, the problem is still there. The dealership told us to contact Toyota Brand Engagement Center. We did and they denied our claim so we went back to the dealer and after talking we opened another claim and the denied our claim again. They said it’s normal. This is not normal. I researched it online and lots of people have the same problem with the mirror on the driver side. I have vertigo and it triggers my symptom everytime I drive. This is safety issue. It’s shaking every time I drive. I have 2 kids that I have to drive to school and other places everyday. Toyota refused to take responsibility and it’s really disappointing and frustrating. It’s been 3 months and the issue hasn’t been resolved.

This minivan has the entertainment system, when using the TV screen, it blocks the rearview mirror where you are unable to see out of the back window. I have not seen any warning labels. I am unsure if it has been inspected by the manufacturer, and police and insurance reps have not inspected mine.

The drivers side mirror vibrates causing distortion that makes it difficult to judge distances on highways. This issue seems to be a structural defect in the door not the mirror. Multiple people are complaining about this. Many have had the mirror replaced only to still experience the issue myself included. I have test drove two brand new 2025 Sienna and the issue was present there as well. It is very much a safety issue.

After very minor rainfall, my rear backup camera was not usable as water was dripping off of the edge of the door handle trim and it was getting on the lens. This is a complete design problem as there should be a drip edge. You made it very difficult to properly pull up at a gas station pump and I was unable to get close to the pump because of how the lens was obscured by the water drops.

Outer rear-view mirror on the driver side exhibits a vibration/shaking of the image. It is obvious and continuous vibration is observed typically on highway speeds of approximately 60mph or higher and lower speeds it is evident driving over slight bumps, concrete/asphalt road surfaces or bridges. Looking at the shaking image cause dizziness and it is even worse in night time with headlights from vehicles coming behind. It is annoyance to the point that makes you feel not to use the rear-view which can potentially put the vehicle and others in danger. Passenger side doesn't vibrate and makes it easy to notice the issue. Dealer inspected the mirror and said manufacturing issue and replaced it under warranty with no success is fixing underlying vibration issue. On the second visit, dealer denies the problem and says the mirror is replaced and operates according to toyota specification (it feels to us they do not care about the functionality). According to dealer they will do anything further only if Toyota release a TSB on this particular issue.

The drivers side exterior mirror shakes. This occurs during all driving, most notably over bumpy roads and at highway speeds. The passenger side mirror does not have this problem. Because of the shaking, it is distracting when driving as it appears there is movement in the mirror. Additionally, it causes a distortion from the constant movement. The vehicle was purchased in June 2025 and has occurred since day 1. The vehicle was in the dealer on 9/30/25 and noted the issue, stating there is nothing physically wrong with the mirror but did agree with the assessment. They said this is common on vehicles (they see the complaint a lot) but Toyota has not acknowledged it so there is no fix and appears to be a manufacturing defect.

Vehicle is available for inspection. The distorted image resulting from mirror wobbling affects driver's awareness of surroundings, visibility gets worse at nights/rain due to blurred lights. This can lead to an accident. My regular dealerships in Milford, CT have confirmed the issue but have not been able to provide a fix. They say the vibration is normal. I do not believe so as the passenger side mirror never has issue like that. I have first noticed this issue a couple of weeks when driving on highway. Posting my case online has gotten at least 4 people reporting the same issue with the Sienna since 2021 in multiple trims. Also, every time I close the door, mirror shakes as it its loosely attached. Driverside mirror has too much play and shakes. There is no issue with play and shakes with passenger side mirror. My intuition when I first noticed was going to be a cold break, but I realized that it was the mirror wobbling causing it. The car coming behind was far enough and I was able to react. Summary of actions and requests to Toyota: I went to my dealership Crestmont Toyota, Pompton Plains, NJ and they have confirmed the play and wobble issue, however, they said it's the same thing with other 3 Sienna's they had on LOT. Dealership informed that this is how its manufactured and they can't do anything until TOYOTA issues a recall for this problem. First occurrence: Day one, driving back from the dealership.
