The vehicle is currently towed and available for inspection upon request before any insurance salvage disposition. Safety risk: The non-deployment exposed the driver to severe direct impact forces against the steering wheel and cabin structure during a high-force frontal collision, significantly increasing the risk of traumatic head, neck, chest, and internal injuries. Reproduction/confirmation by dealer or service center: No, the vehicle was involved in a collision yesterday and was towed directly from the scene. It has not yet been inspected by an authorized Acura dealer or service center. Inspections by manufacturer, police, insurance, or others: The vehicle was picked up today by a towing/body shop representative for insurance evaluation. It has not yet been inspected by Acura/Honda corporate representatives. Police responded to the crash scene. Warning lamps or symptoms prior to failure: No warning lamps (such as an illuminated SRS/airbag light), error messages, or pre-existing symptoms were present prior to the collision. On [XXX], my 2013 Acura ILX (VIN: [XXX]) was involved in a frontal collision during a U-turn execution, resulting in severe structural deformation crushing the front end inward to the front tires. Despite the high-deceleration frontal impact, none of the frontal airbags deployed. No SRS warning lights or system fault indicators were active prior to the crash. Acura has done NOTHING to help me and my life has been severely impacted by not having a car. No one is offering me any solutions, they have not provided me a loaner car or anything to help my situation.

The contact stated that the airbags did not deploy during the crash. The contact did not sustain injuries at the scene and no medical attention was provided immediately following the crash. However, the contact later experienced lower back and neck injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not towed after the crash. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that while refueling the vehicle, approximately half of the fuel would disappear after the vehicle was started, with no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was later taken to a dealer for bodywork repairs related to the rear-end damage. The contact was informed that repairs had been completed to the fuel pocket area of the vehicle however the vehicle was not diagnosed related for the fuel system failure. I own a 2016 Acura ILX and recently discovered multiple federally mandated safety recalls affecting my vehicle, including a brake master cylinder recall, fuel pump recall, driveshaft separation recall, and Takata airbag recall. I have owned this vehicle for over seven years and was never notified by mail or otherwise at my correct address that these safety recalls existed. One recall is currently active, but the dealership advised they cannot perform the repair due to parts unavailability until March, leaving me to operate a vehicle with a known brake-related safety defect. The remaining recalls are listed as not active, yet were never completed, and the dealer refused to perform them. I am concerned that required safety defects were not properly communicated or remedied, placing me and others at risk.

I am submitting this complaint regarding a 2021 Acura ILX (VIN: [XXX] ) that has been unreleasable for an extended period due to manufacturer inability to supply a required safety component. The vehicle was involved in an accident on July 6, 2025 and delivered to Caliber Collision in Corpus Christi, Texas. All accident-related repairs have been completed. However, the vehicle cannot be released because a required airbag and/or airbag module is unavailable. American Honda Motor Company, Inc. has advised that the safety component is unavailable to be sold and that no estimated time of availability exists. Due to the safety nature of the missing component, the repair facility has confirmed the vehicle cannot be legally or safely released. The delay is no longer accident-related and is solely due to manufacturer unavailability of a safety-critical, non-cosmetic part. I have requested interim solutions including buyback, rental assistance, or a dealership loaner, and no temporary or permanent solution has been provided. This complaint is submitted to document manufacturer inability to supply a required safety component resulting in extended loss of vehicle use. Takata front passenger side ceiling airbag and front passenger seat airbag deployed without impact or collision after I left my garage and drove less than a quarter of a mile. There was an excessive heat warning and higher-than-average humidity. I suffered auditory injuries due to the high-decibel explosion the Takata airbags produced in the sealed cab of my car. My insurance has ruled my vehicle a total loss (with no fault of my own). Still, I have yet to accept the insurance's total loss offer, and I wanted to provide an opportunity for further inspection of the Takata airbag system to help this ongoing crisis further. Two Acura representatives called after I registered my airbag deployment on Honda's website. The first representative treated me, "I can have you arrested." during our phone conversation on July 12th, 2023. The second representative requested that I turn over my vehicle to Acura "So we can do our internal investigation." I declined, and his rebuttal was to take my car from the bank since there was a lien on it. I replied that my vehicle has no lien; it's paid in full. My insurance company initially told me they were going to inspect the vehicle. However, I was offered a total loss settlement within 48 hours. I've requested an inspection report multiple times for the cause, but my insurance company has not provided me with anything other than a total loss, with "no fault of my own report." There were no warning lamps, messages, or anything to alert me before the faulty deployment of the airbags. No passenger was seated in the passenger seat at the time of this incident.

There were two different times my Acura 2013 ILX was involved in two different accidents and the airbags didn’t deploy. 1. Back on 4/2018 brakes didn’t respond properly, then ceased to another vehicle and airbags didn’t deployed. No major injuries, but high bills. 2. January 2019, my husband was rear ended by an Audi, was sent to the opposite side of the street, car was total loss, airbags never deployed. He suffered MAJOR injuries, couldn’t walk for two months, used a walker after that for over two years, suffered dislocated discs, neck and his whole body is not the same anymore. Can’t tell anymore how many procedures he has been through.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2016 ACURA ILX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN RATE OF SPEED, THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS T-BONED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE WHILE EXITING THE HIGHWAY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SHATTERED INTO SEVERAL PIECES AS A RESULT OF THE IMPACT. THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION AT THE SCENE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AT THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT TOW YARD. THE CONTACT SOUGHT MEDICAL TREATMENT AFTER THE ACCIDENT FOR GLASS THAT HAD BEEN LODGED INTO VARIOUS PARTS OF HER BODY. THE NEXT DAY, THE CONTACT WENT TO HER PRIMARY DOCTOR WHERE AN X-RAY DISCOVERED A BULGING DISC IN HER BACK AND BRUISES TO HER LEFT HIP AND LEFT SHOULDER. ACURA OF ORANGE PARK (7200 BLANDING BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32244) AND THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND NEITHER OFFERED ANY ASSISTANCE FOR THE MATTER. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN DUE TO SUSPECTED ODOMETER FRAUD ON THE VEHICLE.

THEY STATED "CAR IS NEW DRIVE IT MORE" THE ELECTRICAL POWER STIRRING, THE BATTERY DRAINS QUICKLY(PROBLEM WITH FUSE), THE BRAKES SYSTEM SETS OFF SENSORS, ABS LIGHT ON, AIRBAG LIGHT ON (ALL THOUGH DEALERSHIP STATED THEY REPAIRED THAT RECALL). POWERTRAIN AND TRANSMISSION LEAKING, CHECK HILL START ASSIST SYSTEM, CHECK VSA SYSTEM, FOUND RECALL FOR POWERTRAIN ON INTERNET THAT WAS FROM JULY 2019 THAT I HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED ABOUT. COMPLAINED ABOUT PAINT FADING ON HOOD OVER ENGINE, COMPLAINED ABOUT SHOCKS AND STRUTS THAT DON'T NEED REPLACEMENT BUT THERE IS SOMETHING LOOSE THAT IS MAKING NOISE, I HAVE UPDATED HOME ADDRESS WITH ACURA BUT EVEN SO WHEN I MOVED IN 2017 I DID A CHANG OF ADDRESS. THEY HAVE REPLACED ALTERNATOR, THAT I DON'T BELIEVE NEEDED CHANGING AT THAT TIME, SERVICE TECH AT ONE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IF I SERVICED MY CAR WOULD BURN UP BUT OF COURSE OFFERED ME TO BUY A NEW CAR. ACURA SERVICE AT SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS HAVE NEVER GIVEN ME PICTURES OR MENTIONED TRANSMISSIONS LEAK BUT HONDA GAVE ME ALL EVIDENCE. METAL SOUND TRANSMISSION IS PERMEATED SHOWING THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM THREW SEVERAL INSPECTIONS THAT ARE ALL DOCUMENTED WITH ACURA.
