The passenger doors fail to open from the outside. The only way to access them is through the driver's door and to use the inside door handles. The dealer is aware of the issue and it was caused by a software update and Audi/VW have no confirmed fix for it. The cruise control does not always operate and gives an erroneous error stating "door open." The dealer has confirmed this error and states there is no repair available. The issue was caused by a software update and Audi has no confirmed fix at the moment. The trunk will not always latch. When closing the trunk goes to the first latch but then fails to fully close. The dealer has made multiple repair attempts and the issue still exists.

The contact owns a 2020 Audi A6. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, water leaked into the vehicle and accumulated in the rear passenger’s side area of the vehicle. The contact initially believed that the failure might be related to inclement weather; however, the issue persisted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where a video diagnostic inspection was performed. The dealer diagnosed that water had entered in through the longitudinal member and passenger’s side footwell, causing damages to the gateway control module which required replacement. The rear electronic child safety lock on my 2019 Audi A6 does not function as intended. When activated, the lock does not reliably engage or disengage, allowing the rear door to be opened from the inside when it should be locked. We only began using the child safety lock after having a baby, at which time the malfunction was discovered. This creates a potential child safety risk, as the rear door may be opened from the inside when the child safety lock is expected to prevent this. The vehicle has not been modified, and the issue occurs under normal operating conditions. The dealer inspected the vehicle and advised that the repair would require replacement of the rear door latch/actuator but declined coverage due to the vehicle being out of warranty.

I was traveling at ~65mph on the freeway when the sunroof spontaneously exploded. It was louder than a gunshot—I nearly lost control of the vehicle. The explosion occurred in the outward direction. While driving slowly through a shopping mall parking lot with my wife and [XXX] son onboard, the vehicle suddenly malfunctioned. The central locking system cycled repeatedly, and a warning briefly appeared mentioning a steering/light malfunction. Immediately afterward, the emergency release cables for all four doors deployed externally as if the car had been in a crash, even though no collision occurred. At the Audi dealership (Audi Sugar Land, TX), technicians confirmed by diagnostic scan that: The ABS control module stored a fault for “invalid data.” That invalid data was relayed to the airbag module, which falsely triggered a “crash response active” condition. All four door modules stored crash response faults and deployed the emergency release cables. The issue was confirmed, faults were cleared, but no parts were replaced. This false crash response put my family at risk because it activated emergency safety mechanisms without cause. My concern is that if invalid data can trigger a false crash event, it could also trigger other systems, such as airbags, leading to potential injury. The incident occurred with approximately 1,100 miles on the vehicle, one week after purchase, and immediately following the first 100% charge. The dealer documented the event and consulted Audi Technical Assistance, who authorized release of the vehicle after clearing the codes. Sunroof spontaneously shattered while driving. No other cars around when this occurred. Caused a very loud BANG. Was driving on the freeway when this occurred. Dealer would not confirm issue was spontaneous - felt something must have hit the car to cause this. No defined impact location on roof. Also, roof glass was pushed up in the middle instead of down like would be expected if something hit it from the outside. No warning before it occurred.

This issue has been happening since I got the car and is getting worse by the day. The car only has about 11,000 miles and I bought it when it had almost 10,000 miles. Something in the dashboard and behind the instrument panels (A/C Controls and User Screens) makes a lot of Vibration Noises/Sounds as the car is slowly accelerated or as we drive over some uneven road. It seems like there is something loose. And this is getting worse by the day. When you pay a top price for a luxury car like Audi you expect that the care is built solid and not with cheap parts... it is very disappointing to see that a luxury car like Audi A6 will make these type of noises when the car is practically brand new.

PURCHASED A 2009 AUDI A6 AS MY PRIMARY COMMUTER AND FAMILY VEHICLE. WHAT WORRIED ME MOST WAS THAT I WAS HOLDING MY DAUGHTER, FORTUNATELY ON MY LEFT SIDE, AND MY DAUGHTER WAS NOT HURT. I ALSO HAVE A SON WHICH IS CURRENTLY I LEVEL WITH THE DOOR TRIM AND AM CONSTANTLY WORRIED EVERY TIME I OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR. SOMETHING I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DO. I HAVE CONTACTED BOTH THE DEALER AND AUDI CORPORATE AND APPARENTLY, THIS IS NOT A BIG ENOUGH ISSUE FOR THEM AT THE MOMENT. ACCORDING TO AUDI, THAT IS THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE AND MANY OF THEIR VEHICLES HAVE SIMILAR TRIMS. ALL I REQUESTED WAS FOR THEM TO SOMEHOW INSTALL SOME EXTRA PADDING ON THE TRIM TO GIVE ME PIECE OF MIND AND WAS BASICALLY TOLD TO LIVE WITH IT. MY MAIN CONCERN IS THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN. PURCHASING THIS CAR AS MY FAMILY CAR, I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THEM GETTING HURT EACH TIME THE DOOR OPENS AND CLOSES AND I WANTED TO SHARE THIS INCIDENT TO OTHER AUDI DRIVERS OUT THERE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 AUDI A6. THE VEHICLE WAS RECENTLY PURCHASED USED AND TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY INVOLVED IN A CRASH AND THAT THE REAR CROSS MEMBER WAS FRACTURED AND HAD BEEN RE-WELDED IN FOUR DIFFERENT LOCATIONS. THE MECHANIC ALSO ADVISED THAT ONE OF THE FRACTURES WAS ONLY PARTIALLY WELDED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT IF THE WELD WAS TO FRACTURE AGAIN, IT WOULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A CRASH AND THE CONTACT WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND LEFT WITH THE DEALER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 92,764.
